Hi All,
Today I wanted to raise awareness for a very aggressive predatory pest that you may or may not find in your aquarium.
Damselfly and Dragonfly Nymphs can wreak havoc on nano tanks and shrimp aquariums, so it may pay to be aware of what this creature looks like and how to avoid them.

if you find a dragonfly larva, release it in a pond or lake near you! they help control the mosquito population and every mosquito larva helps

I just recently lost over $200 worth of neocaridina shrimp due to a couple of these in my tank that came from some dwarf water lettuce I ordered from Amazon. I stared at that tank hours a day and never saw them. I ended up emptying my tank and starting over because I thought something else was wrong, until I found them in the bucket I was draining water into. Disgusting terrible little monsters!

YES they are terrible and disgusting! Blech. My beautiful shrimp have been dying off too! Stupid me night water lettuce from some kid of craigslist. I didn't think much of it at first, even tho he had his tanks in his garage. He must not have lids on them and now I've found them in my large aquarium as well. They are black, sneaky and horrible! I just killed three today. How long will these things hatch for? I've had the floating plants for over six months! My shrimp are goners.

catch the fry or shrimp as best you can, transfer to another tank. get a paradise fish or similar gourami and keep it in there for a few days without food, problem solved. similar to new plants, put in the gourami tank for a few days, game over for nymphs

I’m so glad. I am redoing and old tank that I had just sitting in my room. I had it full of plants that I pulled out of my grandparents pond. I was cleaning it out and once I drained the tank, cleaned it, put the new substrate in, than did several water changes. I than saw a little shrimp like thing right next to the glass so I trapped it in a cup and did research. I can’t get a direct answer on google so hopefully someone here can help me out, I saw a brown damselfly nymph in my tank a few weeks ago but I was unable to catch it, it snuck out of the net when I got it snagged, today I caught a green one and I’m stupidly hoping that it’s the same one from before but it’s changed colour after moulting, if that’s even possible?
