Ah. There's nothing like that feeling of finally being on the road. That cow was a Jersey? LMAO! Wow! That looks like such a stunning ride through Capertree Valley. I remember seeing Kev's video from there last time. Geezus! Can I not watch a video without hearing someone hang shit on me! HaHa! Sofala is definitely on my list of places to visit. I've heard of it a lot over the years and seen photos and even rode straight past it without stopping on my way to Bathurst on my 2013 trip, but this is the most video I've seen of it. Great bit of history! Another awesome day of riding and another great video mate!

Capertee was just as Jaw-Dropping as the end of Barrington Tops had been the day before! Did I hang shit on you again? Gee, sorry, it's just a habit now haha! Yet another hell of a day, mate! cheers :)

Mate should have swapped the compass for the roo whistle. Kev could have used it. 😆 I was at Sofala I should have waited a bit for you guys. Sofala and surrounding area is my favourite places. Must say those roo whistles made that cow jump. Funny as.🤣😂

Hey Mark! I was just wondering how you were going the other day, glad to hear of your positive progress, that's awesome mate! Yeah I re-worked and re built the whole back-pack camera rig and am very pleased with the results. This trip was a joy mate, hope you enjoy watching it. Can't believe you got 2 thumbs down on a video like this bro, great footage, and thank god for that bash plate eh! I bet everything was covered in that fine dust at the end there, must be hard to breath in all that, great video again bro, RS.

LOL - I seem to have annoyed some people who regularly turn up just to thumbs down... I'm actually almost upset as they haven't turned up on the latest and it's been up 2 days, haha! Falkor got SO covered in dust, and I only cleaned the chain for the whole trip so he ended up a very dirty boy ;-) A couple of episodes later I lose my shit at the dust actually, lol. Thanks bud, all the best to you.

Thanks Adrian! I'm trying to work on the videos all the time and actually decide what the end result should be - like you say, tell a story, and also I know a lot of people watch out of interest in the X and try to show enough of how it rides, then there's the people who just like Aussie scenery - well that bit has proven pretty easy on this trip :)

Tons of great stuff here. Man, that valley is vast! Great campsite too. Three degrees of separation. A precise 'fallout' calculation borne of bitter experience! Can't not comment on that great slide guitar part in the soundtrack. Sounds like it was played through an exploding (or imploding, not sure which) cranked old 1950's Tweed Fender Champ 5 watt, beat up and rescued from a swamp. Perfect.

Great vid Captain. It was a great day indeed. Despite a good wash, I am still finding dust on the bike from the ride into that campground. Maybe the reason Kev only discovered I was riding a Honda - it was covered in so much dust and bugs! haha...

That was an awesomely picturesque ride mate. I’m always amazed when you see a really small town and have to wonder what they do for a living out there. Amazing ride mate. And of course, you have dead kangaroos on the road like we have deer.
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger 5 лет назад
Yeah all the little towns like that are really struggling here now - there's some hope for them with tourism but they have to have a hook to get people there. Yes, dead Kangaroos, Wallabies and those poor big Wombats as well :( RSM8.

Great edit, You captured the day well. It was a great day and I'm glad we didn't get lost :) Just a slight hesitation deciding on which road to take. Glen Davis area is awesome love the mountain formations. Sofala needs to drop the price of their burgers. After we set up camp and I discover Tony rides a Honda....hahahaha! RSM8
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger 5 лет назад
It was bloody amazing, in spite of your.... hesitation, haha!! Yes, rather pricey those burgers... I think they know they have a captive market "go somewhere else then"... nearest place is probably an hour away at least. I must go back there one day and see the caves! RSM8.

The old town looked great, but those flying locusts not so. What have you learned from this trip that you wouldn't do in the next? Have you ever considered riding around New Zealand? I would assume you would have to rent a bike. Got my bike back today and returned the rental, somehow felt quite deflated riding it, don't know why.
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger 5 лет назад
Probably almost nothing to improve as I spent so much time planning and thinking about this one - perhaps just a little more research into camping opportunities as I was disappointed to have 3 of my 4 camping nights not happen (one because of a cyclone, one because of bush fires and one because google maps almost made me ride over a cliff and it seemed to be the only way to the site). Going anywhere from Australia, even "just" to NZ, is a big deal and the costs are prohibitive. Trips like that are more likely to be done with wifey and in a car, as she's not up to or keen on long moto trips. I guess you quite enjoyed the scrambler :)
@irishrover63
@irishrover63 5 лет назад
My wife won't go near a bike, hence the reason why I make solo trips. Been thinking on a tour around NZ for some time. I did enjoy the Scrambler and would buy one if they were cheaper, but I don't like the tank range. I'll catch up with the rest of the story soon. 👍
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger
@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger 5 лет назад
I think that's the real secret behind the CB's success, yes there are better bikes out there, but they're no way worth 2 or 3 times the price of the CB.

Ohhhh I really should have ridden the first part of that day with you instead of heading home. Shit. I've been wanting to go to that abandoned shale oil works for a while and keep looking at it on Google Maps. Solid day-trip for me from home and back again. Can you get to the buildings and abandoned stuff or are they fenced off and only accessible via a tour?? Incredible views out there. I also want to visit Sofala and photograph the old buildings. So many adventures planned LOL. I stopped at the same lookout on my way home from Rylstone except I did it in the early morning fog :-) Excellent vid as always Captain. Rsm8.

@CaptainCrankyMotovlogger 5 лет назад
Yeah, I guess it would have been an opportunity! It's only open on Saturdays for the tours and locked otherwise, there is camping nearby though I'm pretty sure. Sofala looked amazing, I'm sure the early views from the lookout were great too! Many thanks, RSM8.
