Definitely the best in my eyes. Bluecoats was fun and artistic, but nothing beats the groove into ramming lasers. I was pretty high up and it still sounded articulate. I lost myself for a second

8:48 He in fact did not lie. Opening Quartet is pre-recorded and lipsynced, ballad vocals are live with a boost from the synth, the trombone soloist talking at the beginning of segment 4 is live (he had a differnet joke every show), the scat-off is live (we tried micing it but it was picking up the snare feature behind it) BTW the timpani is hiding behind the side 2 drum major. Random fact I don't think anyone picked up on: above the "Still Not Done" moment the Brass is doing the tiktok sheesh

I marched in the 90s but I am not a "all new DCI sucks" type. There are elements from old school corps in this year's shows that have been missing from a lot of shows from the past 10-15 years. I am not sure exactly what it is...maybe power? Fun? I don't think it is incompatible with the artistry and precision of "new" drum corps and I'd like to see more of it. BTW the still not done year was 1992. I know because I marched Cadets that year and we came in second behind them. Maybe we would have beaten them if we had added some "still not done" to the end of our show. 😂

As someone that got into DCI in the early 2000s and marched from 05-09, you're not wrong. I think it's literally mostly musical choices. There are great modern shows but I agree there was something exciting this year that's been missing across the field for the last decade or so and it's just good music selections. There are shows that have it from year to year but it used to be close to the entire field and now it's at most a few shows per year and it's no wonder those have been the winning shows. Exciting music = high GE = good scoring.

Yes sir, 1992, Championships in Madison, WI. This was the first championship for the Cavaliers. You Cadets put on a fantastic show too - it was nice to see you both beat the corps that played the Star Spangled Banner for 11 minutes 😂🤣😂🤣👍

I'm 99% sure the vocals ARE pre-recorded. I know in 18 we boosted the vocals with pre-recorded tracks through the speakers. Also, I asked Sam in the lot after this show.

@@camilleon352 The brass solos and spoken part are all live. In 18 we sang full voice but supplemented with an early season recording, otherwise there's no way we would be heard past the first few rows. I imagine they did the same for the beginning of the ballad this year. As far as the quartet in the beginning, I guess they decided those mics were best to pick up brass playing but not in the ideal vocal recording set up (background noise, the boominess of Lucas Oil, the spread of the quartet). So they sang unmic'd each night but played a recording they could rely on from the speakers. It would be the same 4 voices, just a better recording.

From my ear, the intro quartet sounds like someone went ham with pitch correction. That typically doesn’t work when sharing microphones, and especially not with any software you can run in real time.

I was there Saturday, and it was my first time seeing DCI in person ever, and it sounds soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better in person. As soon as I walked into those doors on the North side of the building I heard the wonderful show that Pacific Crest put together, and my mind went like !@#$%^&*()()(*%?:{)O. I had no words to express how amazing it sounded in person. I can't wait for next year to see what a normal year is like, and see all of the cool drum corps like: Carolina Crown, BD and SCV that unfortunately couldn't make in to Indy this year. The videos for Carolina Crown, BD and SCV that the showed on the screens were really cool though. It makes me happy they could at least get together, and have fun doing some things locally. I got to say the high quality production BD and SCV did was insane.

Although sadly my first ever year watching DCI in Indianapolis wasn't a competitive year, the experience was so amazing, despite a season that was cut over a month and a half short, these corps still managed to produce a finals-week level performance. My older brother marched with Phantom Regiment this summer, and I was so stoked to learn they had won fan favorite. While I was a little biased, Cavaliers was a close second for my favorite show. such a fantastic hornline, and the battery was phenomenal. I was lucky enough to meet some people who marched Cavies this summer while at the airport heading home. I dream of making this good a corps, and I am hoping to be a performer instead of a spectator for the first time in the 2022 season.

Pretty close on the bass feature transcription. The Mega Lazer bar was triplet based (Um acktuahly 🤓) so it was less dense than transcribed. Good job actually executing it tho. The mini bass window you said yeah bass to in the beginning were 18-lets at 192. Thank you so much for enjoying the show man.

