It's alive! NorthernMI_VHSHub is back, with more commercials and goodies coming your way! Okay, maybe a little too much enthusiasm there. But I think you get the idea. :)

Do you have the Channel 9 signoff from the late 80's that shows the Windsor nightlife? (That signoff ended with a shot of the Ambassador Bridge all lit up and coming into focus before going into "O Canada.") For some strange reason, I always thought it sounded funny on that signoff when the announcer said, "And now we bid you a pleasant good night." When the signoff I described was shown, I was temporarily living at home (or, more to the point, a "shack" in the boonies) with my family in Goodrich, Michigan while trying to get my career started. The previous year, in June 1986, I had graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey with a Bachelor of Scince degree in Business. Goodrich is located between Detroit and Flint, so we could pick up Channel 9 very well with a rotary antenna on the roof.

That is sooooooo close to the original CBET TV sign Off! still in search for it , where they did the BTS at the station,and had the empty coffee pot ,and the chyron operator typing the letters G-O-O-D N-I-G-H-T showing on the tv screen along with larry o brien announcing

CKWS TV in Kingston had that exact same Starlight Movie Banter like the one I'm seeing from the video out of CBET in Windsor right now

Nice! I like that they customized their sign-ons/sign-offs with local footage (Point Pelee maybe)?

Christopher Bubb you know CBC stations also used customized there own test pattern also like CBC in Windsor did with theres CBET-9?

@@hollypietrzak5214 They all seem to have their own flavors. CBET used this type until the early 2000's when it switched over to one similar to CBLT's own color bar pattern with "CBC Windsor" captioned in the middle.

Any idea what movie was ending at the beginning of this? I love channel 9. I remember catching the sign ons more than the sign offs though.

I recall their sign-on in the late 80's featured guards hoisting the Canadian flag up a pole.

@@pernelldh Thanks! I recall at that time they signed on right around 9AM so they didn't have much of a morning presence til then and the first program was an exercise show before going to the children's stuff until noon.

@@northernmi_vhshub Seems appropriate since Yvonne de Carlo was born in Canada.

How come it went white at 3:11 anyway?
@northernmi_vhshub
@northernmi_vhshub 5 лет назад
That's when the station cuts the carrier (basically when they shut the transmitter tower off for the night). WWTV (our CBS affiliate in Northern MI, also channel 9) would come in with a very staticy signal afterwards (if they didn't sign off before CBET).

NorthernMI_VHSHub why would they put CBET 9 on the test pattern anyway?

@@northernmi_vhshub This was pretty standard back then. One night I caught one of these moments and CFTO from Toronto came through!
