For anyone as confused as I was at first, it's a girl dressed like a boy to not get unwanted attention. "Orphaned at a young age and abandoned by her distant relatives she became smitten by Ruka and agreed to become his thrall a willing donor of blood. She disguises herself as a boy to avoid unwanted attention."

Far from it..I mean Yona never turned into a boy! And i felt like the ML couldn't hit on a girl 'cause of his destined one. So in the meantime.. he was kinda going for a guy. And the 2nd ml said he doesn't care if she is a girl or boy!

The character is a girl in drag as a boy because she became homeless after her parents died and then lost her job… according to the series desc on CrunchyRoll. Idk why that would make her cross dress but I don’t mind 💖💖💖
