Man, How thing's change over time. When I used to drive "Rock Trucks" we where loaded by "Northwest Shovels" and "Front-end Loader's" The Cat 992 was the BIG Thing back then. Thanks for the neat video and bring back memories to this old man.
Mine i work at was like that back in the day. Coal was so close to the surface a loader or scrapers could strip it now we use 4 dragline 2 8750s an 8050 and 1360 bucyrus as well as a 4100 and 495 for pre stripping
Chase Janus where is your mine.. PA? I live in South western Pennsylvania and we 2 new mine's opening soon.. They are underground which is a little different for around here but whatever a job is a job!
We want to see more of this awesome american made machine working. Could you please post another video with this machine at work including a view from inside the cab?
I just keep watching this video!..it amazes me how much breakout force this machine has…like it doesn’t struggle in the slightest bit pulling that bucket through the ground…and it’s not small!!..😳…I honestly think it could handle an even larger bucket with ease!!..couple more yards capacity no problem!!
Haha! Well I'm glad you like it. 😁 Fun fact about this video! I asked the foreman the day before if he could have this machine setup on a nice bench the next day for me to shoot. I showed up at 9 AM the next day and walla, there she was!
Wonder how many r these are workin in the country Justin?..this fellers been on that machine a day or two….dont loose a drop and keeps bench neat n tidy…man how cool it’d be to pull in on the levers into a bench like that one..perfect material perfect height..
Had a ride in a385 Cat many years ago, huge compared to a 777, no big trucks around here anymore, here in south Wales in the u.k. all our local mines are closing due to imported coal from Russia.
785b one of caterpillars popular dump trucks documentary is coming up in the future and btw take a video doc of some caterpillar track loaders 973b 973c and 951b
The excavator can be used in a lot more situations than the shovel. I’ve seen the 5230 shovel work, and it’s a beast. But there were many times you’d have to have a dozer up in the shot to push and break down. The excavator can climb themselves right up in the shot, and dig themselves right across while loading. So the dozer is free to do other things.
To flat slide that bucket underneath the bank like that tells me it's either easy diggin in that material or that babys flat got the power...remind us what dual engines she ru s off of...?? C27s?? Total wild guess
It looks like the center bucket tooth is down to the shank. Very poor maintenance for a great machine. How could anyone damage the counterweight so bad as to dent cast steel. Amazing lack of attention.
That machine is actually in good shape for its age. And if you really want to know how the counterweight is scratched, I have your answer! It's because we live in a liberal american world where entitlement sets in before common sense. Good luck finding any young operator who want to learn that you can actually teach. Most young guys today's re hot heads and won't listen to anything senior operators try to teach them. I know, I deal with this every day. -PA
@@PAmining wish there were good strip mines still going in southern WV. I got laid off from Bluestone Coal the last day of 2013, and have been driving tractor trailers since.
