Thank you so much for this video I'm a new city carrier and I swear my first day I was ready to quit because of this casing but I'm still hanging in there!
My wife started working as a CCA about a month and a half ago, she worked 14 days straight they finally gave her one day off this past Friday. They called her that morning at 6am and asked her to work on that one day off after 14 days straight... we had already planed a little day getaway to relax so she said no. And she came into work the next day and they fired her... said that they need people that can come in when they call even if she hasn’t had a day off in 14 days. Unbelievable. Glad to see you’re still kicking it idk how some people can do this kind of job not having days off.
Yes, this is a major problem I’m having right now. It’s an unreasonable expectation to have people work like that. AND, to have a schedule, and then change it at the last minute. That’s bullshit. They lose workers for this and they actually think it’s a better way of doing business to keep spending the time and money advertising and training people in the hope that they can find people who don’t have any life at all outside the PO. How about adjust your methods of scheduling and you’ll retain good employees and you’ll save money in the long run? And they wonder why the USPS is losing money? I actually hope it runs out of money due to COVID (and incompetence). The only way this thing will get fixed is if they completely change their business model. As for me, 4 months in. 8 to go.
Tom Spallone yes exactly... keep people on a normal schedule, keep them somewhat happy.. it’s one thing if people quit because they can’t hack it but to fire someone in some bullshit like that?? If they just had a normal schedule and let people stick to it people would last there. Even if the schedule has long hours it’s ok at least people can plan to do stuff and still have a life. Think about how much money they waste on drug tests for everyone they hire, not to mention the money they spend for the background check company. Then just fire people lol It’s in-fucking-sane..
Tracie Clemons she didn’t even answer she just texted her postmaster back and she said ok can you come in early tomorrow.. just so they could fire her in front of everyone lol
2 weeks a CCA and had to case a full route😭....that did not turn out good. By the time I got my truck loaded to leave the parking lot was a ghost town. Yeeea they had to send a rescue team for me because it was almost 8pm and I was still trying to deliver mail and packages.🥴
I’ve only been on the job for about 4 months and am casing sporadically but, I’ve found that it helps that I start sorting things on the desk first by street or apartment clusters and THEN case those separated piles. This way your eye can stay in the same relative area in the case and you’re not jerking left, right, up, down......headache!
Thank you so much for this video. My first day on the road as a CCA was yesterday for the Dynamic Delivery. Coming from amazon and FedEx, that was easy. BUT I start my 3 days of training with mail in 2 days and I’m definitely gonna use the info you provided to be 1 step closer to being better than my crew I finished academy with lol.
I worked as a CCA in the City of Los Angeles, I lasted 7 months not because I wanted to quit, I found a job into the private sector. Being a CCA has to be the hardest job at the Post Office. You definintly need to have a tough skin to work there, it is not for the weak, if you dont like physical work, if you dont like waking for 9 hrs + EACH DAY, then the job is not for you. There plenty of jobs at the PO tht you can do. I recently came back to the Post office, I got let go atmy job and applyed as MHA (mail handler asst) working at the P&DC, less stress, you still have to put in work but you have some many people that help you get the job done. Great job on your site, stay strong, and yes everyone ALL CCAS need to get into the union THE DAY ITS OFFERRD TO YOU.
Great information as usual. On the case you will find the street names and the street numbers on the case stickers. The streets have a color and a design on the sticker. If you associate that color and design with the street name then every time you see that color it will be that street. When you are in the case next you will see what I am talking about. I may take some pictures for you all.
I have 4 walls in my case. The amount of stops is insane. We have sooo many SPRs and packages it’s unreal. As a new RCA, I take forever. I feel they’re going to fire me at any minute because I’m so slow.
@@cxrtelfilms9500 love the job still have a baaad day now and then on new routes but everybody is a team and help you along. best job ever plus i am fit
Also remember this, they need you more then you think because if they don't have someone to run a vacant route the supervisor, manager or who ever better lace up he'll I even seen Postmaster go out
Love your tats. Sorry to hear you moved on from this job but your videos have been helpful to me as a package delivery driver for DHL i'm going to be moving on to the USPS and its good to hear what its like.
Ever since I waited for Orientation, I subscribed to your channel to get a little insight. I still do, so thank you. Man, outside of day one at the office, I've had to do the full route, from casing to swiping out at the end of the day. Thankfully though, we have a small office with like 3 City routes. End of this week of my first month, I'm onto one of the other 3 routes to learn from beginning to end.
I like mail delivery, but I get sent to towns I don’t know which is hard, but some of the relays are impossible if you have never done them and if you take to long you get talked to. Why do they have to be so hard on new cca’s? . I do my best but sometimes it feels like your set up to fail.
The case where the section is a walking piece the addresses will be odd progressive then even progressive high to low or low to high. The mounted sections are in numerical order primarily.
Well they definitely shouldnt be throwing new ccas into cases theyve never even done a piece from. My station is hell like any other but atleast they have the common sense to put ccas whove seen parts or the entire route before being made to case it. As for me, ya Ive been thrown into routes Ive never done before, but Im an experienced ccas, I could figure it out without panic. That wont be the case for a new cca or inexperienced.
I’m going to start off with why did I get the notification that your videos may be inappropriate for viewing 😂😂 love your videos they have been so helpful. I’m sure you have mentioned it somewhere but I’m missing it. What do you recommend as the best shoe?
