Catimor Hybrid CLR-resistant Coffee Project at the Kona Research Station 

March 7, 2023 presentation by Andrea Kawabata of UH-CTAHR on their Catimor hybrid coffee leaf rust-resistant coffee project taking place at the UH-CTAHR Kona Research Station in Kealakekua. She will share about the basic history of the coffee leaf rust resistant trees at the Kona Research Station and their project to determine coffee quality and suitability for Hawaii’s coffee industry. She will also share their harvest and cupping results from the 2021-2022 season, and harvest and blind tasting results from the 2022-2023 season. Then, she’ll provide some insight into her attempts to replicate their Catimor hybrid trees and to graft scion onto liberica rootstock. Lastly, she’ll discuss their continued plans for the 2023 season.
