Thanks Alan, it was an early start, but the highest tides were an hour or so earlier, but looking at the aftermath, I wouldn't have been able to safely video the scene....Bob
The sea and wind look very angry and menacing as though they are ready to swallow up the land at any moment ! Unbelievable weather you are having there Bob , meanwhile here on the east coast of Australia its supposed to be our rainy season but we are getting sweet fanny adams ! thanks for uploading Stewart
Thanks Stewart, although we are in Mid Winter, this is very unsettled weather, especially as we live on the Coast.....unfortunately we are exposed to the Atlantic Ocean, and with the Gulf stream over the UK at the moment, we're having the full force of the Atlantic......Best wishes from Wales....Bob
Thanks Austin, it was almost impossible to stand steadily with the camera, but thanks to the wonderful X920 it was captured without too much unsteadiness...Bob
Great video, captures the atmosphere perfectly you can almost imagine being there,we've just come back from a walk on the harbour and a run on the beach,Can't beat it right on the doorstep:)
That is true Robert, an excellent camera. Little secret, in manual mode you get even better results, difficult at first but worth the effort. Regards John
Robert Masterman Hi Bob... Controlling the light conditions in manual mode, shutter speed and iris. In manual mode, quick menu, you can turn on the zebra and see exactly where there is over exposure. In manual mode you can also choose for the Auto Focus and obviously for Manual Focus if you prefer this? We both know how good this camera is in low light conditions and in Manual you can take it up a notch if needed. Have fun exploring this great bit of kit to get better results in different conditions...Regards John
Very good Bob, I have been up to the point beyond the lighthouse on a breezy day in September and was staggering how much more windy it was near the end.
What a wild and desolate scene Bob and it just shows how the weather can affect one's view of a location for the worse! I'm sure Burry Port is a much nicer place than it looks here. Excellent hand held footage and a tribute to your steady hand and the superb quality of your Panasonic 920. At 3.10 to 3.20 the view is remarkably similar to the view we have locally here at Irvine Beach - in our case the land mass is the Island of Arran, off the North Ayrshire coast. I have some footage, yet to upload of that location in very similar conditions which may interest you. Best wishes. Ken
Sorry Ken, this comment has only just turned up....probably blown off course ....Burry Port is a lovely town Ken, and the clip you refer to is the view across to the Northern shore of the Gower Peninsular...You must upload your footage...it sounds great...Best wishes....Bob
When I was a little baby seaman , in the Army , of all places! Sea like that was known as either "a bit lumpy" or " 'arry roughers" 'arry being Jackspeak for "very". Regards , Pete.
Thanks Pete, it wasn't so much the waves this morning that attracted me it was the strength of the winds whipping accross the harbour mouth...it was difficult to stand....Bob
Bob, you are really getting a good feel for your camera work, it get's better everytime I see something new. Like Wayne, said, yes, you we're getting blown around, and I looked for surfer too, Rob, lol California Dreamin', :o) Good Video Bob!
Thanks once again Larry, it's having such positive comments that keeps me going.....I started photography back in 1962, and still love it to this day...Bob
Just another rough day in the office for you then Bob...lol. Cracking selection of clips..in just my kind of weather...i just love storms !! How did you manage to keep the spray off the lens, and where you sheltering behind walls etc to keep the wind noise down ? Thanks for making the effort to capture this..brilliant......Steve.
Just found this at the very bottom of the comments Steve.....Thanks for your obsdervations....I did try and shelter behind a small 8ft square building, and using my body to shelter from the winds, but it was throwing me all over the place.....I had to wipe the lens quite often as it gets covered in salty debris...which is not good! The camera is superb at keeping the image steady....Regards..Bob
When will it ever end Bob? Still makes for some interesting images with the light, sky and swelling sea. Microphone performed well in a gale too. Chris
I know Chris, more storms forecast for this coming week. I'm only using the camera mic on these uploads, and it's protected by a home made jammer...but it copes very well in most conditions....Bob
You are getting blown around there Bob. to when i got up it was overcast and 38 f it is now about 40 wet snow all day. Just a few days ago it was cold enough to freeze the nuts off a railway bridge.
Conversation overheard at Burry Port:..Look out there on the Jetty what is that Chap doing? Response: Oh that's Bob Masterman He will endure about any weather to make A RU-vid video... LOL Good Video Bob
Erhard Baltrusch The tide was on it's way out at the time of filming Erhard, high tide was at around 07.30 this morning....Thank you for your comments...Bob
