He sure did! He got me on my leg two other times, unprovoked. He looks cute and innocent, but he's a tyrant. So I try to make sure he doesn't get close to my delicate cats.

He went all in for sure, and I was wearing a long sleeve top under my winter coat. I could not bear to think what it would look like if my arm was exposed.🫣

Well fed and cared for. He lives two door away. He tends to escape from his harness when in the yard, or when someone enters or exit his home. He eventually returns home. Since he knows cats live here, he tends to come here first and lingers.

It's not a feral. It's a neighbor's cat. When I lived in apartments growing up, there were 2 neighbor cats that would come visit us, sometimes hanging out most of the day. One was sweet and had a bad home. She'd come to our place for food and pets (had 2 cats of our own). Finally, her owner quit letting her out. She was visibly hurt that the cat liked us better. If that male wasn't marking inside the house, he wasn't being territorial or aggressive. The fact that he was looking at the food bowl indicates he might not be fed regularly, even though he's not skinny (even domestic cats will hunt or forage if hungry). Depending on our main character's propensity to feed her neighbor's cat, putting some food and water out when he comes around might be an interesting experiment. I agree with another commenter that the aggression seems to be from fear. I'm guessing the cat has had some mistreatment and is expecting that from any other person. That he left the cats alone backs this up. I would've expected him to go after the cats before the larger human, if it was aggression or territory. Sprinkle some catnip on deck. That might also be interesting. If he could associate positives, food and catnip, maybe he'd be less fearful and aggressive. The fact that he wanted back in after attacking the broom is interesting. We had a cat that was badly mistreated follow our cats home. She was a sweetheart, though. However, she was the same way with wanting in, where she'd seen our content cats go. We tried to keep her out, so she hid in bushes nearby and ran in when she had a chance. Went straight to the food. The cat in the vid reminded me of those 2 behaviors. If he didn't mark (pee), he was probably trying to figure out why your cats are happy there. It's entirely possible he's just onery, but it seems like he's not happy with his home and sees your cats being happy at yours. The problem then is that if the cat lightens up around you, you could have the same situation we did with the first cat where the owner was somewhat upset at us because her cat liked coming to our place. The 2nd cat never ever wanted go back outside, happy to sit and watch our 2 indoor /outdoor go out without any urge to follow. We knew who she belonged to, but my dad said, "well, cat made her choice and understandably so, considering the situation she was living in." Animals get personality and mental disorders from stress, environment, etc, just like we do, though. So, he may have some issues. My gut and history with several rescues, including feral, tell me he's been mistreated at home and is fearful of humans. The owner won't admit it, so no point making them defensive by asking. If the owner is also a woman, having a guy (who isn't fearful around a potentially aggressive cat) interact with the cat would be interesting. Remember, animals can detect our mood. If you're afraid, the cat will be reacting to that, with his own fear or aggression. If you're brave enough and he's being Mello, try sitting on the deck. Standing puts him on the defensive and could be viewed as you being aggressive, especially if his owner kicks him. Best of luck navigating that!

That's an affront way to ask a valid question! If you were more observant and less judgy, you would have noticed the screen at 0:37, behind the kitten. During the daytime hours, the screen may be temporarily removed from a particular window, to allow my cats the freedom to enter and exit at their free will. Hope this satisfies your crass assumption.😽

I have. I have given him treat (most times he wont take them) and he had allowed me to pet him in the past. He doesn't like being rejected, so he will attack when I turn away to leave. He also attacked Mallory when she tried to walk away from him. His owners are doing a better job of keeping him inside these days, so I don't see him as often anymore. I will definitely try being more nice to him on our next encounter

He doesn't want food, he comes over for social interaction, and unfortunately, my cats want nothing to do with him. Under this stressful situation, he will not eat. I know, because I've tried. He is well fed and cared for at his home. He is an indoor cat, that occasionally escapes.
