it was cool listening to this band evolve. I am so lucky to be in my prime during the early 90's. The metal and doom scene was killer. RIP Cathedral, thanks for the great trip.
I remember in the early 90s getting a cassette from Columbia House, with various metal artists and Cathedrals Autumn Twilight was one of the tracks, got me hooked on Cathedral!!!
This is the first English metal band , who was in 🇨🇴 Colombia in the 90s , and then after 10 years I saw, the lider vocal(Lee Dorian)with the drummer in Angel Islington (London) eating pizza in (pizza express)I was really lucky to see (Cathedral) for second time again in concert (marquee shopping centre)
Just a heads up to new listeners this band is an Acquired taste you may or may not like Cathedral but from what I gathered here is my opinion I think this album kicks major ass from front to back and this album isn’t their greatest work but this album is solid..... the riffs on here are heavy, groovy, the music on this album has its serious moments and has some fun moments as well and is super catchy and just plane out rocks!!! Now about the vocals all though they are death metal in nature they almost have a singing spoken word type of flare to it the one thing I thought was odd and really unique about Lee Dorrian’s Death vocals he can do Vibrato with his death vocals now which I have never heard before and are very unique.the vocals on here are not jaw dropping by any stretch but they are kick ass and do what they are meant to do and fit the music very well overall this album is a 7/10 for me anyhow take care everyone.
I have a “not for sale” Cd that was sent to my friends house. The old tenants of the house wrote a heavy metal magazine in the mid 80s, but had since moved. In the late 80s and early 90s a lot of music was still sent to that address and as a total 18 year old headbanger at that time we got introduced to a bunch of little known artists. Forced Entry, Cathedral, Devastation, Primus and so forth. However the coolest thing we got was a pre release cassette of Temple of the Dog.
Is it just me or is this missing Voyage of the Homeless Sapien? I know it was on Cosmic Requiem but for some reason I remember it being on the Soul Sacrifice cassette I had. Getting old and losing memory, I guess. Still They put out so many great albums and EPs in the 90's.
I have the original CD that this was ripped from, and its not on there. I dont know if it was ever on the cassette version. Hope that offers some insight
I use to have the cd in which it was a combo of Soul Sacrifice and Statik Magik... Voyage of the Homeless Sapien was on that... as part of Statik Magik
