This video features a counseling role-play in which cognitive-behavioral therapy is used to treat test anxiety and panic symptoms. The downward arrow technique is used to identify intermediate and core beliefs.
Thank you for this. I wish CBT techniques were more well known. I did my own self-assessment and was shocked about my unconscious core beliefs and how they influence every moment of my life.. thoughts, feelings/mood and actions/behavior. This really helped and it took me years to find because of the psychology and mental health stigma in western culture. It helped me identify areas I can take action/behavior to fix and break the cycle. I'm extremely grateful.
This technique is interesting and seems to be an effective use. I hadn't heard of the downward arrow technique previously, though I now know that counselors have used it with me. Both the automatic thought and coexisting behavior is identified with CBT. I like the use of the Exception Question here in light discussing the worsening anxiety and/or snowball effect. The explanation of the difference of the automatic thought and core belief is helpful particularly because the client learns how to respond with a counter thought as well as noting existing evidence both that supports and refutes the cognitive distortion. The thing that I like most is defining the goal to change the response to anxiety rather than the situation itself, which in this case is unnecessary.
@@DrGrande Im from Saudi Arabia doctor. Im understanding you until you say adopt a response. I was that man now i even can't say hi and set with my friends. Those thoughts kill me .my heart will jump out of fear. I want to run. Or go as early to be the first not to come late and face any gatherings. The problem is remembering how good i was. But it grows inside my mind until I get to this point
Dr. Grande i love your videos, i recently came on to watch your others on apology videos, and on famous serial killers which lead me to these videos which are also really interesting, i was wondering if you could do some more of these every now and again?
YES! I started on these older counselling videos and they are so well done that I subscribed. I always appreciate Dr. Grande's pov and wit but really don't care about self absorbed Instagram drama.
This is so good, Dr, Grande! Very helpful ! Please do more ! You can even play a character and do it with yourself (if it’s necessary bc if the pandemic for your safety) ! 🌼
Hello Dr Grande, I'm curious if you did any videos regarding self-conscious thoughts about physical appearance in social situations.Maybe something about body dysphoria? Thank you.
