How could a 500 kilo rock that takes 10 men to move be classed as a loose impedement. The rules official should have been fired in the spot. Surely intimidated because it was Tiger.

Reed...he knew exactly what he was doing in that bunker plus he's been seen doing numerous things wrong over the years.....I think the best line I ever read about his behaviour was that he should no longer be offered the benefit of the doubt.....worst thing about his behaviour is that he's actually a bloody good player and would win without the need to break rules.

Patrick's is the worst. Intentionally moving sand, claiming random balls in trees and worst of all was while he was checking his ball position in the rough (which bounced) you could see him lean in and drive his ball into the ground. You won't see it on this video but its clear on some of the original playbacks. That was the most scumbag move I've seen.

I replace my ball as close as possible to my marker not nearer the hole if there's blemishes (barron holes) or craters in my line. Fully understand that it can be a slippery slope professionally but some shoes should also be looked at for damaging the area around the holes.

@@JJ-li3lk Understood. In a casual round, that's never going to be a problem. However, strictly speaking it's against the rules because it's not on the exact spot. #1 - Why would you say that a referee’s actions were stupid when he correctly ruled that the rock was a loose impediment as defined by the rules of golf. #2 - No, Using the rules of golf the rock is not defined as part of the course, it is defined as a loose impediment #3 - Not sure what you mean by “technically” entitled to ask for a ruling. You are either allowed to ask for a ruling or not allowed to ask for a ruling, it has got nothing to do with “technically”. #4 - Tiger was allowed to request a ruling so I do not understand why that would be considered “pushing it a bit”
@SaintKimbo

@@glenwood9190 i don't know why you simply cannot see that the Woods incident was, while within the rules, clearly not in the spirit of the game. It is supposed to be a game of honor, first and foremost, and that rock was put there by the Designer/Constructor for aesthetic, and/or strategic purposes, and was never meant to be moved, YOU know that, TIGER knows that, as everyone else knows that. It, definitely, wasn't the 'honorable' thing to do, and the 'loose impediment' rule is universally regarded as simply being able to, quickly, move small objects out of the way, not rocks of the size that it takes half a dozen, or so, men to move.

I am not a huge fan of Jon Rahm save for the fact that I think he is a very very good player. I say this because when it comes to golf misdemeanours, especially rule infringements it is important to be unbiased in one’s opinion of the player as well as one’s opinion of a particular rule. The definition of the word “moved” for the purpose of golf is different from that in the dictionary. For a ball to be considered to have “moved” in golf it needs to be known or virtually certain, virtually certain being defined as 95%, to have left its original spot and come to rest on another spot. If the ball wobbles, shifts or oscillates but returns to its original position it is not considered to have moved. Using the video evidence provided, and there is some stipulations to the use of video evidence, I agree with you that maybe a penalty was not warranted

Phil knew what he was doing and he did it out in the open. Many people don't realize that if he had not hit his moving ball and knocked it back towards the hole the ball would likely have rolled off the green and into a notoriously difficult spot in a bunker. This shot would have been incredibly difficult to get the ball close to the hole while risking it coming right back down the hill and into the bunker again. Phil immediately understood that and determined that a 2-stroke penalty was the lesser of two evils. Radical, yet effective.

The shot from the deep grass disturbs me. I play lots of shots from deep grass where the ball is held up by the grass. Just placing your club behind the ball where you want to hit it, will move the ball, slightly. And not in a good way most likely setting the ball deeper in the grass. Further, I don’t see how any advantage would be gained by deliberately moving the ball that way, even if the movement was left or right. It seems to me the officials overreacted on this one being afraid of not making a call and favoritism. Given that all players have to deal with deep grass, and not every hot is photographed to this level of detail, I would have let the shot go without penalty.

Here are a couple of instances in golf that are undoubtably the most insane rule infractions. First, if the infraction is not caught and brought to light during the hole the player is playing so be it. A person other than the rules official does not apply. Second, if golf is governed by “strokes” how is a “ball movement” considered a stroke if the player never “swung” at the ball. Even in a practice swing the players intent was not at the ball. The rules committee that instituted these were totally inept at their decisions. Just saying.

