At the end of this comparison, you mention 11 speeds instead of 30 speeds, but if we take into account the cross-over factor, the Villager actually has 15 usable speed combinations, so the difference may not be as wide as one would initially think. If Catrike has figured out the gearing well (which they likely did in their design phase of the MAX), then I would imagine that the real difference between the Villager and MAX out on the road is that the MAX would not have as much of a high-end speed potential, nor as much of a low-end hill climbing potential. Hopefully Catrike nailed it so that the average targeted rider will not come up short on the MAX. steve
The max won't roll thru a standard 32" doorway.. Unless you tip it on it's side and drag it thru the doorway. I wish trike manufacturers would make the trikes 30.5" wide so they would fit thru a door... I never leave my trike outside, it would get stolen, but i struggle shimming it thru the door because they are all too wide..
Angling the trike, putting the boom and one wheel in first at an angle, and then swinging the rear of the trike away from that angle, will allow for 32" doorway entry depending upon the width of the trike. It would be an interesting experiment to see if this wide MAX trike would fit using that method. steve
