*how I view the versions of the song* V1 is the youngest of 3 siblings, loud and in denial because the the divorce between the parents. V2 is the middle sibling, depressed and sad, accepting the fact that it just won't be the same. V3 is the oldest sibling, not really seeing the views of the other siblings, but accepts everything with a calmer aspect than the others.

The year is 2099, we have finally collected all 6 Infinity versions. The world is now at peace, swaying along to whichever version they like most. Cavetown snaps his gauntlet, and everyone listening leaves Devil Town, back to the real world. Where, like Devil Town, things aren't perfect. But everything is going to be okay.

So I know it's probably about a divorce...But a lot of the lines make me think of the holocaust. The main one being: "we're all in our dressing gowns. Mines white and stripy yours is green and brown". Jews wore striped "pajamas" and nazi uniform was a greenish brown color. Then other things like: "We're all dead in devil town. That's fine, 'cause nothing's gonna scare us now". Not much explanation needed here. Also: "I forgot my name again, I think that's something worth remembering". Referring to the number tattoos instead of names. This is a pretty dark interpretation but I certian lines just make me think of it and it makes this song even sadder to me.

3:29 Here is super powerful to me He was taking things kinda slow before, and this shows how much he still isn't over what happened. And then after it gets soft again, sadder. Then it gets powerful again, kind of like hes saying he can get over it, because he's stronger than he was in v1 and v2.

For each of these versions, I see a new perspective. V 1: The youngest child that doesn't fully understand it, but knows, things will change and knows he's angry. He looks up too his older brother for support. (The middle son) V 2: The middle son that's just happy the shouting and fighting is over. He misses his older brother and sister. He remembers his brother as clear as day, but he barely remembers his older sister, that ran away before his younger brother was born. He gets the idea too drive his dad's new car. (Too find his brother? His sister? He doesn't know, the only thing he knows, is he wants too get him and his brother away from their home.) At one point while he's driving, the car skids on ice, causing it do tumble off a cliff, taking his, and his brother's, life. The same way it took his older siblings. V 3: The eldest son knew his parents never really loved each other, but he didn't mind, he missed his sister too much. One day, he feels her presence. He decides he's had enough of his parents, though he will miss his brother. He takes his dad's car (the second car) and drives as fast as possible. Halfway too the cliff, he sees the ghost of his sister, she looks happy too see him. She explains that, before their parents realize he's gone, he will die and they'll be reunited. She tells him not too worry, she's already experienced the same death he will and tell him it won't hurt. The car falls off the cliff. He opens his eyes. He sees his sister, she's smiling, tears are in her eyes. He feels his chest... No heartbeat. The sibling reunite by the end of each version. A complete family again. (Sorry this was long!)

For some weird reason i picture three siblings, the first is loud, rambunctious(?). The second is sad, slow. The third is the oldest and *cant* understand their siblings and continues to mock them on why they are they way that the are, but while doing that the third sibling start to understand them.

I agree with all your ideas of the versions but in V3 I feel like it's not just a calm older sibling. He seems mature and stronger, having dealt with everything with a more developed brain, he's been through the anger and the worry and grudges. This song reminds me of him talking to his younger siblings from a more experienced pov. Showing them it's not all bad and it'll get better. Trying his best to be the steady protection they didn't get from the parents. Being the almost guardian of his siblings brought a different more hopeful perspective to him. Like he's Trying to change the cycle but not forget where he came from

Version 1: A boy, his little sister, & -possibly- his friend run away from home after the divorce of the parents. They go to a place far away, a place where they think they're safe. Version 2: They slowly realize they're not safe & people begin to go missing. They're older now. The brother falls in love with his best friend, only to have him disappear as well. Version 3: An older version of the boy looks back at it. He regrets running away, and he still thinks about his best friend. He doesn't like to think about the past, yet he knows what he did was wrong, even if at the time he thought he was protecting the ones he love.

