The developers musta made a mistake when leveling this quest level 8, because even if you're above that at level 15 or sometihng it's still hard. But without a doubt, this video shows the best strat for beating this boss.
Yep. I'm in here right now cause I saw that the quest level was only 8 (I'm 11) and whoopdidoo what a nice lil surprise. Do I now have to get all the way back since I can't fast travel outta here
Me too, from all the things he is using I only have the bow and the tripcaster. Now thanks to this video I know how the tripcaster works. This is my second day trying to defeat this part of the game and I will try again tomorrow
I just went waltzing into that cauldron thinking I’d probably just have to deal with a few watchers. Little did I know that great boss would be waiting for me. The first thing I’ll be buying now that I’ve killed it one of those rope weapons to pin them down.
Dude, thank you so much. I went in here thinking it would just be a little exploring, little did I know there would be one hell of a boss waiting for me. I was on level 13 and had no idea how to defeat this, but your tutorial made it so much easier. Thank you!!
There’s another way. Long way in the corner, there’s a bunker where you can hide. You can kill this thing with normal arrows. 16 to 24 to 31 hit points every time. All you need is normal arrows.
Oh wow. Good to see someone still playing this game. I started playing this game, loving it..its only three days for me so far. I already maxxed out all crafting. Heading into the cauldron. Level 18. Hopefully it will easy for me.
The first video of this I saw was of a guy who was lv 35 and basically hit it with two ballistic arrows (or something like that). Then I saw some of the comments in that one that basically said what you did in this video. I didn't use the rope caster, but basically a combination of the trip wires, shock traps, and using a fire resistance potion and just bashed the thing with my blade. Went from dying 5 times in a row to winning it first time.
Wow. I had the same experience. Died around the same number of times at level 14. Then I used I did exactly as you did. It was the first time I had to use fire resistant potions. Booby trapped every entrance to get rid of those damn watchers, and I just used about 6 shock traps to keep him immobiled. I don't know what the devs were thinking labeling this lvl 8, but now I'm gonna make sure I'm at least 2 lvls above any quest b4 starting it
This quest is absolutly Brutal. I got into it with level 8 and can't get out. I don't have the hooks you use. This really took away my love for the game.
Was interested in seeing what others did to try and beat this. I was level 12, get pretty confident going on for a level 8 battle, ended up getting ridiculous trounced the first time. Second time I just booby trapped the entire place with wires and traps. Strategically choose corners to run into when it chased me and then, if you strike it at the side, it does quite a lot of damage while it’s frozen in place.
I like how when you first scan the creature in the center it claims it's a friendly Machine level 18 you activate that that thing at the top all of a sudden he's an enemy what the hell
How the hell 😂 I was only a level 11 passed this part yesterday and my hits didn't do anything!! I was in like a 10 minute battle with all the arrows, traps and swings I was using against it. I had to craft arrows twice throughout the battle 😂 smdh
Really useful, thanks! I'm one of those unfortunates who wandered in at level 11. Luckily I do have my ropecaster with me, so I'll give it a go. And yes, seems I'm several years late to comment - drawbacks of pc gaming :)
Just beat this today, didn't realize what I was walking into either, only lvl 8 but in my opinion dodging the fire and the hits and hitting the thing was the easiest method for me.
G'day Paul. Thx for this tutorial mate. I have wandered in here underprepared and have been using the balloon bombs which just are not quite good enough. This idea should get me over the line. Thx again. I'll give it a go tonight.
I just got this for the black Friday sale. Got the complete edition for $9.99 from Gamestop and I'm at this part. I pretty much did something similar but it took me a little longer since I was pretty much out of resources by this point. Gonna go grind some materials for the carja tripwire and slingshot
I also made a mistake not carrying enough materials for ammo of the traps and I only have 1 full bar of medicines to heal but guess what i have beaten all of them it was like a suicide mission to be honest.
I placed trapwires everywhere and when the thing got stunned i just went and attack it with the spear. Took me 20min+ to figure out how to kill it but it was worth it
See, this is what happens when I don't experiment with weapons. I did manage to get through this guy, but man alive was it not easy. Took a gazillion arrows and occasional whacks of my staff when it charged. Tying him down like Gulliver was obviously the best way to go. Got any suggestions for those Shell Walker things?
