I love your videos. You're a popular and influential RU-vidr, and that's why you're getting special treatment. When I saw the sunscreen video, all I could think of was what a product would look like if it was made 40 years ago and had been living under the seat in someone's car since then.

i think you actually asking them for a replacement bottle of the first product or buying a second one and testing it out would have been better. Without the retest, to see if this is batch issue I feel like this video was useless.

Honey, if they really tried, at least tried to get it better, it should be visible in the ingredients list. So, if you are trying to jump in this dumpster fire again, keep the package or the ingredient list and check it out for changes. Because with complains like these, this is not a keeping of a product issue, but purely formulation one.

@@nishhx_x she’s a beauty influencer and a esthetician doesn’t mean she’s not susceptible to falling for the oldest tricks in the book there is a reason it’s a cliché after all. I really wish Cassandra would broaden her Horizons a little bit in regards to the darker side of human interaction socially because this is pretty obvious, but I guess to her she doesn’t consider herself very famous? Let me just say that good service reps and PR people always say what was in that email ‘so sorry for your experience, reaching out to the manufacturer to see what went wrong’ blah blah blah and then nothing ever actually happens because these things get bogged down in bureaucracy I’m not angry but I’m disappointed that in her eagerness to please people Cassandra is missing the fact it’s practically lip service that everyone receives. OR I’m just super jaded and suspicious of anyone anymore/need to work on my trust issues lol

It was not a formulation issue. It's great PR. Honestly convinced that those "positive reviews" were not. Whenever I'm trying something new I focus on the negative reviews more than the positive because it more reliable.

This is the most basic customer service email. Any business providing good customer support would respond exactly like this, and without you being a well known figure. I email like this to customers at my job. This is not exciting, this should be expected.

Really disappointed that you've totally changed your perception of the brand just because they responded to you the same way any other company would respond to a public figure with a 1.8M audience. If your opinion of the product hasn't changed since your first review then please don't mislead your viewers by now calling Cay Skin "SO GOOD". When I saw the title of this video, I genuinely thought that they'd reached out, told you it was a formulation issue, sent you new products, you'd tested them and you were blown away. But no, your perception change was based solely on them doing the bare minimum by promising to look into the issue and giving you a refund. This isn't an honest review.

Right I thought it was going to be a complete 180 maybe she just got a bad batch or something and it turns out the sunscreen is actually bomb! But no they just... Realized she was an influencer and offered her a refund? They posted on their IG that they were having formulation issues? I get that so many companies out here today have zero integrity... but it doesn't mean we need to give a pat on the back to cay skin for doing the bare minimum when their product flopped.

I think this response is very naive and disappointing - you’re an influencer so of course you got that reply because their PR team would’ve freaked out after seeing your first video… most people do not get this treatment. I trust you a lot for recommendations but it doesn’t sit right with me that you’re saying this brand is now ‘SO GOOD’ after you got a nice apology email from the Cay Skin team

The thing is after her last video I’m sure they saw it so 💯 I think they now know who she is in s but disappointed as I had pretty terrible customer service from them my email didn’t get answered for 2 weeks and I had to haggle for a refund when my bottle came broken open in the mail and my replacement bottle was gross

I'm cynical and think that great customer service is just lip service and PR. It's much better for a company reputation to just "admit problems", tell people they're looking into it and refund. Especially for a brand that is just starting. Had they done anything other the company would have been done, period. I don't believe any company is looking into it unless I see actual evidence of that. Also if they believe there's issue (like there is) they would have already issued a statement of sort on their website and re-sellers about that separation thing and ask people to contact them. Now it's a bit odd marketing ploy on social media.

Sorry, but a good costume service is the minimum a company should provide for the people that bought their products. And I strongly dislike the approach of this video, because Cassandra is happy with a company that is doing their minimum job which is provide a good costume service. this is a clear PR move from a company that nows that they need to make damage control over the image of the company, for people don't lose their credibility in the brand. But, this is MY personal opinion.

Sorry but once bitten twice shy!! I am NEVER EVER buying this again ... EVER. I ended up putting prescription cortisone on my frickin face and neck .. it took over 2 weeks to get my skin to anywhere near normal!!! it was horrific .. am going to stick with my Paula's Choice SPF, I know it works and it doesn't burn/hurt/damage my skin - plus you can wear it under foundation if you leave it sink in first. Proceed with caution peoples!!!

