Dude will be WIDE the fuck open on the easiest three pointer in the game and will hit the side of the backboard. But let him have a 7'6 wingspan defender and a 7'3 wingspan defender contest his shot RIGHT in his face and that damn ball will fall through the net and not even TOUCH the rim. HAHAHA

Ball movement is overrated imo. At the end of the day it's about putting the ball in the basket. You criticized three of the final four teams' offences (TOR,CLE, OKC) for being stagnant but your favourite team's ball movement was shut down and the team whose stars performed ended up winning.
@zendo09

@TO-ph4kx

***** Before them it was Heat, Heat, Mavs, Lakers, Lakers, Celtics. Last year's Cavs team was also missing their second best shot creator. Ball movement is nice but if you have length and can switch everything you can counter it. Even the Spurs went away from it as Kawhi has evolved, and they required Aldridge.
@bballbreakdown

Sometimes it works out that way. Warriors can't complain with some of those shots they got in that stretch...
@ilovemusicfyi
@ilovemusicfyi 8 лет назад
This is ridiculous. Open shots are better than contested shots. Simple. The Warriors players, and party the coaching staff, choked. They were missing open shots. Cleveland was making contested shots. But in terms of actual, basketball trends, ball movement wins.

I think the Cavs did most of their damage when Ezeli and Varejão were on the court. Neither of them could effectively protect the paint. GSW should go after Whiteside. Draymond, Iggy, Klay as the perimeter defender while Whiteside and Bogut protect the paint. That sound pretty good to me.

Ball-movement is important. But a big reason for ball-movement is to manipulate matchups. If all it takes to manipulate matchups for CLE is to screen with Curry's man to force a switch onto LeBron and Kyrie, why shouldn't they do that?
@bballbreakdown
@bballbreakdown 8 лет назад
We saw the Cavs struggle even when they got the matchup they wanted because it was so stagnant..
@RondoStyle9
@RondoStyle9 8 лет назад
BBALLBREAKDOWN Okay? That's completely beside the point. In the long run, they ran that highscreen with Curry's man to get the matchup, as well as making him work hard on that end to wear him down. It clearly worked, as he was completely ineffective on the other end, and they won the series. Can you hear me shaking my head?
@TheAdidaskicks23

Ball movement also shifts the defense which prevents them from playing mistake free help defense.

@RondoStyle9
@RondoStyle9 8 лет назад
ZenMasterSwish He doesn't have to like the offense, just understand the purpose, and the reason why they run isolations. Throughout the playoffs, they have always looked to attack mismatches. In the Pistons series, Kevin Love had Marcus Morris, and Harris, and the Cavs force fed him the ball in the paint and played out of there when they sent double teams. In the ATL series, the Hawks blitzed Kyrie and LeBron, and because of this all the other Cavs were open, and they set a 3pt record for the series. Against GSW, the liability is Curry, and attacking him all game long, while not always resulting in scores limits his energy, and thus slows the Warriors transition attack. I just want BBALLBREAKDOWN to actually give LeBron and the Cavs some semblance of real credit for beating a great team. That's all.

Coach Nick. My Assessment. I think the tangible explanation here is simple. The Warriors are x's and o's, while Cleveland is ISO and star power. Needless to say GS defense is a well oiled MACHINE while Cleveland favors "get your man." However, that's just it. I think the reason the officiating was inconsistent is because they didn't understand the dynamic from game to game. One game it's streetball, the next it's orchestrated. While I can understand your frustration as a coach having to watch with cringe-worthy anxiety as Cleveland's players became spectators to a 1 on 1 duel, that is essentially the way they were brought up playing the game. It's why they LOVE it. It's not easy on the eyes, but it can create a passion that courses through your veins if you were given the same exposure to the game. That is a fundamental that cannot be taught. One that Draymond Green feeds from and allows him to excel in the moment. He is fortunate enough to play under the craftsmanship of Coach Kerr and excel in that offense, but that mentality is still prominent. Altgiugh it may have been displeasing from a schematics stand point, Cleveland Deserved this win and rightfully so. Forgive me for calling you biased. However, I too come from that cloth. It's not easy, but the desire to win will beat x's & o's on any day. Michael and Phil knew this as well. LeBron represents this cloth with dignity and deserves respect. That's all. -A Spectator

game 7's in the finals are hard to analyze...both teams are tired and scared especially in the second half....there is a reason teams dont get 100...its so intense ...every shot they waste clock over dribble and try not to make mistakes or foul.... we have now seen 6 since 1988 and every time both teams are nervous in the 4th....the only team that looked like they didnt give a crud what happened was miami in 2013....they went out shooting jumpers passing it around like normal thy just had half their roster not make any shots like bosh and ray allen who they relied on...they were the only confident offense I have seen in the 4th...every other team plays scared and tired cause all these games are close...remember how scared la and boston played in 2010 houston and new york in 94 what the hell was that?...warriors choked period didnt score for the final 4 minutes at home...in a 4 minute stretch where cleveland didnt score either ...damn! they stopped going to the rim period...too many jumpers nervous and klaya nd curry 31 lebron kyrie 53....thats all that needs to be said ...but green had 31 love only had 9 so it was 63 62 in terms of big 3's lol....finally cavs role players outscored the warriors role players in oakland by 5 ....

