There are too many types of color out there! Which one do you choose? Which ones do the damage? Too often we choose the wrong color for what we are trying to achieve. Join me for a quick break down of what each type of color is, and why we use them. This will be on your cosmetology state board, but also, you need to know this to protect the integrity of your client's hair!

Does it matter which brand of color you use for Demi permanent or permanent

Not especially. I am partial to Matrix SoColor and Color Sync, but I've used lots of Redken products too! Just find your favorite and learn everything you can!

Hi, I have a question regarding relaxers and Olaplex. Since Olaplex claims to repair disulfide bonds and those bonds are converted to lanthionine bonds during a relaxer does that mean that Olaplex won't work for relaxed hair? Thanks.

In my opinion the answer is yes and no. Olaplex will help with relaxers either way it goes. Relaxers are highly alkaline. Olaplex is acidic. Olaplex is known to acidify any developer that it’s used in. I would imaging that would be the same for relaxers. When it comes to bonds, olaplex is a bond bolder or maker. It will create bonds where there are none. Number 2 will stabilize those bonds. However, the bonds that are altered will be just that. Altered. They cannot be changed. I am a licensed instructor/stylist. I’m not a scientist, but I am nerdy and this stuff is my jam. 😅