@@TheBrainsugarfreeze I use the Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid Broad Spectrum SPF 50 .. it is on the more expensive side, but to be honest I have bought so many SPFs and wasted so much money (The Hello Sunday SPF primer is a frickin disaster .. your foundation literally sticks to it like glue) .. that this one is my one-and-only go to, but you need to leave it soak in for 30mins or so b4 applying foundation!! Hope this helps/Hope it works for you!!! x

I'm confused here. They know you are big on social media and sent you the email and the refund on the "Public" email that they found somewhere. But what was their response on the initial email you had contacted them with? Did they have the same response to the email which does not reveal your true identity. That is what decides whether they are actually good or just trying to make an impression on you.

I am very confused. This is only the 2nd video I have watched on this channel (the Cay review was the 1st one). I find it incredible that an influencer of this caliber seems so naive when it comes to customer service. The other commenters are correct - this is standard PR damage control. Is the bar so low for companies that these boiler plate responses are considered amazing? Cassandra, I like you and your energy but I am so puzzled I'm not sure I will watch more of your videos.

Not sure if she mentioned it in this specific video, but she used an anonymous email address so that they wouldn't know who she was so that she WOULDN'T get preferential treatment when she first contacted their customer service over the first product she tried. And they gave her a full refund, didn't ask for the product back, even asked what the problem was and what her skin tone is so they can give that info to the development team. Clearly they saw her video and took it upon themselves to refund her for the other 2 items, and I can agree that they probably emailed her knowing she would make a video about it. Still, idk about you, but I haven't ever seen or experienced other skin care or makeup companies responding like that to a seemingly regular person. Plus they're taking accountability, which seems super rare. So of course she's thrilled, but she still hates the products that she tried.

Glad she had a good experience with the customer service but that email is....average though? And considering they responded to Cassandra due to her video not her compliant under an alias you have to wonder if they were just being cordial because Cassandra is Cassandra rather then actually valuing giving customers a good service. I'd never know but a healthy dose of skepticism never hurts anyone.

I work for Sephora. Cay did a voluntary recall on that sku due to the yellow tint it was leaving. Only "operations" leadership (the person who handles all of the behind the scenes stuff that goes on) would process any recalls, so that's why some of those Beauty Advisors didn't know.

Great! Honestly the "no sending back" part is kinda sus to me... Wouldn't they want to analyse that product? Or do they have already returns from that batch? Even with that great customer service, I think that if they are confident in their other batches, they would offer a switch, not a complete refund. Like if you get a broken tv, most companies will just replace it with another working one, not just give you back the money and encourage you to go somewhere else and lose you as a customer. Sounds like they're just getting rid of a wildfire, 'cause they didn't think it would escalate that much and affect the model's reputation so much.

As a chemist, it really sounds to me that they might have used a bad batch of substances that were use to emulsify and/or maintain the texture stable. Altought it is possible it's a formulation error, I think if it was more people would have problems with it. A bad formula wouldn't work for some people and not for the others, that's why I'm betting in some bad ingredients that might be causing instability. Anyway, I'm really curious to know what happened to cause this.

Ty for your insight! I'm just wondering how rushed the production would've been since it seems like they didn't test enough batches for stability w shipping/time/weather conditions/etc. If an emulsion wasn't stable in the first place then it wouldn't take much to break either.

This video is a bit off to me because it feels like you're trying to pump them up after they hunted you down after seeing your video as bad PR. The product is clearly terrible. You demonstrate it is still bad. The reviews that don't look faked or paid for are all bad. What you're seeing is the customer service given to try and fix a PR nightmare. It isn't honest. And their response to your video reads as a desperate attempt to cover their asses. I'm studying business management and marketing and I guess that is making me a bit more sensitive to this. It doesn't look like they cleaned it up. It looks like they're panicking lol

So I've been in CSR for 8 years, marketing in 4....this isn't anything extraordinary. Maybe the refunds since that's always been a last move for most companies. But what i'm hearing is all SOP. It's actually pretty basic crisis management. But what's good is that they made a response. That at least shows recognition and accountability. Also, reviews can be seeded. They can have their employees give the good reviews since it'll probably not be verified or whatever.

