The graves are dug to standard depth, but because the ground is so Rocky, the stones are separated from the soil. After the grave is filled in, the stones are placed on top, forming what's called a Carin. This was done to prevent animals from disturbing the grave due to them being dug shallow back then because they were hand dug, and since it was such hard work the graves were not dug as deep as on the east coast.

You are the man when it comes to making videos! I've been watching you for 3 years maybe a bit more and I remember when you only had 10k subs and you stopped because of weird people but then you started it again and look at you now. almost 140k subs. I'm so proud of you how you have overcame your obstacles. You have totally owned this and there is no other channel like yours. You are one of a kind and so is Jax. I love the colors in your videos and your energy. I wish the best for you and I will always be watching as long as you have a channel. Be safe out there and keep up your great work.

Really Well said Hey, I've Been following Eric since the beginning of his channel and respect and have learnt from his sharing That so many ppl have no comprehension of what life is like through our own eyes, or even try to do that.... i.e... Eric has done an Incredible Job emotionally over the years just dealing with that and has survived both emotionally and fiscally... so has definitely also earnt a Big Kudos from me to him for being Better than the sceptics as Person, in the long run, Cheers

As A Child I remember the wood burning cook stove. On Friday nights there would be a galvanized wash tub placed in the corner next to the stove and filled with hot water heated on the stove for my weekly bath. Had to be squeaky clean for the trip into town on Saturdays. The outhouse brought back memories also. No electricity we used kerosene lamps in the house. Kerosene lantern on night trips to the outhouse. Another Great Video Eric Huggs for Jax.

Hi Eric, nice video. Seeing you return to that restaurant got me wondering -- would you consider making some Top 10 videos for travelers? Things like Top 10 Cheeseburgers West (East) of the Mississippi, Top 10 Local Brews, yadda yadda. Thinking you probably have old video archives to grab stuff from .... Of course, we know that Top 10 Salads will never be on the list (unless Angela does it) :-)

Another great video and so well narrated. You make our day with your personality and sense of humor. You seem relaxed and happy and maybe Angela has something to do with that. We watch her channel and she has a great personality as well. She tells it like it is and is down to earth. She is a great partner for you. Stay safe and hugs to Mr. Jax.

Hey Eric, Check the sensor rod on your air conditioner. Cat Litter forms a film on the rod and it won’t work the way it should. Sand the film off the sensor rod. You may have to take a wire and clip off to get to it. We have to do it twice a year because of our litter box.

That was a Knott’s Berry Farm property in the 50’s and 60’s.. Knott’s did most of the current remodeling that you see today. The Gablers who own Peggy Sues Diner near by took over the calico house restaurant in the 90’s, they’re ex Knott’s Berry Farm employees.. the Knott’s also own the Barstow station, which at one time was the busiest McDonalds franchise in the world...

One thing to keep in mind is that RV rooftop AC's are only rated to lower the ambient temperature 20 degrees from outside air temperature so if its 100 outside, 80 degrees inside would be considered operating properly. It's called a Delta T test.

A friend of mine who lives in New Mexico told me that almost no one has basements because not far under the dirt is all rock, like a huge sheet of rock that you really can't dig through. I'm not sure how far down that is, but most basements and graves are about 6 feet deep. Those graves in the desert are most likely pretty shallow. The big piles of rocks on top are to help keep animals like coyotes from digging up the graves and eating the bodies. My grandfather once caught a big woodchuck in the garden. He dug a shallow pit for it and put him in there (dead) back filled it and then put a bunch of rocks and bricks over the hole so the neighborhood dogs wouldn't dig up the woodchuck.

FYI. I’ve been going to Calico for decades. The hookup campground has been there for at least 20 years as well as the cabins. The restrooms were refurbished about 4-5 years ago. It’s the overflow and OHV part of the campground which is why the sites are so close. The nice hookup sites there are to the first loop to the right after the check in booth.

That bird was a quail. We’ve been to Calico before and you found cool stuff that we never saw! Thanks! They have a bluegrass festival there each year in May. If you’re back in the are then, you should check it out! I’ve heard that that lower campground where you were at times fills with lots and lots of OHVers. I think there’s a lot of OHV trails in that area.

You think that cemetery is strange? You should see the spirit houses in the Yukon and Alaska. They build actual mini houses over the graves and loved ones leave personal belongings in them. They range in size from 2-3’ feet high by 4-5’ feet long to the size of a small shed. It’s super creepy.

I just discovered your channel about a week ago and I have become completely addicted. I would love to be able to do what you do and I really appreciate you including us on your journey. I also love Jax's cattitude! He has an amazing personality. You have probably been asked this a million times and I apologize, but I am super curious as to whether or not you have ever considered traveling up into Canada/Alaska or down into Mexico. I know that it would be kind of a pain to cross the border, but--at least with Alaska--it seems a shame if you can't cross as many states as possible off of your list. Safe travels!

I agree with cleaning out the fins on the evaporator and condenser. However, your problem sounds more like a bad thermostat. RV thermostats are famous for wide temp swings in off and on. Go to Home Depot or Amazon and get a digital thermostat. Not real expensive, easy to install and digital thermostats are much more accurate. Enjoy your videos. My Wife and I have been RVing off and on for more than 50 years including 3 years full time 2003-06.

The birds are partridges. You couldn’t get me back in one of those caves, tarantulas, bats etc. this time of year the snakes could be out sunning themselves. Someone, maybe Destination Open Road, videoed this place before the cabins were put in their final places. Those are some steep prices for the little bit of room you get.
