I have three D9L tractors in my territory from the same vintage as this D10. One of them have a confirmed 120,000 hours on the clock. Massive machine!

I've always been curious about those machines; even went so far as to take a pre-apprentice course in Heavy-Duty Mechanics. That didn't work out though. I ended up making toilets for the next 27 years. Go figure..... You've explained the machine well without going into technical jargon that would lose the average viewer. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself here. Thank you.

In the late 1970s, a local grading contractor bought the first D10 west of the Mississippi. First one delivered to California. I was just a kid and remember seeing it on a job.

I got a chance to sit on a D-10 and a D-11 on a pumped storage project I was hauling in and wanted to fire them up so bad I could taste it, but guessed I needed a job more than a rush so I declined. Sweet machines and good video. Thanks PA!

The D-10 and D-11 aren't very good working around draglines when you need to move dirt quickly, as they were built for slowly moving a large amount of dirt. And they really shine on a down hill push. But they were much easier to work on than the older Caterpillar tractors. The transmission comes out the back on built-in rollers. Plus, if you needed to change an engine and the starter would still operate, you could unpin the lower radiator housing, push down on the blade control, and turn the starter, then the entire radiator and it's housing would fold towards the blade and out of the way. Two men could change the engine in 4 to 6 hours easy.

One of my grandfather's retired from cat in 1981. I'm sure he built some of the first of those hi track d10s with a single stack. I can remember him building and showing me a model he put together of a single stack d10. The decals/lettering show that one is an early one.

The historical and technical facts and dissertation about the equipment is inspiring. We watch your videos as part of family time to illustrate men who capture the American spirit of pride and excellence for mining in Pennsylvania. I need to shoot some video of this particular machine running I've had the privilege of running this very machine. Should note though that the blade setup on this D10 is not factory. The cab is much cleaner now and has a new seat and working A/C, and no longer a mouse condo.

PAmining , as was the case of the 455A, I later moved into this ,the sweetest dozer I ever sat in the cab, the D-10 ! . One thing is any good mechanic can take a helper and change out engine in a short time, also roll the trans out the back, 4 Hrs out and back in the rock again. It had the heart of the D-10, as was the same of the D-9G straight stack , both had "heart" Thank You PAmining once again for many memories being brought back. .

Twin Stacks=twice the coal rolling!! Dad had a chance to drive a D11 years ago when he was doing an install on an axle straightener at the Peoria Plant. The plant manager said he could get dad and the crew he was with some seat time at the Cat testing grounds next to the plant the Saturday of that week but dad didnt do it because the plane ticket his company bought him was for that Friday. To this day im still a little disappointed that he didnt just buy a new ticket for Saturday night. lol. Great video buddy, keep em up!

Okay... I have seen several of this guy's "documentaries" and I'm still wondering what real-world experience he has besides infatuation in heavy equipment he has. Literally everything he has said is the Wikipedia coverage of this machine. I have also saw other videos with misguided information pertaining to Pony Motors and machine Construction. I am glad someone has such enthusiasm for yellow paint but it would be hard to believe he has ever sat in the seat for a day or ever turn the wrench standing on his head working on the machines he covers in his videos
