Imagine if it were like Pichu in Smash where using those attacks make you take damage, too. I think that'd be fair, too, because these two honestly seem to be the best character they've shown off so fair, especially with their switching mechanic.
You know you did pretty good with game and character development when you have a bunch of smash players actually looking forward to trying the game lol
well both are similar to if this has roll back it'll beat smash poor netcode but many oddly hate playing on LAN cable which is something on top usual gotta farm content mind set & loop this as a esport which i know all orgs will do usual stuff as much i'd wouldn't want it you can't stop it.
@@CharlieBlaze99 never said the word great and I am specifically talking about the gameplay and key mechanics that could innovate beyond what pros get from Smash right now....
I haven't watched CatDog in well over a decade, so I can't say how many of these moves are references, but the fact that some of their moves have them fighting each other while fighting other characters is pretty fun.
Yeah it’s funny, the first two Spongebob stages had music that fit, but weren’t great to listen too, but then the Flying Dutchman ship and CatDog’s house has really decent music
The more I see of this game the more excited I am. I really hope you guys get to add voice acting to the game at some point. That'd really make this a complete package.
Newsflash: By fan requests, they've officially confirmed that voice acting will be part of their future DLCs or regular game updates. But we're going to get it, regardless. :)
Voice acting will come if the game sells well from the sounds of what the devs said. They didn't have the budget to add VO but with enough sales they probably could.
@@Tim-007 you seem to not understand how video game development works. This is a budget game not a triple AAA well funded project, that means priorities like gameplay, visuals and stability are what matters. It's simply ridiculous of you to think even during a pandemic that they could get all those talented folks for VO sessions. Of course do what you want with your money but know that if you support sooner then features can come faster. I can also garuntee you the entire dev team works much harder than you on a daily basis lol VO will eventually end up in the game
@@TheVentrexian This is only a budget game because Nickelodeon is too greedy to give it the budget it deserves. If they won’t add voice acting now then why would they bother adding it in the future? Also you have no idea how hard I work on a daily basis so shut your ignorant face about that.
"SpongeBob can WaveDash." "Patrick Star has Command Grabs." "Ren and Stimpy 2-sided hitboxes in a lot of their moves." "April O'Neil has a lot of disjointed hitboxes."
Dog nstrong reaches like half screen and killed Spongebob at 70 (near ledge and probably no DI, but still). With no airdodge s it seems like that might be a nightmare for characters with linear/more horizontal recovery
@@itsjust_bones8776 It means the character has an alternative moveset they can go into when they change their "stance". A good example would be Leo Whitefang from Guilty Gear with his Brynhildr Stance.
CatDog is medium heavyweight in the game, in which in Smash series is considered a good durability. They are not too floaty as well so they were probably less vulnerable to chain combo.
Not to mention potentially the best part of their mixup game that I've seen nobody talk about.. strafing. Imagine how confused you can make the opponent by running backwards for a good chunk of the game
I honestly think the reason only 3 moves change is also because of the budget limitations, they certainly couldn't make basically another charachter from basically scratch, so they only changed a few moves
Its kind of good, the thing about catdog, is that he's a character who can keep you on your toes. If you're not keeping track, you might end up in a situation where you're trying to dodge dogs neutral strong, and getting hit by cats neutral strong instead. If more moves were different, it'd be easier to tell which stance he's in.
Dont really understand why v.o needs to be added thru an update when nick games and nick toon crossover games had v.o out the box back in the ps2 and gamecube days
Erik Perez I think it may be cause this is an indie studio and not a big name like THQ. Also probably cause they need archives for some voices like Nigel or Oblina
Wow! The visual polish on this stage looks really nice, I love that Winslow is in the background 😂 and there's a cool effect with clouds casting shadows on the far back terrain! So hyped!
@@erikperez4829 Nintendo's increasingly hostile treatment of their fans and customers with them basically taking the smash tourney they were going to host and shooting it in the head a week before it was supposed to happen. The many MANY cease and desists, lawsuits and all out attacks against mods and fan games. There's plenty more I missed
@@darksydebill1353 I know. I'm just saying that as of recently, Nintendo has been fucking up way more than Nick. Not saying Nick is a saint company by any means.
Prya and Mythra are way better characters, because they have the true switching and more detail. You are playing the same character whether your Cat or Dog.