When I had to kill the crab in the cauldron, I put all of my bomb traps on the bridge he has to walk over in order to get to you. Six bombs was definitely enough
@Paul over your a life saver man I had to try this 50 times before I gave up and found your video much appreciated I will give this a like and sub to you because you helped me out a ton
@@tardwrangler1019 Kind of. If you like Dark Souls, give it ago. Just be warned, there's clearly some hit detection shenanigans going on as I've had arrows pass through enemies and you're going to start noticing how strafing causes your projectile attacks to veer in the direction you're aiming and how easy it is for Aloy to stop sprinting because there's a stone or the ground goes up a couple of inches and how the controls aren't perfectly responsive. I hated this boss battle entirely because of how the carious bits of the map will stop you sprinting and you have to either change the toggle option to active when you press it be prepared to get killed when it chargers. Fighting them outside of the cauldron is night and day and far more fun. Oh, it's very easy to from having hundreds of a resource for ammo to running out of it in a few large battles when you use explosive or freeze weapons for any consistent length of time.
A good strategy but this is on easy mode. I’m playing the game for the first time and I’m playing it on hard mode. It takes a lot more to carry her life down. There is also a lot of little robots that come out to attack you.
The boss is not overpowered. If you did a couple of weapon tutorial quests, you already know how to beat it with ease. Destroying the huge flamable fluid deposits on it's back and under his head cause two big explosions that will make a ton of dammage. If you are using normal arrows, try precision arrows instead, they are a lot more effective in tearing machine components off. Also use ice to induce the "brittle state" that will temporarilly make the machines a lot more vulnerable to dammage from arrows.
Such a shame that I did not know to bring that weapon with me. Now I can't seem to go back out to bring better supplies. Or maybe more skills. Edit; I did eventually get him killed after a couple more tries.
additionally, you can also craft a ton of blast traps and set them around the perimeter, they do hundreds of damage and can melt the boss down in a matter of seconds
So wish I knew about this before I fought the cauldron boss. But I’ll keep this saved for future plays. That way it doesn’t take me longer then 2-3 hours 😅😅
Wish I would've unlocked plenty of your weapons before I went in but your video give me some good ideas on how to make use of what I've got and I finally managed to beat the so of a bitch
I took me 10 times because I sold the trip caster but I just BEASTED it. You just have to damage and run damage and run. Stub then with the sling keep nocking the components off and make sure you take out the little guys first. Geez that was tough & I’m level 18
I just use a shock tripcaster the same way you did then I put a blast tap next to the trip wire it killed it instantly. I just need to kill the watchers after. They you set up the trip wire was a smart idea
I use a similar method but I play on ultra hard difficulty. Use all my blast wire and shock wire and all my blast mines....swallow a resist fire potion and have at it. I still get killed over and over...I don't have any freeze though.
How did the game designers expect me to figure this out on my own? I don't understand their rules of physics! I want my 60 dollars back for this game because of this part.
That's a bummer. It's a great game with just enough challenges and yes, it sure can test your patience. As for this video, well, this is just one way to defeat it and it's arguably one of the better ways but it's not the only way. Honestly, I think it's a matter of trial and error. Making it too obvious or easy is not very fun or challenging. It's too bad that this part spoiled it for you...there's so much more to explore and discover.
I beat this rn for the first time lol I was lvl 16, it was actually pretty easy lol I was just hitting him with arrows and rolling around 😂 hit em with a couple critical strikes when it went down 😂
All-mother bless you. But, I dont have such weapons. I have just bow and arrow. this is tough, trying for a few days (Can play an hour in two days, maybe). Let's see, but good strategy vid.
if youre underleveled like level 12 my start is just circle the arena with the tripcaster shock thing and when hes fighting i sggt you dodge 2 times and if hes charging i like to dodge 3 times for safety
Good on ya mate, I didn't think to find one of those rope casters, is that the item you get from the Hunting Grounds? I'm getting round to this area in bit took a little detour with other side quest, and a bit of the story.
@@paulover195 You get those from any merchant, not so bad when to buy either. It's cheaper than a pint of the good stuff, so I didn't have any worries over getting one. Yeah I'm just getting around to this game, but it's lovely it is.
@@ThePrettyeyes341 behind one of the tower, there is a triangular shaped boat like thing. Once you override the core you can just go inside that and crouch and hit the machine consistently. They will keep searching for u, but won't find u. May be this is a glitch. But it works.
Pfff this level is really hard ive got my difficulty on ultra. All the other things are doable but rn im in this thing ive tried my own way for like 30 times and died 30 times now im gonna try this hope it works
This was pretty easy... I'm only lv 8 just keep hitting with your speer😂😂 it will die eventually took me only one try 10 arrows en 1 time healing. So for the people with low level keep hitting it with your Speer soft attacks and hard attacks. Before I forget try to get under the dragon and hit his throat and belly 😊
Little did I know that my ass didn't have the weapon to place detonating traps (': Rip me but it does look easy so I may try it on this boss once I can return!
I beat it with my sharpshooter bow with armor tear then used my sling shot with shockers then critical shot with spear...... then repaet.... i was lvl 12 on very hard difficulty