I give JR Smith HUGE CREDIT - At 46-54 I felt like the game was running away from Cleveland, I almost stopped watching thinking it was going to be a blowout as their offense was very stagnant. JR hit a jumper then back to back treys to bring them within 2 until Kyrie tied the game up. That was HUGE and he might have saved the season from those 2 shots alone.

I think if the Cavs weren’t try to force feed Lebron for the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter and let Mr 4th quarter do his thing the Cavs would of won by 8-10 points, instead of setting so many picks for Lebron they should have picked for Kyrie but finally did with a min left and he made Curry cry in his car and his house 😳

Coach Nick and Everyone Else, What did you think about the absence of Andrew Bogut. Would it have made a difference? GSW I felt was left with ultimately no rim protection against the Kyrie and LeBron drives to the basket.

I didn't know what happened to the Warriors. All of a sudden they just decided to switch off every pick and roll which was exactly what the Cavs wanted to exploit the Curry-Lebron matchup. Bad coaching by Kerr. Harrison Barnes was struggling. Why the hell is he making a most of the shots towards the end of game? They didn't even try to get Klay, Curry and the Draymond Green some shots. It was mostly Iguodala and Barnes chucking up one three after the other. At the end of the day, I am still not impressed with the Cavs offense. Mainly simple pick and rolls, isolations. Warriors simply gave up on defense.

Coach, could you make a video about what adjustments both teams made during the finals (if it's worth it)? Also, were you surprised how Lebron was barely attempting any jumpshot despite the defense repeatedly giving him enough room? I know it's not his strong suit and the pressure doesn't get any higher than in Game 7, but his jumper was working in G5 and 6.

No, it was J R Smith who made two great, fundamentally sound b plays without bailing out either player with a foul. First, he played between Curry and Iggy, then he slid over to stop Steph, forcing the pass; then he slid over to Iggy and went up without fouling, forcing Iggy to double clutch the shot, precious seconds that allowed a streaking LeBron to get in the picture. There is a great gift of this on yahoo. What is remarkable and spectacular is that J R did not simply try to stand there and flop trying to get an offensive foul. Now, I know Harden gets murdered by the fans for doing this, but had Iggy simply ducked under J R's arm, he goes to the line, but, then again, maybe Iggy didn't want to go to the line in a tie game in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

@bigstudwithaguitar
@bigstudwithaguitar 8 лет назад
The refs and the league worked in unison to ensure that the Cavs win. It's been obvious since Draymond Green was retroactively given a technical foul by the league when the refs on site ruled it as a common foul. Game 7 though... only 1 freethrow between Curry and Thompson? That's is about 1/9 the usual rate (considering that between the two of them, they made 36 fg attempts). Only 13 ft for GS... to the Cav's 25? 23 fouls on Golden State to the Cavs 15 (even though the Cavs foul more on average, not only in general, but also in matchups against GS). The refs were calling fouls on GS, and they were all fruitful. They either ended in freethrows, or took away rebounds from GS. Game 7 was SUPER rigged... and rigged well too. Nobody seems to think it was because the game was close throughout... but it was a crime against basketball.

Rishi Goyal You have a point to make? I'm not even a GS fan. I just know a rigged game when I see them... and from game 5 on... RIGGED AS FUCK! Let me ask you this... I know you know that rigging a game is possible... Just think about it... what is it you think a rigged game looks like? What do you think rigged game evidence looks like? What do you think rigged game motive looks like? What do you think rigged game officiating looks like? I'm sure if you actually thought about it, you would see that there's no difference. This appears in every regard to be a prototypical rigged series. YOU are choosing to ignore the semblance for personal reasons.

Lol at these haters bandwagoning to Cavs. Enjoy those losers. It's the same ones that think Cavs have 3 rings. Warriors are still young and they blew this series. Curry played like trash along with Klay. But they still have a future and if they can get someone to play SF the way they intended, they are still contenders. Although no matter what they do at this point, this will always haunt them. Losing a 3-1 series with 73 wins is gonna sting. A 3peat probably won't heal that. Still can't believe the Cavs have a title.

@Tonio5100 8 лет назад
That wasn't his original statement..... His original statement was about PGs that change direction quick & can stop on a dime...... Most PGs have that ability Kyrie can just do it at a extremely elite level
@garrisoup2841
@garrisoup2841 8 лет назад
When I mentioned PGs who could move quickly and stop on a dime, I was only referring to those who could do it near Kyrie's level. Sure you have point guards like John Wall and Russell Westbrook who are lightning fast, but at times they are out of control. Their ability to stop on a dime is not as smooth as Kyrie. This allows time for the defender to react.