Well, I do have a bad mouth haha. When I first started I wore the New Balance "dad" shoe - in all black. After I could, I had to buy green tag shoes. I learned that if you don't have green tag shoes that if you get injured, they may try to use that as a loophole to not do what they are supposed to
I like to mark my spr with the dps. Like ill angle the dps letter and that tells me to check my satchel for the spr. Idk I think it helps. Also I use a big camping jug and fill it with ice and my water stays cold all day!
I'm so sorry. You are not alone. I wonder how often people that work really hard get canned. I hope you can dust yourself off and move on, Rosie. I'm wondering about my fate.
@@corinnamyers9671 I thought I was doing a good thing, but it worked against me. I put mail in a resident's box, crub side. I closed the mail box and was moving to the next box. His mail box fell off the stand. I stopped because I heard it and the person was in the yard. I reported it to my supervisor and they suspended my driving privileges and terminated me for an at-fault incident. I did not hit the mailbox. I was being courteous. Now I understand why you don't tell your supervisors anything. They called it an accident. The owner says his mailbox was unstable and picked it up and put it back on. Anyway, I am out.
Im super nerves starting out. I start Monday my orientation. Today I met with my postmaster and got shown around in the morning. Getting hired on as a CCA. So much going on in the morning I hoping I can pick it up fast and be able load the vehicle up. haha
I go with the new balance . I take out their insole and put in the sof sole athletic insoles you can get them on ebay or amazon $20 , They are worth it
Hey brand new CCA just finished my orientation and waiting for my shadow day then LLV crash course then off to CCA academy, I am trying to get as many tips for sorting and everything else! Thank you!
You do get medical as a CCA. You sign up in the first 60 days of being hired. Retirement accounts don’t start until you’re a regular and that takes somewhere between 1-3 years. It’s just depends on what office you’re at.
Mandi, This video is so on Time. I am a new RCA. I just finished training and have been in the office less than 2 weeks. I have been on my route 4 times. I have Thursday to try my route for the 5th time. If I don't finish I will be let go. You may have just given me the tool I needed to keep my job. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
Tamera Glowner I’m new too, this my 2nd week and they giving me more training and I had a bad Saturday last week, I mean it was horrible. But I didn’t have turn by turn or nor i didn’t have a ride along.
@@tiaire6395, Thanks for taking time to comment. I did another day of training today. I feel like a new person. It is starting to click, I have hope. Best wishes to you. I wish I could help you. I can tell you keep on keeping on. I will keep you in my prayers. Let's touch base in a couple weeks and give each other a pep talk.
What exactly is casing the mail? I thought all DPS comes presorted. So is it putting everything together? Flats, et cetera. Then you put it in your bag?
Its mostly the flats and other odd size things that were not able to presort. You put them up in the case based on street and address then pull it down and rubber band them up based on splits.
I have orientation next week and I’ve took my finger prints but still no drug test are they still doing it or it’s just random now if anybody knows please inform me
@@andremoore6149 but.. fyi .. A majority of the drug tests are being delayed due to the covid thing... so they are SKIPPING the drug tests in most major cities and still continuing with the hiring process..
Hi, I know you've moved on from the post office, but can you or any fellow rural carriers give me tips on how to get out the post office faster while casing. Sidenote: I only case my flats, hot case mail & package markers.
You thinking about things wrong when you case are you casing to standard?...because if you're and it is still taking over the allotted time then the route might be too long
@@pryese7 I actually don't case none of my DPS anymore only hot case mail, package markers & flats. I insert each as I pull down, but still somehow end up being the last to leave the office.
Hello beautiful, thank you for being such a blessing. You're wonderful for sharing your experience with us. Can you please tell me why you're thinking of quitting CCA position? I just finished my LLV training. OMG it was not easy. My instructor was very strict but thank God I passed. Any advice for me. I'm a little stressed out about working as a RCA now. I thought it will be a hard job but at least I'll have a team but now I'm not sure. 💔
I start Tuesday as RCA I'm worried that I'm making a bad choice. I just saw the video for 4 months ago. however your still here! I'm worried cause it seems like everyone hates this job that I've seen on RU-vid. I also have 60 days to buy a correct vehicle for the job. I was told to get a van.
James Thompson run away man, they fired my wife a month and half in after working her 14 days straight and called her at 6am the morning of her only day off to ask if she could come in... we had already planned a little day to getaway so she could rejuvenate. So she said no. She went in the next day and they fired her first thing in the morning. Said they need people that come in whenever they need you despite the amount of days you’ve worked straight. If you want to have any life at all outside the post office run away!
I got hired as a TCA and just finished my LLV training but a CCA job opened up at my station. I was wondering if I can be transferred into the CCA position being a new hire? Any input is great!
Prob not. TCA is a brand new position just to cover potential staffing issues with the pandemic. Your best bet is reapplying for the CCA position after you get your feet wet and decide if you like it or not
Colleen J So there’s no way they can switch me to a CCA position now and hire someone else as TCA? Also, 2 other people were hired for that same station along with me is there a chance they might get the CCA position before me? Thank you for replying! I’m just new to all this
Hey there ! I’m a TCA too ! Just wanted to make a lil money what do they make you do ? I’m doing drop ships and firm sheets for some of the most Troublesome addresses took me a while at first but then got it done 6 hours of work then I’m home
