Fraternal greetings from Co Londonderry. Lovely playing from all the bands. My Dad was in our Lodge's band, Knockloughrim Accordion playing an accordion from its foundation for 50 years. He's now 81 and tries to walk a little bit to the field every 12th July and Last Saturday with his fellow Brethern and Sir Knights for the last few years and still practices on his accordion once or twice a week. The blue collarettes reminds me of one lady who asked me why some Orangemen's collarettes are blue. When I replied that I did not know she said that she was sorry for asking me as she knew that I wasn't allowed to tell outsiders the "secrets" of the Orange Lodge. I then "convinced" her that she hadn't forced me to fib and the fact of some collarettes being blue wasn't a "secret". What made me think that this was amusing was the fact that then I was an Orange and Royal Arch Purple lecturer and a few years later I became a Royal Black lecturer too. Was I offended that this lady asked me something about the Loyal Orders that I didn't know? Heck NO,I don't take life THAT seriously. I THINK that it MIGHT have something to do with the colours of William III's regiments at the Battle Of The Boyne .
I expect this is a peaceful parade everyone looks happy and relaxed, the bagpipe section is impressive, they march very well. The last tune sounds more Irish what is it, how are relationships in this town nowadays? great film thanks for posting.
Hi there! My son is in the pipe band - with beard on far side back row! Cavanaleck Pipe Band. Look them up on RU-vid especially when they play with Murley Silver band. The accordion band has my brother and his daughter in it! Big fella on this side playing Piano Accordion with his daughter in front of him! Relations are good in town at present. Are you from here? Check me out on Facebook - Carol E. Smith.
