That OG Omniflex. I have been using that since I was a kid. I fish for catfish and carp a lot and the Omniflex has rarely if ever failed. I use the 50lb for the leader on my catfish setup and on a couple of my carp setups I'll use 20-25lb for the main.
@@ALotOfFishing I used to teach an afterschool program and write educational material, your formatting and delivery were really well done, you are teaching!
I use steel leaders. Just because I feel like the catfish keep snapping the lead like to much. Thank you so much for all the information. Will definitely be upgrading and trying out a few other things.
Lmao the net over your head. Hey man first of all thank you. Thanks for sharing your passion for catfish and especially from the bank because that’s all me I grew up in the Stockton Delta fishing with Abu Garcia reels and ugly stik tiger rods since I moved away that’s what it took to realize ow good fishing opportunities I used to have. Hey the OG rod for me that I will always compare to in my mind is the ugly stik tiger 6’6” or 7’ Heavy. My ideal one nowadays is the tiger elite 6’6” MH casting rod but they’re never available. I have a 7’ tiger regular and a 7’ Berkeley e-cat currently but I’m picky with my rods reels and coffees. I’m tbh I would have picked up the 8’ orange us catfish special but I wished it was a one piece 7’ or 6’6”. I think the casting weights capacity on the rods are going down in response to people who fish from boats and just don’t use that much weights asking for more sensitive rods I mean eight and bait is the standard to me but I have been going lighter lately too. I love everything you said about all the tackle I would just add keep it simple because it’s easy to get complicated quick you know. I saw your review in the bps whupping sticks and tbh I think that’s my next rod. Someday when I get to keep the tax return I’ll pick me up my dream rig which is the mojo cat casting rod with a penn fathom 15 LD2 reel. Altogether you’re looking at almost a g’ tho so that will wait. A couple of bps whuppin sticks or tiger elites casting rods with abu Garcia 6601 c4s in the rod holders, hot thermos of canela and an aloftv hoodie I’ll be gtg! Hella good video I always enjoy visiting with you by watching your vlog. I’d love to see you and Chris Flores do one together! Keep doing your thing.
Oh and back on the day I preferred pline or maxima mono now it’s trike be big game or maxima mostly and hell yeah on the heavy leader. I don’t do braid yet I hate the idea of tearing up my guides.
Excellent video.i live on a city lake around 135 acre lake in your opinion what weight sinker should i use since there really isnt current in the lake.I catfish from my dock...
The omniflex is great and perfect for channel cats i recently decided that i wanted to convert my walmart brand tackle bag into a catfish storage tackle bag and i plan on doing same thing you did go to walmart and buy pyramid weights and the 1 or 2 ounce bullet weight. Now i can have tackle bag for channel cats and the backpack for bass.
Best for live bait is an egg sinker depending on Rod for weight with circle hook or depending on bait size for weight size only use 8oz for live bait stair down or on slip float reason being is bait size key out from going way out from where I want it but your gizzered Shad live bait bass carp, hybrid, crappie, striped, drum, anything under 3lbs of course due to laws all bait comes from stocked pond. Plus all I fish for is flatheads unless I use live crappie blues favorite. Monofilament is best because it Stretches great for circle hooks
Well if these a gravel bank that I can probably use any 3 of those rod holders. But if its Rocks a d boulder that I'll just find small spaces to out my rod holders in so that I can sand them straight up
