Cattle moves improve animal health both mentally and physically. Cattle simply enjoy moving to a fresh recovered paddock to discover succulent treats and new territory. Fly pressure on cattle are greatly reduced by constantly moving them.

Finally moved mine out of a semi-permanent paddock this morning, first official rotation beginning for them on the new farm. Everything went smooth as butter, they acted like they'd done it a thousand times. I moved them around in the subdivided paddock quite a bit before we ventured out into the temporary fencing this morning so they had a little experience. What fun, they're so awesome. A person doesn't realize just how much power and force is involved with cattle until you have to really get in around them much...I didn't at least. I knew they were big and had respect for their size but it's just different when you get in there walking around with them. The level of respect I gained for their power and sheer size just pegged my meter, lol. Awesome animals!

What does seed clipping involve? Why is it done ?
@Digger927
@Digger927 4 года назад
@@rontiemens2553 Using a mower to clip the seed heads off high while cutting as little of the actual grass as possible. It's done for a few reasons. It can help overseed the pasture and it also helps put the grass back into a vegetative state which is higher in nutritional value for the livestock. Seed heads are also an irritant to livestock's eyes, making them watery and encouraging face fly pressure to be worse.

"The more plant surface you have, the more dew you will catch". Didn't see it that way. And a lot of that dew will run down the stems and be catched in the litter. It's amazing how it all fits together. We are in the third drought year in row. Many collegues harvested only half the hay they usually cut.

Cattle look great. I’ve started your process, but unfortunately on a weekly basis due to my work schedule. Even so, I’m seeing improvements with how fast grass bounces back.
