+SuperMotoGuy99 I only did about a hundred miles on it so I'm not sure; my 650 was in for a service so Honda leant me the cb500 for the day so I thought I'd have a blast (;
That new improved stock exhaust on it sounds great! Much improved compared to previous years. Thanks for sharing this, I love the new 2016 lines and am waiting to pick one up when a deal comes along.
It does sound quite good doesn't it! I like the look of the 2016 models they look sharper and more appealing, a mate of mines just in the process of getting a cbr500r which are very nice as well.
Yes! 2016 models are a huge step up in looks and upgrades over the previous gen of 2013-2015. Sad the 500x model didn't exactly get as much love though.
+SuperLaplander a word, i had the 500.x. i was always at the gears at lower speed on smaller roads, comming into a corner id have to change down not 1 or 2 but somtimes 3 gears to keep it in the power band witch is above 4,000,
awesome video! finally a video that shows the actual performance of the bike! what gear were you in at 1:46 when you did that power wheelie? what do you think of the bike overall?
Thanks!! I was in first gear, it can power wheelie easily in first but it won't in second although I'm sure you could use the clutch and get it up in second easily, the bike was a lot of fun it felt really light and easy to ride with enough power and looks pretty good!
Cbr650f Rider thanks for the answer! which one do you think is better: mt07 or cb 500 f? the price is about the same (considering the mt without abs), the mt has more power, but it lacks in suspension quality compared to the 500....
+Multi3dmaster I'd go for the more power, if I had an mt07 here in the uk it would have to be restricted to 47bhp for my age and still it is quite a bit quicker than the cb500f so I'd go for the mt07 although I prefer the look of the cb500f
I thought this bike would have been a lot quicker on take off than the Mt 03, which does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and also topped out at 195km/h. Both are my 2 choices of bikes
Martin Stevens on my new video of the cb500f in which I did some more 0-60s I actually got it down to 5.17 seconds which is a massive improvement! It'll do about 185 at a push but it can hold 177
Martin Stevens I've never ridden the Yamaha mt03 but personally I think the cb500f looks a lot better and I'd rather have a better 0-60 than a couple of mph top speed extra
@Martin Stevens, a stock Mt 03 doesnt make 195km/h on a straight.. more like 180Km/h.. both have the same ammount of horses (and since 2016 the Mt-03 has only 321ccm and 42hp)..
I'm pretty sure this will be my first bike. I like the size of it and the engine. The sound is a little meh. But I know I'd kill myself with a GRX600. So this will do!
Hahahaha I really don't know why it turned out so shaky, I used the RU-vid stabilise video option thing but then it fucked up all the text so I just had to leave it as it was
I know this videos over a year old, but hopefully you'll see this comment... I noticed the sticker saying northwest Honda... Is that by any chance what used to be known as 'Lancaster Honda'? If so, and you're local to there, we aren't too far apart! I was looking at CB650Fs in there a few weeks back for if/when I do my test.
God damn tell me why your video is like the only thing even close to a review I've seen of the 500f where somebody actually got on the bike and rode it. I couldn't find a single review where people actually rode the bike and talked about it while on it
Hey nice vid, was just wondering is this is a good solid 500c bike or is there another 500cc bike that compares to it that would be better/you prefer more. Thanks.
MrTbagginTurtle this is a great 500cc bike but I prefer the cbr500r just because I'm not the biggest lover of naked bikes but the two are practically identical apart from the fairings. This bike is a lot of fun though!
MrTbagginTurtle I went from a Yamaha ybr125 to my 47bhp cbr650f and that felt quick! trust me the cb500f will feel like a rocket ship to you! Can't go wrong with the Honda 500cc line, enjoy!!
Christoper Greene do not get the cb300 they're the most pointless bike on the market the Honda 300 range, go for the cb500/cbr500 you will have so much more fun on the 500cc! The cb300 and cbr300 are the least powerful 300cc out there and they look boring as hell.
Christoper Greene you will become bored of the 300cc quite easily whereas the 500cc, although it still isn't close to 1000cc power, will entertain for a lot longer
It's a really nice bike especially in that yellow, but why get one of these over a z400..which is lighter with the same hp? That said, the Honda is probably more comfy and does look good.
I was considering this bike to be my first bike. Is this a good beginner bike? I was also looking into the cb300f but that seems to be too small. Will this bike become slow for a rider once they ride it a bunch? I want something that will last.
Scott Nizolak yes this is an awesome bike for a beginner and do not what ever you do buy the Honda cb300 or cbr300 as they are awful compared to the r3, ninja 300 etc, it has enough power for a lot of fun I can tell you that now! I went round on the back wheel most of the time because it's so easy to handle and can wheelie so easily! It has enough power but you will get the odd occasion with bigger bikes where you wished you had more power to keep up in straight lines but other than that the power is adequate.
Scott Nizolak seeing as you are new to riding, this bike will feel enough power for you for a long time but there will come a day when you want more, I'd definitely recommend you get the cb500f for your first bike!
Cbr650f Rider I just brought this exact bike in exactly the same colour! It's my first bike and it's a perfect starter bike like you say. plus you get the Honda reliability! Any considering one of these as their first should look no further 😉
I'd go with the cb500f for your first bike, fz07 has a lot more power which isn't ideal for you being a new rider plus the cb500f still is really fun and has adequate power!
Do it! Fz07 is hella fun and looks good. Plus you wont upgrade for a while because you will be happy with that you purchased. But if you have to ask someone if its to much bike for you, it just might. Confidence is key buddy!
How did you decide? :) I made my final exam 9 years ago on a cb500 and I bough a Hornet as my first bike, 98 horse power. I was ok with it, but was too heavy and strong, learning was slow. Then I switched back to cb400sf and I loved it, smoothly learned on it. I advice to everybody to choose smaller for the first time.
Q Speed Racer The CB500f is basically restricted that's why. Which is a good thing to protect the engine from premature failure if driven hard all the time.
Cbr650f Rider 100mph is fantastic! It's what I do on the way to Globus (supermarket). Now on the autobahn with no traffic, I'd like a little more speed but not too much :D
Test rode it, super smooth engine - good torque for its size. Compact bike, light handling and dead easy to ride. Only real dislike - bars too low, prefer neutral riding position.
Agreed, I rid it today as part of a riding Assessment before I go for my A2 License. Wow! What a lovely bike. I've never ridden a bigger bike before so I have no idea about power or comfort or anything like that, but compared to my 125, it's a whole world better. Silky smooth to ride. The only thing I can't say about is the bars, I have clip ons on my 125 which makes the bar position on the 500F much better as it more or less IS a neutral riding position for me haha.
2:20 My like only for that guy without leg, who riding on cruiser. He is the hero. Your camera location is very bad. Buy please helmet mount, because this video don't show nothing- no speed and no any view - only gas tank. My like just for cruiser legless rider. My respect him!
