The CCIE Service Provider exam has evolved to match the new dynamic trend of SDN technologies which are fully programmable and can simplify the delivery of next-gen 5G services to achieve required business outcomes. As telecom networks transition to next-gen
technologies, CCIE SP certification will help to bridge the gap to prepare new workforce of hybrid engineers.
This session will help candidates understand the the foundations of SRv6. We will address best practices of simplifying the exam preparation journey to CCIE SP exam by clarifying exam topics such as SRv6 and then provide real practical scenarios and demo
relevant to the industry. After this event you will better scope of these topics in the CCIE SP Lab Exam.

If the transit nodes doesn't have to be SRv6 aware and have to forward the packet base on the routing table, is the transit nodes going to forward the packet base on Locators or base on destination ipv6 address? I am asking because in MPLS transit nodes forward packets base on labels without doing a layer 2 rewrite.

If the transit node is non-SRv6 capable, due to the fact the Locator is advertised as a regular IPv6 prefix, the transit node will install the IPv6 prefix in its routing table and perform regular destination-based IPv6 routing.

@@elvinarias2813 If that is the case, how is that going to help time-sensitive applications like VoIP since each transit nodes along the path has to make an independent forwarding decision for each packet based solely on the packet's network layer header as oppose to SR-MPLS that uses labels? I understand one of the reasons for SRv6 is to avoid state in the network.

@@yawnyame981 - That is one of the tradeoffs you need to consider in your design.
