Boooaaah! I think Jeff would spread his arms when listening from whereever he is! RIP; Jeff! Such a tasteful hommage to that beautiful song, thx to the funtastic band!! THIS is a unique 4-tet indeed, professionell in every second. I love this tune meanwhile as the original! The bassman is a sledgehammer, what a playing and sound!!
He actually broke it on the song he performed before this one and by the looks, he thought he was done until he decided to restring onstage :) But definitely a nice touch!!!
Awesome playing by everyone- the electric guitar and that fretless bass has an amazing tone… the keyboards, wow. Yeah, these are all fantastic musicians giving this tune a great rendition… definitely an emotional trip like Pat Metheny taking you up to the heavens!
Truly absolutely...... genius talented group.... all of them are the bright future of jazz music as the precious replacements for those who grow older.... like Larry, Lee Ritnour, Jeff Beck, Clapton, Frank Gambel... and many others... these members all got their own ways superior EXCELLENT skills. ... applaud !!!!
Très belle version de cet titre d'une énorme sensualité à mon sens, avec un solo de basse puis de guitare magnifiques, super mis en valeur par le batteur vraiment top! J'adore ce quartet de Tom.
I am so glad I hung in there,... Wow! Tom has amazing technique and dynamics! My heart was breaking seeing him changing a string prior to the song,... for any of you that have played out live, there is nothing worse than that feeling... good grief! He introduced the song with such precision. Holy, Bass Solo! Great video to have on RU-vid!
I am a "B" series guitar player, but I always have two guitars at my gigs; just in case I break a string, as I know the audience will have very little patience with interruptions. Not withstanding the owner of the place telling us that we will not be welcome a next time. Such is life... but I believe Tom Ibarra could leave for a bathroom break in the middle of a solo without having anybody getting irate.
Now this whole group is tight and responsive to each other. Amazing arrangement of this song. The drummer was very sensitive and used excellent sound dynamics as well as the keyboard musician. Each member of this group is a great player as an individual, but more importantly was how they allowed breathing room for each other and for the song itself. They were so relaxed and just let it flow out. Wow, amazing how it all flowed together.
I was just about to say 'bass player stole the show' and then at 10 minutes fireworks started. This is the first time I've heard Tom. It sounds like there's a Bireli Lagrene influence in his playing. Un chef-d'oeuvre, Merci beaucoup.
Love the long intro... For me the bass steals the show. Great tone and musicality without being flashy. Jaco Pastorius would be smiling down on this disciple...
Instantly apparent, like after just a few notes, this guy (and band) is pumping a Beck level of special rendition here. Would do Syreeta, Wonder, and Beck proud
Everybody here is locked in to the overall groove and feel. Sensitive playing throughout. The drummer's brush work is beautiful; nice shift to sticks as the intensity grows. The bass player's solo development is very musical. The piano player creates nice textures and adds very interesting rhythmic tension when he has his space. Tom Ibarra is very melodic as usual. He blends long note phrases with dense lines; by doing so he creates a memorable solo. Where do you buy the CD/MP3/ album?
