Um, Eartha Kitt would love to have some words and cat-like tussles with you from beyond the grave! She blew Julie and Lee out of the water. These ladies just acted too tame with forced cat-traits that came off as an afterthought that they were playing this sort of character. You could have pictured them playing any woman in a costume. Eartha actually EMBODIED the cat-persona with her body mannerisms, her facial features, and especially with her speech pattern you can BUY she was Catwoman, which is why hers stand out the best.
@@devontehuntley6274 I live in a world where they are ALL great! Ok except Halle Berry, but i dont blame her, she's an awesome actress. Its the director thats just not my cup of tea. Peace love ❤
@@Lesfleursmalefiques Halle Berry did a good job too. It's just everything else in the movie pretty much that overshadowed her work. The lighting, the editing, the fast-paced scenes was just all too much. It was like the director couldn't figure out if he wanted to do a superhero movie, a drama movie, a romance movie, something for the urban community, etc. it was just a number of things the movie was trying to be and just didn't pan out overall.
Holy Heartthrob! As a young boy, I grew up watching Julie Newmar as Catwoman and Diana Rigg as Emma Peel. I guess that's why I could never find my ideal woman. I searched my whole life for a woman who wore skin-tight leather all day and could never find one.
@@ksy4747 Somebody remarked that Julie Newmar had a resemblance to Famke Janssen, who played Bond villainess Xenia Onatop in the 1995 James Bond picture “Goldeneye.”
This scene from the Batman tv series is a classic. Adam West and Juile Newmar played this scene very well. The scenes between Adam West and Julie Newmar were great. May Adam West RIP. So, all of this lovey dovey business was just a trick. One of the best lines in tv history.
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom Superheroes will always be pre-pubescent comic book cartoons, no matter how much Hollywood increases the budgets to hide that fact. I mean c'mon, flying, living underwater or outer space, coming from fucking space, x-ray vision, bulletproof, invisible, able to crush tanks or stop locomotives? No serious human can take that seriously. Not that there's anything wrong with fantasy, I love sci-fi, and don't have a problem with them making these. Just call it what it is, cartoons for kids.
The 1st and finest looking Catwoman of all time. Julie was a world class beauty that should have had a bigger career in films. She had everything going for her. Julie and Lee Meriwether being my 2nd fave Catwoman - no others after the 1960s came close to these two screen Goddesses portraying the iconic Catwoman.
Julie isn't just the quintessence of femininity, she's a tremendous physical and vocal comedienne. Physical comedy isn't easy. You either have the sense for it or you don't. Every scene she does something that makes me laugh to tears. 😁😆🤣🤣🤣 To me, nobody will ever top her beauty and instincts.
I always noticed that, too. She was great as Catwoman, obviously. But for more than just her ridiculous physical beauty. She had near perfect comedic timing, and she knew how to play the role with just the right amount of Tongue in Cheek attitude.
@@basilmarasco1975 I don't believe enough people truly _know_ that about Marilyn Monroe. She was pretty terrific at comedy, but got so little credit for it because, well, she was beautiful.
Even as a little kid back in the day I still noticed amazing moments like 1:36 and looked forward to Catwoman episodes the most for those alone. But as an adult I gotta say her "Cat-rotee" moments are just too adorable 🤣😊
One of the most beautiful girls n the world had such a crush on her since my living doll. She should have had a way bigger career than she did she was so talented and beautiful
I think she wasn't able to work as much as she' liked as she has a disabled son that needs a lot of care. She's not only beautiful, she's a devoted mother who gave her son the best life possible.
I used to watch this as a child. Catwoman was mesmerizing. Couldn’t take my eyes off her figure in that outfit. Absolute perfection. And something about her diction/voice was so cool, confident and dignified.
Julie was a smart lady. That decision to wear the belt on her hips to draw attention to her slender waist is one of my favorite stories of an actor modifying a costume to improve it.
@@lloydkline6946 It's still one of the best Catwoman costumes. I like all the 60s Catwomen, but I think Julie is my favorite with how fun her and Adam West's back-and-forth scenes were.
" ... happiness '' indeed ! Julie Newmar is the best ...everything . ABC should have found ways to have her Catwoman in more episodes and reasons for her to showcase her dancing and singing . Amazingly beautiful , talented , and intelligent woman .
Being a kid watching this I thought Batman and Catwomans' give-and-take was just mushy but as an adult they are hilarious! I read that Adam West said the only thing the Batman series was missing was a laugh track. And he's right.
"He *is* a bit of a bore with his 'Holy!' this and 'Holy!' that..." LMAO right when I think this show's self-awareness peaked, it jumps over the moon with "Yeah we know this is some dumb shit, but let's have fun with it" 😂😂😂
That Catwoman costume was way ahead of its time it's so fucking good even beats the today's costume , whoever playing Catwoman here is sure damn hot ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!!! Came to the comments hoping someone would offer this word so I could look it up. Now, I have to find a way to incorporate it into my everyday vocabulary 😉. Bruce Wayne/Batman had a vast vocabulary.
I’ve watched this scene over and over again and I can tell all you folks out there, Pfeiffer was beautiful, Halle Berry was beautiful and so are the others but all are not a patch on Julie. There’s only one Cat Woman, Julie!!!
@@Dakid015 Nope, I watched re runs of Adam West as Batman in the early 80s. Julie’s just got that panache over Pfeiffer and Berry. I mean that scene is so teasing even though at the time she was old enough to be my aunt.
I hope people don't take it the wrong way, but "Happiness" wasn't exactly the first thought to cross my mind at 1:37. Julie Newmar is the Catwoman that all other must be compared to, and in my mind still supreme. Eartha Kitt was predatory, putting me in mind of a Panther, but Julie Newmar was a sexy, playful kitten always toying with her prey.
With the greatest respect, i did not know Julie was still with us, but to my jaw dropping surprise, at 87, she is sassy, classy, and rockin' her chassis!
Probably my favourite kids tv programme from my childhood Great actors and actresses, evil ( but funny ) villains and beautiful girls - what’s not to like ? Never took itself seriously and just brilliant entertainment every week “Same time Same channel” - I loved it and am eternally grateful for being a sixties child
This is timeless, it's all so hilarious and entertaining despite its relative 'age.' A big credit not only to the writers, but of course the actors involved.
I remember seeing every single episode of "BATMAN" when I was much younger and boy did I enjoy watching it daily. Please post only positive comments over here. ™
Campy perfection - I was 8 when I first saw this and almost 58 now and she's always been perfect to me. Plus she helps animals, and got those damn leaf blowers banned from her town - i tried but failed in San Diego. She's wonderful. :)
She was a crazy woman. LOL! Burt Ward recalled a book signing that took place where she told the younger guys in the audience that she wasn't wearing any underwear and referred to them as eager beavers.
Julie Newmar knew exactly how to play Catwoman. She was sexy and funny and the same time. The writing for her episodes are really good. Julie Newmar and Shelley Winters were the only 2 women villains I enjoyed on the original series.
I say it only half jokingly but this has always been one of my favorite TV love scenes. It’s perfectly tailored to this show, its characters, and its actors.