I worked as a customer service rep in a shitty company before as a supervisor. We usually search the full names of the customer online, try to find them on social media, and verify their info if possible via city on the address put on or the email address used. If they pop up and have a lot of following, we usually process a full refund and send a gift card as well. But if they're not, then we just keep on saying that it's on the terms and conditions. I stopped working there, stressed me out sooooo much with how shitty the management was.

Yep, that's some good customer service. Good for them As to why the body oil breaks you out, I would guess it's the fragrance that's in it in the form of several fragrant oils. And probably also that it's an oil which is just too heavy for your skin. It would probably be great on my dry skin; I'd try it if it was fragrance free and didn't have alcohol in it.

It's funny to me that they created a mineral sunscreen, put it on shelves, even sent it out to Sephora employees as gratis -- and never realized before that moment it was tinting people's skin an unreasonable shade of yellow? My foundation looked YELLOW the day I wore it. It was awful. So yeah, it was removed from sale. And that lack of... knowing that happens before they sold it... is very questionable to me. The glow one works for me though, I haven't had any issues with it, although it's just not my fave. But how can I be confident buying from a brand that isn't properly testing their products first? Sunscreens are hard to formulate and take ages to test before being sold, It's so weird to me that they'd sell one and have to remove it not even 2 weeks later because of very glaring issues.

The fact that they refunded her when they thought she was just a regular customer is a good thing. She's just excited that the company is giving other people refunds and looking into the formulas. Ex-Sephora Employee here! Wish I had stumbled along this video a lot sooner, as you probably have already received more information on the whole situation, but the mineral sunscreen was pulled because it dried to a lime green-yellow on the skin. I originally loved the feel of the sunscreen, but about an hour into wear, I noticed a bright neon yellow ring clinging to my hairline and eyebrows. I also have a sneaky suspicion that the glowy spf separates as it sits and that consumers who got part of the “bad batch” just received older products. I love-love-loved mine for the first month or two of use, then noticed the same separation issue.

I love how genuine and knowledgeable you are with your reviews and breakdowns. But with this whole Cay Skin marathon, I’m surprised you’re so ‘bamboozled’ at how their customer service addressed this for you. To believe it’s a bad batch….every time…is also a little strange. I think Cay Skin tried it, as in they put together something and threw it against the wall for purchase and whatever literally stayed together/sticked…sticked, lol. I’m not sold on the brand, but I’m also glad people with darker skin tried it to see what time it is…and the time is always wrong for these guys. I was ready to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe some products were formulated to compliment darker skins (if that is possible).More companies need to train and employ more customer service/marketing reps similar to Cay Skin.

Haven't used it myself, but I've had several patients (I'm a dermatologist) contact me after having allergic reactions. Another patient I was chatting with in person said she tried using it as a regular sunscreen and wound up fried. This is always my least favorite part of influencers and celebrities dropping skincare lines... I feel like a solid 8 out of 10 times, I wind up having to play fixit after people start calling or coming in with "new" skin problems that are usually traced back to them using some cash grab celeb/influencer makeup or skincare. You can like a celebrity or admire packaging without actually putting their garbage on your face and body!

I think this is my first RU-vid comment ever. But I bought the CaySkin SPF 45 very hesitantly…the girl at Sephora took me right to it and I told her I heard the product wasn’t good from an aesthetician I watch on RU-vid. She said she actually watched too and was surprised to hear that because all of the makeup professions at Sephora LOVE it. I bought it expecting to just return it since I know Sephora has a great return policy, but I actually do love the product. Mine looks nothing like yours when you pump it out. I shake it for a few seconds and it glides on so smooth and pillowy. I hope they send you a new, better batch so you can hopefully get the product I received. I love your videos! I watch them every morning while in the shower. Thank you for doing what you do!

Hmmm....wondering if some of the good reviews are bc people aren't applying the correct amount of product. If you use this like a primer, it probably does make you look glowy and nice. But it's not a primer, it's a sunscreen. Use it like a primer and you aren't protected from the sun. The rest of the good reviews are probably fakes. We'll see where this takes us from here. I am slowly losing faith in you. Let me tell you why… first, you made a whole ass long video and gave this horrible formula chance after chance. It was already fishy to me. As a former retail employee - not totally fair to assume that various employees at various stores would know what's going on. Upper management is not always able to inform every single employee. Should they? Yes, totally, but it's just not always feasible. Retail work is literally HELL. I feel for those employees because they're often left in the dark about what's going on and are usually scrambling to make customers happy and avoid complaints.
