Cat and her family was smart to contact a lawyer. Even if she wasn't considered a suspect, innocent people can accidentally talk themselves into trouble. It's worth the money to get legal representation and follow every single piece of advice.

Talking to the police and "presence of mind" don't belong in the same sentence. Whether you're guilty or completely innocent, talking to the cops can only ever hurt you. There was a case of an innocent man who was convicted of murder _because_ he gave the cops his alibi. They found a witness who - mistakenly - put him near the crime scene, which turned his _real_ alibi into perjury, which was used as evidence to convict him. Had he simply shut up, he would have walked free due to a lack of evidence and wouldn't have spent years in prison until the real murderer was found through sheer dumb luck. The lesson is pretty clear: the moment cops start asking nosy questions about you, you shut up and get a lawyer.

Damn, it makes a HUGE difference having a lawyer by your side during an interview - whether you're innocent or not. Lawyers think 2-4-6 steps ahead; read between the lines; understand the police's intents; detect narrative shifting attempts on their side etc. And THIS one's a particularly good lawyer. "Oh look, she's so happy and carefree during the interrogation despite knowing her boyfriend murdered his parents, she's heartless". ...You mean the parents she didn't even know were dead? They were not publicly confirmed decreased at this time. She was fully cooperative with the police, and it was the information she gave the detectives that blew the case wide open in the first place. She also is recorded sobbing and even getting physically ill in the first interrogation, because she was so worried about the Haldersons. How heartless of her. 🙄 "But the prison texts!" What about them? It was before the trial, Cat was not aware of any of the evidence they had on him because that is sealed up until the trial to prevent poisoning the jury pool. At that point she now knew Bart and Krista were murdered, but believed Chandler was innocent. He kept on lying to her, and if you were in her position and the person you consider the love of your life is being accused of murder, and they insist they're innocent, you'd probably believe them, too. Cat was a young, naive 20 year old at the time this all went down. None of you can say you've never made bad decisions at that age, or trusted the wrong person. So don't be a hypocrite.

I know, I was used by a sociopath for 10 years, devastating, and I never knew until it was way too late. Even people around me TOLD ME and I was still blind as a HAPPY Bat in a bubble. I know just how she feels and just how she lived and conducted her daily life. Buzzing along , happy as can be and "Settled" in that bubble. People like that, like her, like me and others, are PRIME targets and the favorite prey of manipulative narcissistic parasitic sociopathic predators. Sad but True....she is no longer that thing I guarantee you, neither am I and we are sadder people for it, but it is a change required to keep going in this "new life" with a new personality. I've watched both parts of her first interview, and now I feel so stupid for assuming (even for a short time) that she was in on it. Based only on her jail texts and calls with Chandler... She was living in a state of strong denial and cognitive dissonance, hence she wanted to believe that Chandler was just falsely accused or such nonsense. She knew very little about the background info related to the case, while Halderson was feeding her lies from jail, non-stop. It's always easier to believe the 'pleasant' version of events when it comes to realizing that thhe person you love is a horrible monster, and additionally he made an absolute fool of you. Plus, when you're 21, even though you're highly intelligent (Cat IS), your less advanced emotional intelligence and naïvity is a lot more powerful than your rational&critical thinking. Like, "unconditional love" and shit 😢😥 Poor thing❤❤ She said in her 1st interview that if Chandler would turn out to be the murderer, her mental health would collapse. And I'm sure that has happened to her since then. I hope she's getting the help she badly needs. (Therapy, therapy, therapy. )
@Ocrilat
@Ocrilat Год назад
Agreed. Don't feel stupid, though. It's not easy to look stuff like this without bias. We're not trained investigators, just an audience trying the best we can. And most of these interviews are of people who are already convicted...so we almost always only see criminals being interviewed, rarely witnesses being questioned or suspects being questioned and removed from suspicion. Watch the Jason Mengle interview to see another good example. He was the top suspect and he's a bit odd. But he goes from #1 suspect to #1 witness during his police interviews.

she realised he is Guilty when she handed this snapchat photo for the police and the next couple of days the police announed finding the remains of his mother.. as for the jail calls, she accepted them because she wanted to give him false hope that she is on his side and he can get out of it.. because who knows what would he say if he got desprate or felt like she batrayed him!.. like the amount of evidence she gave the police.didn't leave any space for his lawyers to even try building a defense!.. so she wanted him to keep his not guilty plea and shut up until the trial.

Always hire or request a lawyer, ESPECIALLY if you are innocent. So many people try to do the “right thing” and help the police but accidentally talk themselves into a lengthy, expensive, reputation destroying legal battle and possible false conviction when they misspeak or something is interpreted with improper context or followup. Your lawyer can help you give the police the information that you know and they need without incriminating yourself.

She mentions the remains being found without any emotion whatsoever. And yet she continued talking to Chandler via prison phone; clearly in an ongoing romantic relationship. I’m totally confused! The good news is pretty soon Darrell Brooks will join Chandler at the same prison. Since the only person Brooks cares about is his mother wonder how he and Chandler will get along when he finds out Chandler is there for killing his parents.

Now Darrell Brooks and Chandler have the same Appeals Attorney Michael Covey. Give it a year and I'll be surprised if Covey finds any appeals case that will fly through the Appellate Court.

@@sharonhoyt2133 This is why there are lawyer joke books. Then many scummy lawyers become judges and dirty politicians. It’s a messed up system.

Wow u can see at this point even though he was arrested a week prior , that she still believes everything else about him. She believed him still about why he needed the ice and hydrogen peroxide . I wish we got to see how she talks about him now. I feel so bad for her. I hope she learned not to be so naive. Like the excuses he made about his paychecks is literally the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard .. who would really believe that? Clearly his dad didn’t

Yeah when you get involved with someone like Chandler. You want to believe you knew him better than anyone else (at least it feels that way in any relationship) and you want to believe the media’s got it all wrong… anything but the worse case scenario. But overall, I don’t think Kat, and his parents were that naive. People are upset they went along with his BS blindly. But I think they took a lot of what he told them with a grain of salt. But they did take his word, most of the time cause they believed they knew him as a person. But sometimes the dad stood his ground. Like his parents made him pay rent, even with told them lies of him not getting paid on time. They were like “Nah, we know you have money 😒 you better pay by Tuesday.” And he would.
