Awesome job man. I have a 1978 CB750k I'm doing a restomod, and ar cb750 DOHC I did into a scrambler, and I'm thinking of getting a third to do a chopper haha, they are awesome bikes. I'm really fascinated about the magneto(?) setup. Is is kick-only, no battery? Did it come in a kit somewhere online, or is there an element of fabrication?
Its an ARD magneto which is just a bolt on affair if you want to read more about R.C. did sell a kit with the mag. clingonforlife.blogspot.com/2012/05/rcengineering-honda-750-magneto.html Yes my bike is kick only since it has no charging system on the end of the crank. But you don't need to do that to run a magneto. Honestly there isn't a reason to run a magneto unless you just think its cool and are okay with spending 2k plus on a complete unit.
three of us went to RC, Russ Collin's shop and Byron Hines at that time was a mech and Terry vance was his other team rider. We has 750s 100over 833 with webers (RC made the intake manifolds) and ARD mags...the bikes were rockets...girder front ends and hard tales...would be curious as to where you found that as they were pretty unique back then... They were all registered as custom built in CA in 1973...night have been 74...I'm getting old but I have always wondered where they ended up...I sold mine inb Miami, Dale sold his in CA and David was living in New Mexico
If you are asking about the frame, it was custom made frame by Matt Hurtado at Workingmancustoms. The front end I believe was purchased on Ebay. We have not been able to determine the maker. As far as the motor goes, it is a k motor assembled from several motors. The ARD was purchased on eBay and it was missing a cap. The RC manifold I believe was a copy as it was apparently cast in two pieces and welded in the middle. The welding caused it bow inwards so I had to cut it in half to get it to work.
Yes I am not using the electric start since I don't run a charging system on this bike. DC0E 40s are a good size for a 836cc plus motor and they were a common upgrade back in the day.
@@stevenpleasant5834 I didn't actually make the manifold. Its actually a copy of a Russ Collins manifold that someone cast back in the day. It got modified since when they welded it in the middle it warped.
Hah well I had to learn some things about the motor! Lots of weird stuff since it has the mag and weber carbs. Not points and the regular honda carbs. But now it starts in a single kick most of the time.