Ik everyone is saying how it's like Siblings and stuff, but honestly to me it's the same person singing it over and over as time progresses. Like V1 was kinda like, The angry, "no this can't be happening" kind of thing, almost like denial but it's like mixed with a bit of anger. It’s like 3 siblings, 1 is mad about the divorce but doesn’t understand it completely because they’re too young to understand so they are just letting their emotions out as anger 2 is just sad about it, they feel like it was their fault so result to self harming (the sinking teeth into their fingers) they are old enough to understand what’s happening but not fully yet because they’re still slightly too young 3 is the oldest, they understand what’s going on but still are upset about it and also result to self harming as it has the same idea of the sinking teeth into their fingers as the 2nd one does though they are more looking back and realizing about everything that’s lead up to it and accept it better and come out stronger than the other two That’s my interpretation anyways

To be honest, I love the idea that each version of this song is the perspective of three brothers, but it's really heartbreaking to see people saying that it's "unoriginal" to think that, People can and probably will go to the same conclusion I honestly live for the devil town brothers idea tbh, I even designed some ocs based off of that. Why is no one taking about how good the swing style sounds with this song

this song feels like acceptance. i cant explain it. both being accepted and accepting something that happened, just.. acceptance. like youve come to terms with something. numbness too, this song feels like something snd nothing all at once. it sounds encouraging, but also like someone has given up. it feels like prancing around, but your legs just nearly give out beneath you. like being exhausted, yet wide awake. all these feelings in a single song. all at once. its almost overwhelming, but if i had to listen to one song for the rest of my life, it would be this.

Heres what i think the story is for the 3 versions of cave two are. 2 full blood siblings, a older brother, and a little sister. then a adopted 3rd brother, the oldest. Their father started to get money from unknown sources, which started to worry the entire family, including the mother. The father wouldn't tell the mother where his constant income is coming from, causing the mother to grow distant. They argue alot more than they used to, and it bothers the 3 children. causing them to be stuck to their imaginations. all except the oldest. he was stuck. he knew the reality of the situation, and tried to fix it. it ended up making things worse, causing the parents to get a divorce. the oldest child had to get his siblings to somewhere safe, due to them not wanting to go under foster-care after the custody fell. they decide to go to a edgy neighborhood, of which is called devil town. The only reason they could go there is because they could afford the rental home. Every summer, the crimes there get more severe, causing them to feel "colder" when walking the streets. The father, out of depression, ended up killing himself. So they celebrate 2 birthdays, one with their siblings, and one with the mother. By the line : Hold my hands tight, we'll make it another night" is them saying 'as long as we have eachother, we'll be fine.' By the line : "I still get a little scared of something new, But i feel alittle safer when im with you" is them telling eachother "I trust you, I know im safe with you. By the line : "Falling doesn't feel so bad when i know you've fallen this way too" Is all them knowing their common, and being able to relate. they are able to vent to eachother and get understood completely. I see these as a kid reacting to each time their mom or dad gets divorced. V1- The first time it happened, they're upset and angry about it, but still have hope in love and achieving a "normal" family. V2- The second time it happened, they're more depressed this time and have lost some of their hope. V3- The third time it happened, they've given up on love and having a "normal" family completely.

Ok, here's what i think the three v's of Devil town is as a whole V1, The younger you sad because your parents went their own ways and separated, but you don't want to accept it. V2, The slightly older you, comes to terms with your parents being divorced, and is a little depressed because of that, still wishing they were together. V3, The oldest version of you is still depressed, because you know they won't get back together, but know they are happy in that parting and you have to be happy with that too.

You resent the world. Deviltown is your mind trying to find some sort of peace.

i see these three versions as the same person rweriting the song through their different stages of acceptance. the first is when everything is raw and new, filled with emotion and confusion and hate. the second is when they think they've gotten over it, but deep inside everything still hurts so much. the third is where they have finally accepted that they are sad about it, and they are allowed to show those bursts of emotion, but for the most part they have accepted what happened and they are able to live their life freely

As someone who struggles a lot with self-hate, I can really relate when Cavetown asks “How do you feel so proud?” Because I can never manage to feel perfectly fine with something I did without second-guessing myself.

I just saw that version it's honestly amazing, cavetown songs are relaxing and it clams me alot and the soft version is even better i honestly love it, cavetown is amazing.

I feel like the progression from 1-3 highlights getting older and getting a better understanding of the things that are happening. V1 feels scared and distressed, V2 feels like sugarcoating something, and this one feels honest but cynical and still a bit pained.

V1 : youngest is upset and confused about the divorce but gets over it quickly since they never really saw their parents happy together and usually saw them fighting V2 : middle child sad about the divorce. Had very little memories of their parents happy moments in the marriage but begins to feel sad for the oldest sibling V3 : oldest in denial. They have many fond memories of the happier days and know their parents weren't always like this. They become depressed and want to believe that its all a bad dream. But have to push their feeling away to be there for their siblings "Devil town's colder in the summer time" - their parents fought more during summer and the kids had to witness it several times. School help them distract themselves from their troublesome life at home.
