This man got banned from the game's official discord in just over a minute as a "low-effort troll" and he still got them to put it on sale.

I tried utilizing lava as a source of money after finding a lava weep just outside of the stiltlands. Unfortunately, it was still early on so I had no means of using grenades to freeze-dry lava waterskins. I considered just buying every glass phial and selling it back filled, but thought that was way too slow and inefficient. Then I realized that I only needed a container to be able to hold its capacity in lava long enough for me to sell it, so I filled up glass jars I bought from the same merchants and sold those back to them full of lava. Happy with my newfound wealth, I proceeded to walk away from the merchant I just sold several jars of lava to only to come to an epiphany. I realized that I wasn't playing any old basic game, I was playing Qud. At that moment I thought to myself, "What's stopping the jars from breaking after I sell them?" That's the neat part: nothing.

This might be the greatest game I've seen that I absolutely never want to play.

My first death occurred when I made the extremely poor decision of dropping down several shafts, ending up in an underground factory and an endless series of conveyor belts that led me ever deeper. Eventually I ended up in a huge chamber called *The Cloaca* and was killed by a massive slug called SLOG. Afterwards I learned that if I somehow became friendly with mollusks I could learn a secret recipe from Slog that would turn me into a giant slug like him. I spent the next 15 hours working towards this goal. 10/10 would slug again.

Someone probably beat me to this but I went to the wiki for Nutty Putty Cave. The man who died was *far* from the first person to get stuck but he was stuck in such a way that he couldn’t get out without breaking a ton of bones. A rescue team even tried to get him but they couldn’t with a pulley system, and wouldn’t send anyone in due to the obvious added risk. In a sort of memorial for him, an agreement was made with the wife to close the site permanently with his body sealed inside. The area above the spot was also blown up with explosives to cause a collapse that would hopefully bury him in the rubble.

For real though, True Kin Praetorian is by far the best starting race/class if you have no idea what you're doing. It's so tanky compared to all the others it's ridiculous. Save the awesome Mutant powers for when you actually understand the game's mechanics and threats. True Kin, my friends.

At first I was like "this looks kinda cool, like adventure-mode Dwarf Fortress". But then, it hit me: Caves of Qud is transformation fetishism. You're supposed to become a mutant. It's sexless Corruption of Champions.

18:31 After playing this game for a while, I'd like to propose a more efficient way to do this. Instead of cloning the clone, always clone the original one. Then, when you use Proselytize or Domination or Beguile, use it on the main merchant. This will make every clone of that merchant your friend, and you can steal all their inventories without needing to use the ability multiple times just to ransack their belongings. Another thing of note, if you proselytize/dominate/beguile a clone, none of the other merchants would be your friend. Only befriending the original merchant converts the clones, and if you try befriending the original merchant after befriending a clone, that clone would not automatically be befriended anymore. Another thing to note if you're using dominate or beguile is that the merchants would turn hostile to you if you fail your domination or if you break your beguilement, but only after a screen transition (unless you fail to dominate in which case all the merchants become hostile simultaneously). To combat this, lure the merchant to one side of an empty screen close to the six day stilt, like a parsec nearby since the salt dunes are barren as fuck and start duplicating them. Then, befriend a farm animal or some other small critter (you can find a few in the pens in six day stilt) and bring them to the same place you put all the merchants, but on the other side of the screen. Befriend the main merchant, then go around every merchant and tell them to stay where they are to prevent them from aggroing and killing the critter. Now every time you rob their inventories, you can go befriend the critter before leaving so only the critter becomes angry and you won't aggro the merchants upon return. Of course, this doesn't apply if you proselytize since proselytize never triggers aggro but you need to basically invest everything into charisma to consistently pull off proselytize. Also, merchants won't restock if they are befriended to you, so always go befriend the critter to unfriend the merchants so they can successfully restock. 19:12 do this if you are truekin, but not if you are a mutant. Sphyx salt injectors don't give you precognition if you're a mutant. You'll have to either select it as a starting mutation or randomly mutate it later on (i recommend just starting out with it since it is stupidly powerful) Another thing to do is to clone bookkeepers, and befriend then steal all their books (they also have a chance to sell advertisements to the location of legendary merchants or schroedinger's pages. steal those too), then go to the center of Six Day Stilt, where the Mecha Pope is. To the left of the entrance is this girl who you can give the books for for an absurd amount of experience. EDIT: After fiddling around, I figured out that if you order your beguiled companion to only fight defensively, they won't attack you even after beguilement is broken and they're hostile. Do that instead of the critter thing. EDIT EDIT: Another thing to note is that though RNG can still be rerolled by precognition, certain things can't be anymore. For example, in the early versions you could use precognition, open up your menu and roll a random mutation, then if you don't like that mutation you can revert precognition and roll to something else. However, now you can't. Mutations, Brain Brine, and Drop of Nectar cooking can't be rerolled with precognition anymore. You'll always get the same mutations, same brain brine results, and same eater's nectar results. There is a way to combat this. Cooking and eating a Drop of Nectar (you can get these by preserving Eater's Nectar or randomly finding them on Chefs or Kippers in the Six Day Stilt.) will reroll all things you can't reroll with precognition. So now whenever you revert, cook some nectar before trying again for better rng. Also, Neutron Flux is not immune to precog rerolling, so you can still get a shitton of permanent armour by just using precog. Also also, Neutron Flux is incredibly fucking unstable. Dropping it or throwing it will instantly blow up half the screen, but you can transfer it safely inside a chest. It's very funny. EDIT EDIT EDIT: Metamorphic Polygel doesn't (it is really, really, really unlikely) spawn in merchants in Six Day Stilt, since the area level is too low and the merchants can't spawn high-level items consistently. Therefore, go to Yd Freehold (to the bottom-right of the map, past the mushroom forest and before the deathlands) and go to I think the staircare to the bottom-right of Yd Freehold. There is a plant at the very end called Tillifergaewicz. She is actually the most powerful merchant in the game, and consistently sells metamorphic polygel at like a 20% chance. If you level up beguile/proselytize/domination high enough, you can kidnap the plant and take it back to the salt dunes and do the cloning draught trick and make infinite plants and print polygel at an industrial level. Now you have infinite everything. Have fun winning the game.
