Catriona Morison performing "When I am laid in earth" from Henry Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas during the final of the Cardiff Singer Of The World competition in 2017.
The Scottish mezzo-soprano won both the Main Prize and Song Prize that year.
Catriona Morison began her professional singing career in Germany, initially with an opera studio in Weimar. She subsequently joined Oper Wuppertal as a company artist, and became a company principal singer soon thereafter.
Following her win in Cardiff, Morison became a member of the BBC New Generation Artists scheme for the scheduled period of 2017-2019. She has since performed at opera houses all around Europe, including Cologne Opera, Bergen Opera and Salzburg Festival.
In summer 2019, she made her BBC Proms debut, and has been performing at concert halls around the world.
