"helps maximise my productivity" (and avoid divorce). Noting, I turn around and behind me and there are krabs and ropes all hanging off a (single) skyhook placed on a door frame in the lounge room, and two caving lights still sitting on the bedroom floor in front of the wardrobes not in the basement! Whoops! I had better remove that before my other half appears! Your caving storage "area" is fantastic and reflects your meticulousness and clarity of your video productions, plus editing kills. Thanks for showing, it's great!

I really enjoy all your videos, it nice to see clearly very knowledgeable and competent caves talking about caving. I sometimes just come back to look at your amazing store though, I am very jealous of it! I have just moved how and upgraded to a 4'x4' walk in closet, a full 9' tall though and it's very luxurious compared to what I have been used to.

wow. nice storage room. I'm interested in the big wall climbing that you have done and plan on doing in the future. Wasn't expecting to see that much climbing gear in your storage space. The organization is great, looks like that would be a great help with efficient packing for upcoming trips. I need to come up with a hanging wall system for my climbing gear as the way I'm keeping things currently is less than ideal.

My general video making priority is: 1. cave trips, 2. tutorials, 3. gear reviews. I maintain a video project list that has more than 50 ideas. Much of what you've mentioned is on that list. I'm not an expert in cave or rope rescue, but maybe I'll collaborate with someone who is... and thanks for watching!

Did u make a review on the AV suit? I reviewed a new one i bought recently but now i noticed after only several underground trips, some of the inner coating is starting to wear.I also think i will modify it and seam seal with urethane wetsuit glue. The outer material though is very abrasion resistant. I know there are diff models available and bought the cheaper one. Normally, in a wet cave if not below 10C in the entrance waters, I'd just wear a surfing steamer over light thermals and good to go or entrance waters close to 4C a 5mm neoprene suit over thermals for >20 hour trips (I get cold LOL).

Where can one get those side packs? They seem very comfortable and easy to clean, and not as cumbersome as the big european-style kitbags that they use over here. I have only used a military surplus backpack and it's a pain to clean and dry, so I'm looking for an upgrade. By the way, the sewing machine joke was so subtle, I laughed a lot with that one 🤣
@DerekBristol
@DerekBristol 5 лет назад
sergarcarr The side-packs I have were made by Lost Creek. Unfortunately this company was sold and the new owners appear to no longer make them. On Rope 1 makes a comparable (and in some ways better) version of these side-packs.

What model of side pack do you recommend for SD caves like Jewel and Wind?
@DerekBristol
@DerekBristol 5 лет назад
Most cavers have been using Lost Creek Packs, but they don't seem to be producing packs anymore. The Black Hills cavers developed their own version called the "Pahasapa Pack". Recently they've been working with OnRope 1 to have these made again. Check with the Pahasapa Grotto or OnRope 1 if interested... and in case you weren't aware, all off-trail day trips in both Wind and Jewel requires a side pack.

What is the name of those cave suits?? Is there a device that maps 3d as you move though a cave?
@DerekBristol
@DerekBristol Год назад
I have many cave suits made by a few companies that no longer make them, as well as AV, Meander, and Landjoff. There are 3D mapping tools that utilize Lidar, but it hasn't been developed to the point where it works while traveling. Someday soon though.

While there are people who will find this boring, I'd prefer not to be engaging them in any sort of major logistics if they just give up and move on. My place may be a bachelor pad disaster area, but at least I have some idea what some manageable improvements are.
