IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT CBR WILL ONLY BE GOING UP TO OCT.17TH AND NOT NOVEMBER FOR A 7TH RACE. THE OCTOBER RACE WILL BE FOR DOUBLE THE POINTS IN THEIR SERIES.
Welcome back folks!
I'm going to keep this description short since I do talk quite a bit in the video, lol.
1:35 - Crash in first turn.
4:25 - Rider in front takes out phone.
7:52 -Semi on course.
8:51 - Bottle ejects into the back
11:30 - Pace falls off for me
17:25- Group catches us (lapped)
18:16 - Downed rider on tight corner (last lap)
18:42 - Finish line (last comments)
CAT 5 Racing = Sketchy. Real sketchy.
I only had one plan going in to this one and that was: finish with the group (if you can), and keep your tires down and don't eat pavement, lol. So I'd say I managed to almost complete both, except I did get dropped with like 5 to go. I fatigued far too early in the race (even with a warm-up). It could be down to my bike being a bit too large (actually it's about two sizes too big for me, but I barely manage it). Overall though, I set out to finish and in the moment I wanted to quit I just hanged in there.
To some this may not be a victory, but I'm taking it as a small small victory, and that's just a good step in the right direction.
In the end, I hope the commentary helps you guys understand my mindset and you guys see what it's actually like being in the back of the fast group. It's a MESS, lol.
COMMENT/SUB/HIT THAT THUMBS UP!
See you guys at the next one!

This whole race felt a lot sketchier than usual -- it did feel a bit more controlled towards the front though. Oh, and if you're unhappy with your bike fit, you can do a lot of good with an allen wrench and some experimentation. It took me a month or so to find a position that worked for me. Good commentary!

I believe you that the front was more controlled. Watched your video and it looked like Mai Tai’s and Palm Trees compared to the back, lol. I’ve actually managed to get my bike within that limit of “uncomfortable, but still useable for a certain time limit”. It’s roughly two sizes too big, only so much you can do with that ya know? Currently working on it though! 🤟🏻I appreciate the comment and really good work out there! You guys did great! See y’all at the next one if you guys go!

ha i was the dude in the grey kit. i was actually at a loss for words when i saw that guy starting up strava while we approached a corner. and later in the race when we got dropped, i remember seeing you ride by but you accelerated too quickly and we were kind of dying by that point. the guy in blue was strong, but i dont think he understood group riding much. i told him ill pull for a bit and he thought i wanted him off my wheel 😂 then when i flicked my elbow, he didnt do anything until i started to slow down and he just went around me. so i dont think he understood your message haha. i would say next time check your shoulder sooner to make sure people caught on to your wheel! if youre at the oct 10 race, see you there!

Lol 😂 thank you for confirming that phone situation. I was 50/50 on that. Glad he didn’t clip your wheel or anyone else’s. You’re absolutely right about the guy in blue. He seemed strong and determined and I noticed you right behind him and you guys were working along with the Folgore kit, so I figured I’d lead it out for a bit to give everyone a break, but I didn’t realize he didn’t really know my hand signal and I looked back a bit too late, that was my fault, lol. I’ll remember for next time to be a bit more vocal to avoid confusion and to avoid leaving anyone behind (because I was dying in the front before the second turn, lol). Good work out there! I’ll most likely be at the next CBR! 🤟🏻
