Thanks dude, you're a life saver. Had no idea how to get those two stupid screws out. Using the retaining screws was genius. Used a small pair of needle-nose vice-grips and used the screw like a socket. Took some playing around to get the top screw, but was finally able to get it. Thanks again!
Awesome! Ordered the part online (they are deeply discounted because old Cavaliers are not in huge demand any more!) cost about $15 for the part. Long needle nose pliers with a good grip helped too. Dont forget to disconnect the (-) battery! THANKS AGAIN!!!!
2005 Cavalier 2.2 l ohc . The ignition switch went and the key is stuck in the ignition, you cant get the floor shifter out of park. It did this about 3 months ago and had to have it towed to a dealer and replaced. Now it did it again. After taking off the plastic wheel covers how do I get the key out? And is there a transmission shift release button anywhere to get the tranny out of park? An upgraded video would be nice tho this one s good. I would appreciate any additional help.
have a 99 5 spd cavalier 2.2, when i push my clutch in, also in neutral, i turn my key over and nothing.. new starter, battery is fine, have been having to push jump it lately, im thinking neutral safety switch, but not completely sure. any ideas?
wow thanks man.. I managed to get the bottom screw out this way, but the upper screw doesn't have enough access =\ tried also with pliers for 2 hours ... couldn't get it. any trick ? :S
PHATBOY do u have a valet parking system installed on it. AKA a remote start? It could be something wrong with it. In my 97 Mitsubishi eclipse it had one of those in it, and it would start randomly without key in it. Like I came home turned car off, hour later or so not even, I hear someone playing same dam song I was when I got out of car, sure enough I open house door and my car is running. I was told it had something to do with my valet parking system or remote start or some shit. Idk if this helps but who knows. Good luck
Hi!, i have a problem, my cavalier is 98, it turns but it wont start the car, sometimes when i push it inside while turning the key works fine, sometimes works normally... any idea what could be?
Angela Martinez did I ever figure out what ur problem was with ur 96 cavalier? I have same issue. I have put new ecm, coil packs, ignition module, ignition switch, spark plugs, and crankshaft sensor in. The ecm was programmed to my vehicles VIN and I tried the relearn procedures but still nothing. I know it's been a few years but if u ever figured it out can u tell me please what your issue is? And thank.
