It is actually one of about 35 retractable hardtop kits designed by the engineer who designed the retractable hard tops for the fifties Ford Skyliners. Ford determined it would make the Mustang too expensive and the project was scrapped. Once the engineer retired in the early 90's, he sold off the 30 some prototype kits. This one was installed when the car went through its restoration.
