Thank you for very well elaborated causes of fatigue. I felt this for the first time and i wanted to understand the main cause and now i am well informed and educated to understand what to do to improve my running.

For endurance (low intensity) exercise, the main thing that is mentioned here is glycogen depletion in muscles and liver. Why then do muscles still fatigue in a runner regardless of whether they continue to feed themselves with glucose/glycogen during an ultra marathon. Secondly, on a keto diet the body is burning minimal glucose in the blood but instead is metabolizing fat for energy production. Even in this state your muscles will still fatigue after a long enough endurance exercise, even though it has copious amount of fat for energy at its disposal. Conclusion is that there is something else at play causing muscles to fatigue aside from just available fuel for the body!

Dale Purdon humans have limits. You have to grow to increase your capacity, no?
@dalepurdon8948

@@robd5995 My question is based around that which effects those 'human limits' at a biological level. ie. aside from energy sources. After a fair amount of internet research on my part there is still very little known regarding what really causes muscle fatigue (barring energy stores). One big factor which is widely spoken about is the development of the mitochondria which become more efficient/effective in its energy usage, but there are no conclusive writings on anything beyond that.

Dale, please read the 6 papers on theories of fatigue as it originates from the brain, by the renowned Dr. Tim Noakes. I think you will get a more nuanced view of fatigue origins that is outside of the muscle. You do not run with muscle alone, we are an integrated organism.

@@GeorgeRon Thanks Ron. I assume you are referring the central governor concept/theory. Aside from subconscious 'instruction' to muscle motor units in order to maintain homeostasis and keep performance at a 'safe' level, I am interested in knowing more about the physical conditioning/changes that occur in the skeletal muscular system itself which attributes to endurance/stamina.

I think the Brain will farigue also lol, he is the one who send texto to muscles to contract, and then there are the joints that will hurt also...

I thouht that ATP remained the same as Pi was increasing... but atp depletion was mortal. Do you recommend some paper about the topic?

Hello, my left bicep is alot softer than my right. Im an Armwrestler, so my biceps are under alot of pressure. My biceps were harder before I started working out. When I start flexxing, its hard, but after 5 seconds it starts to get extremely soft, and I don't have the power to flex no more. Is this the same thing you are talking about in this video?

Hi sir, could you recommend some research papers on the topic? Especially about the calcium release relationship with muscles fatigue. Thank you.

So then would a ketogenic diet lead to faster onset muscle fatigue due to the lack of glycogen from carb restriction?
@EliasBogus
@EliasBogus 5 лет назад
From what I have understood a keto diet aims to restrict carbohydrate intake to an absolute minimum, minimising how much glucose is stored in the muscle for intensities dependent on anaerobic glycolysis. So in the context of weight lifting, I would think so. However for long duration, moderate intensity work I don't see it being a problem once the aerobic motors have started working. Pretty sure there are heaps of anecdotes on that point.

what is the difference between muscle fatigue and muscle soreness??
@eduardocastaneda8369
@eduardocastaneda8369 5 месяцев назад
Repeat bout effects due to muscle damage. Muscle fatigue limits crossbridge from happening so contracts get difficult to do. Muscle fatigue could get to muscle soreness due to damage of the cytoskeletal framework. Easy solution, Lower your volume. 2 year late reply but better now than never right