1992 Still not Done! 1990-1995 Cavaliers had an incredibly “Noble” sound and appearance. There was a certain sensation and emotion when these shows took the field. 1992 Battery was the thickest sounding line ever, fielding 8 Bass drums at one point in the show! Hats off to D.C.I. Hall of Famer James Campbell percussion arranger and instructor in 1992!!

Since '92 I've said the lyrics as: "PLEASE A-PPLAUD" ...and it was used in '93, early in the show. Just went through and see that many people have referenced it as 'Still Not Done' and the '93 reference. I have no idea where I got "PLEASE A-PPLAUD"

I can see my brother and me in this video. Finally! I'm Internet famous (not really)! We were in aisle seats 8 rows up on the 45 yard line. I was wearing a "Drum Set" t-shirt from your merch store (beige). Did you see it when you were sitting at the drum set during the Marine performance? I was going to yell "Have a good morning EMC!" but didn't want to get you in trouble. Everyone looked pretty serious. By the way, the Cavs opener was a metal song called Themata from a band called Karnivool. You should learn it on drums!

I love this. What I even love more. That the voice of DCI is still around. The announcer. Been there since before I marched on 1991. I have to say, to see a show that really gets back to the gritty musicality and blow away and generally very entertaining. Is awesome to see. For so long drum corps has been grown and evolved into more use of props. So to see a show that is back to the basics. Love it.

Still not done... 1992. Was the summer before my HS senior year and they were in residence at the BOA Summer Symposium. Got to learn a lot that week and I called it-- their first victory world championship. Saw them progress all summer and even though Cadets and Star were incredible and gave them a serious run for the money, Cavaliers took gold.

@EMCproductions The quintessential Cavaliers ending lick in the drumline was from 1992 Revolution and Triumph. I was in my college drumline at the time and of course everybody copped it after that, but in '92, everyone was saying, "Please stand up! Please stand up! Please....stand....up....please....stand up, PLEASE.....STAND.....UP!!"

1992. I saw them at a local show with my then band director (76-79 snare line) and thanked him for the introductions, but everyone else is doing "just marching band shows" and I was going to Indiana in 93... *sigh ...then I saw the Cav's show, and agreed that I would audition if Star didn't work out. He and I both changed schools, Star didn't happen, and I was so disillusioned with college that I joined the Marine Corps (yutt). Anyways... 1992, one of the best shows I've ever seen.

One of the guys who does brass for my band is the same guy who works with the cavaliers. His name is freddie and we all love him. He was inducted into the hall of fame this year.

I marched Cavaleirs and aged out in '92. For us (The guard), we didn't call it "Still not done", we called it "Jing-le BELLS". The Drumline probably might have called it "Still not done" though. I just remember rehearsing in the basement at Triton College when it was rainy and stormy one day, and we were trying to learn some choreography in the same large room as the drumline. It was basically a huge cement room for wrestling or something. They were rehearsing the ending bit, and every time they got to the "Jingle bells" part, we would just stop what we were doing and wait till they were done because we couldn't hear a damn thing. It was deafening. We would just yell "Jing-le bells, Jing-le bells...JING-le BELLS, JING-le BELLS...JING..LE..BELLS!!!!

This show changed my mind on the shift for more "tech" (synth) in shows. Like more "visual art" (props I guess) and such... They put it together very well. It features all very very well. And thats very very hard to do these days...

ok i like this show, its going back to the basics, not to be a dci boomer (especially the g bugle guys, i have one and its just a harder trumpet) but i like that the show is not relying on props or spandex uniforms to get a point across, just drill and music (probably biased considering my favorite shows are star of indiana 1991 and cavaliers frameworks)

Our drum instructor at CNU marched Cavaliers on snare in 83 (i think, maybe earlier?), so literally half of the book style, impacts, visuals, and of course, STILL NOT DONE, of Cavie's drumming are sprinkled into our books. Of course what we play isn't as high-level, but it is still a lot of fun to play.

Okay,, so I did kind of get mentioned there towards the end. Seeing as how we did talk about the "Still Not Done" after the show was over. But I will say that when my guys did it was more of a tribute to EMC and a I used it as a teaching tool for the ending of the third movement. Eric be sure to DM if you would like t to see it.That is if there is away to do so on here.
