Gonna be learning this for no reason other than someone asking me for something interesting about myself and I go "well I memorized the choreography to the Jellicle Cats"
I find it very sweet that you clarify who Grizabella is for that one person who stumbled upon this video and isn't obsessed with Cats like the rest of us xD
Girl... You are AMAZING! I hope you were the dance captain when you were in the show because you got it RIGHT! I worked with Gillian many times and was in the final 4 yrs of the Broadway company that closed in 2001.
I was wondering if you can make more of these. This was totally what I needed! I recently got into Cats and now it is all I can think about! It would be amazing to learn more choreography!
Thanks, Emily!!! These videos are AMAZING! you dance so beautifully! CATS NOW AND FOREVER! THANK YOU, I now want to get my best costume out and dance in the backyard today! :) COPELAND!!!!
This is a great video! I've been slacking off of exercising lately, but I think learning this routine will motivate me to get back into it. I'd love to see more choreography break-downs if you ever feel like filming them. It's very helpful.
Everyone learns and retains choreo in different ways! I’d try listening to the song over and over again while counting out loud, in your head, or tapping your toes... the more you practice finding the counts that go along to the words, the easier it will be to marry the two. Hope that helps :) it takes a lot of practice!
Sorry , but in which old version was this used? This looks like the modern choreo, not the old one, the old one had the butts facing the audience doing a half turn, not a full one?
Hi! I’m not 100% sure why, but our griz had to enter downstage left instead of the usual upstage corner- meaning our choreography was adapted to work with the updated blocking! I’d still consider this to be the original choreography despite that step being done rotated 90*
@@dancingwithemily3337 oh OK, thanks! Thanks for doing this btw. Trying to figure out the steps with just the 1998 movie and some clips on RU-vid isn't really the best way to start dancing...
The Golden Raspberry True. She did played Demeter in the Broadway revival. I could’ve sworn that this track of the jellicle ball must be from the Oasis of the seas production.
Great video Emily! I’m not a dancer at all, but I am a huge fan of Cats and The Jellicle Ball is my favourite part of the whole musical. Just curious, what production of Cats were you in(local/regional production or one of the ones you mentioned?) and what Cat did you play? Also you might enjoy this version of The Jellicle Ball I did on something called Mario Paint Composer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9sZUjgwkczI.html