Pyra and Mythra transform midmatch, CatDog change positions, they are not better or worse than Pyra and Mythra Edit:i realised that i left my brain in the car because what i said its the same fucking thing, still no one is better than the other
@@elmaionesosexo Oh we already know. Just because CatDog is worse or bad than Pyra and Mythra doesn't mean CatDog isn't top tier. Also they are not in the same freaking game. If they were in this game Pyra and Mythra will be the best characters in the game, because they will be in a fast pace game, and they will be way better than their Ultimate counter part. Since CatDog is a stance character like characters from different fighting games with more than one stance, they can switch on a fly and you won't notice. That's more than transforming into another character, because at the end of the day your still playing the same character. Not the case with Pyra and Mythra nor Melee Zelda and Sheik.
you all are spoiling us!! love it! show us more please! :) I literally look forward to something new from this game everyday. I am enjoying the countdown and hype until release date. Smart ;)
What I think would be cool is spongebob to be slightly more expressive with his face. Like he’s so expressive in his show, I think it would be cool if his face changed to angry with his strong attacks. Or surprised with his up special. Those are just some examples.
Most certainly agree, but I think they are working on it. If you look at the older trailers you will see spongebob has no expressions at all outaide of his taunts. Now he looks distraught whenever he is hit. However, I think there is still much tweaking to do. I don't think his new expressions reflect the character super well
The animation is one of the worst things about this game, so don't expect much. It turns out that the huge budgets AAAs shell out for visuals does have some justification.
Imagine Pyra and Mythra fighting side by side and you having trouble knowing who's controlling who all while having same stats which means both are equally fast, both having actual good projectiles with no drawbacks, while having a ridiculous air game with an up air that combo's into itself to then potentially kill with strong uair and overall have strong, fast, attacks with mostly good knockback and little endlag? That's CatDog.
One of the classic Nicktoons my Mom brings up from time to time it's hilarious she remembers it. I showed her the trailer for Catdog, she enjoyed it lol
I hope they're able to get the voices for the characters implemented somehow. It'll help feel immersed in the game. But it's looking better and better with every showcase. It's very fast paced.
I was thinking cat-dog's taunt should be more of cat insulting his opponents. When it comes to something that involves physical abilities he gloats off the work of dog and often at their expense, when something goes hilariously wrong.
Cat Dog might be the most interesting fighter I've seen in a video game. Being able to switch between two different characters instantaneously has been done before but I feel like this concept has a great versatility. The fact that both of their movesets have adequate kill moves and quick attacks creates a strategic way to freestyle between different playstyles. The creativity behind CatDog is absolutely brilliant 👏🏽
Looks like they had a lot of fun making this character with the unique mechanics and charming animations! And I'm sure I'll certainly have fun playing as them!
I wanted to see CatDog go up against Ren and Stimpy, but still, there’s a lot of unique attacks for each side of them based on episodes like “Pumped” and “Dog, the Mighty”. And their cliffside dwelling makes a cool stage with little footholds involved.
One fine day with a woof and a purr A baby was born and it caused a little stir No Blue Buzzard, nor three-eyed frog T'was the Feline, Canine little CatDog.
Why does Catdog's model look significantly better than Spongebob and Patrick's? They look way more expressive and cartoony. I feel like the latter two could use some more polish as they seem to look really lifeless
as a smash player i dont like the idea of this game, i was kinda sceptical about it, but seeing videos like this is like wow, what a good character design, even is the dude from catdog's show in hte scenario, i freaking love it! (sorry for not remembering the dudes name)
As a big fan of CatDog who owns every episode of the show on DVD who's also a fan of gimmicky characters in fighting games, I can confidently say that I'm 100% maining them! Hopefully there's still the possibility of getting Winslow as DLC despite his current background character status; he's my favorite!
@@sammyday9743 I think he will be the character that will be meme'd alot because it seems he would have very satisfying hits sounds and animations along with him destroying beginners and novices online because of his mechanic of being able to switch between move sets. not to mention he has some zoning projectiles as well.
To me CatDog looks kind of Top Tier. Fast moves that combo well into each other, quick kill moves like Cat Strong Up Air, Dog's Forward Strong that has a reel back that can bait people since it shifts your hurt box, good recovery, quick switch time, the list goes on. Pretty hyped to try him out and all the other characters as I won't know who is my favorite until I feel them out.
@@watotodile I would agree he will most likely at least be B tier most likely A tier and depending on what we see from the other characters as long as he does not have a hard counter character he might become the fabled S tier Character.
