Where was Catherine born? Her accent doesn't sound completely American, maybe I'm wrong but I seem to perceive smatterings of a British pronunciation here and there, a bit of non-rhoticity, for instance... Could it be that she was once upon a time trained in Edith Skinner's "American Good Speech" and traces of such linger in her speech? She's got a beatiful and expressive voice, by the way.
