Mungo Jerry is the name of the group. The name was adapted from a collection of poems by T.S. Eliot called "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats". One of the poems is entitled "Mungojerrie and Rumpleteaser" - The Broadway musical "Cats" is based on the same T.S. Eliot work. Just thought you'd like to know, so there you go. Yea!! You're reacting to it!! ❤❤ I requested it about a week ago!! ❤❤ He was beat boxin (I'm old so not sure how u spell that) Those were the sideburns everyone wanted back then. My favorite line is "if her Daddy's rich take her out for a meal, if her Daddy's poor just do what you feel" He was unfortunately a one hit wonder.

After watching the video, I realized you never saw my comment suggestion lmfao. I suggested it on the Ram Jam - Black Betty song because Mungo Jerry's other version video is outside and weird like Ram Jam. Glad you found this one on your own then! LOL

I was 13 years old in 1970. Listening to this on my 9V Transistor Radio tuned to WOKY AM Radio Milwaukee (we didn't have FM stations yet). Best summer memories. The song of my childhood! (This and Hot Fun in the Summertime by Sly & the Family Stone) Hope you are well, Leo!

As an....older person, I can tell you that there wasn't any laws about drinking and driving. Yes, it's a just common sense but a lot of people drank and got behind the wheel. But this was a great summer song.

"Peace anthem" lol I love it :) I tuned in to see if you would catch this line and what you'd say: "If her Daddy's rich take her out for a meal, if her Daddy's poor, just do what you feel..." Wha??? Hell, that's cold, dude! Take us poor girls out for a meal too, you ***! Hell, we need it more than the rich girl anyway. Lol.

This one reminds of being 4 or 5, listening to the 45 (and even 78 rpm!!) records I had inherited from my father, who died just before I was born. Even though I never met him I felt I knew him through his drawings, photos and records collection which went from classical music to blues, 50's rock & roll, mambo, jazz, 60s pop/rock and more. This was a fav of mine back then. :)

Mutton chops , for that style of sideburns.....Elvis styled it in the 70s

I wouldn't say Elvis' sideburns were ever big enough to be called mutton chops. John Lennon had mutton chops in the Beatles' Hey Bulldog video.

Fun song! Played it a ton when I DJed. Looking forward to you getting back to some NIGHTWISH! "Storytime" and "Ghost Love Score" from Wachen 2013 are awesome! The later being perhaps the best performance I have ever seen. Give it a try! (You did Romanticide from that concert before, but it is a fair bit heavier.)