I've played the game for over 64 years now - and was a scholarship golfer in college. About Phil Michelson's cheating. For me the real "cheating" is the ridiculousness of the design of courses. I have no interest in playing the "modern" expensive courses. I much prefer to play a Donald Ross designed course - where good shots are REWARDED and poor shots are not. Michelson had gotten his ball to within less than 10 feet and because he was on a "cliff" on the putting surfaced, he had an almost certain "penalty of 2 more putts. So he was "penalized" - by the design - for having hit his approach shot to within 10 feet. This is lunacy. Then the "elite" "aristocracy" has to render "punishment" for his getting frustrated and angry on an unfair green. How about we start putting "Putt Putt" obstacles on the green. Why not create, in Michelson's situation - a vertical wall - for a REALLY severe penalty. What we need are clown's heads that depending on where one is on the green one might have to putt through. So what is the bottom line. The recent news that Jon Rahm has contracted with LIV golf. The PGA and big money created the debacle of pro golf today. And now they are paying the price. They have turned golf into a "gladiator" "celebrity" "sport". It's a cartoon.

Tiger Woods having his people move a rock in the bunker is the most blatant transgression of the rules
@kyle381000
@kyle381000 6 месяцев назад
No, it really wasn't. There was nothing in the rules which said that a player could not have assistance to move a loose impediment.

Good day Kyle, I am an amateur golfer myself, have been playing for some 24 years now and I assure you that there is no way that any sane person can see a huge rock as "loose impediment" not even if you have been smoking weed!@@kyle381000

Sergios swashbuckling act in the bunker should not have resulted in a disqualification; for the love of a baby burra burrowing in the Sahara. So, you dazzle the fans with some Spanish conquistadorian slashes....I mean, he didn't drop his trousers and add a dumper to the sandbox.

Sergio has lost any respect I had for him when he first surfaced.. But Tiger has been given more leeway with the rules than anybody. Don't forget the mushroom incident during one of the early World golf championships at Valderama, I think. It ticked me off so much, I wrote a letter to the USGA, but never got a reply.

Why did the one female golfer only got a 2 stroke penalty for not placing her ball correctly on the green when the other female golfer got a 4 stroke penalty for the same infraction?
@kyle381000
@kyle381000 6 месяцев назад
Each of them received a 2-stroke penalty for improperly re-placing the ball. However, Lexi received another 2-stroke penalty for failing to record the other penalty on her scorecard.

Reed is the only real cheater in this list.I think the ball in the rough was the worst thing ever, he should have had a penalty just for picking it up. Tiger did nothing wrong in this case, I mean if there is a Little Rock in front of his ball he is allowed to remove it same goes for a giant one. Phill was just stupid but knew what he was doing, and excepted the penalty, I think cheating is getting away with penalty or improve your lie.

I would have no problem with that, but he should have been the only one allowed to move the impediment. Good luck on that!! Dont think it would have been allowed for anyone but him.

at that stage Tiger was God; a rock that size is NOT a loose impediment. But the worst Tiger incident was his claim in the Players' Championship (which he "won" )that his drive went 250 metres before turning across the water hazard instead of directly over the hazard which would have meant a drop in front of the tee. None of the fellow players in the group had the balls to dispute his claim and the broadcaster would not replay the incident either which would have shown what actually happened. I had it taped and reviewed it multiple times. I have my own thoughts where it crossed the hazard.

How can anyone think that rock was a loose impediment? It was clearly part of the course design! Stupid decision by the official.

Patrick Reed is clearly a cheater. He moved the sand behind his ball in one tournament in order to improve his lie in that bunker.He has a storied past of questionable decisions while tournament playing. He puts off a negative vibe and continues to push the boundries of fairness and integrity when it comes to the game of golf.
