Yep, my rule of thumb is if I sweat I shower. no reason to shower if you’re not grimy or smelly and I refuse to believe grown adults can’t tell one way or the other about themselves.
@@n00bKen but dermatologists have been saying this for a couple years now. *Everyday* is bad for your skin especially with hot showers. 3-4 times a week is optimal
Chat did Connor dirty. Showering everyday, especially using soap that’s harsh on your skin, can cause dryness that results in it being far more susceptible to breakouts, eczema, and other skin issues. Every other day is ideal, but that’s for Connor. Mousey’s ideal is every day due to her condition, and I’m sure she uses moisturizers that help her after showers. tl;dr as long as you dont reek like swampass, shower on your preferred schedule
Exactly. Someo many people think you're supposed to do a full bath daily when in reality factors like: how much you sweat, the oilyness or dryness of your skin, and the climate are all contributing factors to how much you should bathe. Different routines for different situations.
@@miltonfigueroa3111 used to live in the Philippines where it gets humid and hot on a daily basis. Yes, i used to bathe everyday because of it. So yeah, it’s really situational on the whole bathing daily thing. Same with deodorants, those can clog up pores in your armpits so pick ones that don’t and don’t reply on perfumes, cologne, and other aromatics.
I learned the hard way from having my hands in water/soap too much from dishwashing. Now I have persistent dry skin on my hands that worsen in cold seasons with my skin literally tearing from the dryness. Healing and tearing over and over. Even with hand cream... Yeah, not fun.
Is this seriously something people don't know? Even as a child I was told that showering every day isn't good for your skin. Connor is absolutely right, showering every other day is perfectly fine if you didn't sweat a lot.
when i was a kid i didn't even smell much. i go to bath only every week and nobody even notice or tell me that i am stink. 🤷♂️ i think that's a thing about a kids.🤔
You don't have to shower every day, but you DO sweat every day. Just because you're not at the gym doesn't mean your not sweating. You objectively are cause thats how your body works.
Body odor is subjective, I generally sometimes feel like showering when my body feels unusual due to the grimes in the hair and such, as well as would prefer to be clean more often because the grimes goes on the bed when you sleep, something you do not want long term.
As a med student, no it won’t. Showering is the better alternative for her, but I believe she live in Puerto Rico so she prob should let the shower run before she steps into it because of bacteria in the pipes/shower head :)
@@9xtryhx230 Puerto Rico is very humid, so most people shower everyday. I think that's why she is baffled by Connors statement. That, or she likes to annoy him. :)
@@9xtryhx230 I believe she currently lives in the US as it was necessary for her to have ready access to the amount of plasma she needs or something like that? IIRC she grew up in Puerto Rico but at some point after her condition began worsening her family moved to the US. It's entirely possible I might have gotten something mixed up however.
So I live Georgia (state) so during the summer I usually shower everyday cuz the humidity just makes you sweat no matter what while during the winter I shower 3 or 4 times a week
Live in Australia, you will drown in sweat and humidity on the east coast. Beyond that green great range you will fry in 50 degree heat. Showering everyday is highly recommended. Also don’t mind Dave the brown snake, he just wants warm cuddles with his bunk bro :)
No, its much more about how its washed. Lol running water over it every day will not cause irritation. Rubbing one out every day is more likely to cause a problem
@@imneveruploadinghere7180 true, but even using them too often will cause irritation, its kind of like if you have a cut and keep smearing disinfectant on it, it can cause the surrounding area to become raw and infected, our body is remarkably good at cleaning itself, soap only works upto a point before it causes further problens
Outside of a hot country where you'd be sweating buckets just by lying around, or due to special circumstances like Mouse's, you really don't need to shower if you're not going out. It IS actually bad for your skin to shower everyday; as it turns out there's no such thing as a shower in nature, so most land animals evolved to cope with only occasionally being soaked (i.e. by rainfall or in lakes, etc.). Stripping your skin of it's natural oils everyday and putting harsh soaps on it can cause issues.
Most land animals wash in rivers, streams, or lakes regularly (they need to drink there so why not wash), it makes sense that humans and apes specifically would wash more regularly given the wet tropical regions they evolved in. The soap stuff is true though.
Large swaths of the populace up to 1/3rd but under half, actually need to wash very frequently. Cause of a scalp condition that causes skin irritation and heavy big flake dandruff. Something to being more susceptible to the fungus that eats at our scalp oils, leaves the saturated ones, which cause skin irritation, itching and dandruff. So you're right, but there's also people that need soap and water to get rid of oils!
It's actually not good for you hair to shower too often, especially if you're a person who uses shampoo everytime. I mean just washing yourself in and out of the shower doesn't matter.
Even the water can be bad for your skin if you insist on actually hot water, but it's fine if you use lukewarm or cold water. For the same reason shampoo and soap can be bad if done too often; hot water strips necessary natural oils away.
I mean you can shower without washing your hair you know. Just saying. you can just wash below your head then just wipe your face with a clean cloth(wet it)and add some soap if you want then rinse the cloth you used and use that again to get the soap off then dry off. In our family we never shower when we're sick so we just wipe ourselves which is honestly what everyone should do.
Yea if you don't sweat you technically don't need to shower. Showering too much also washes off something on the skin iirc. But if you live near the equator like moi you gotta shower cos it's so freaking hot every day
Okay let's take a tally here: 1st opinion: "a portion of legally recognized experts in the relevant field are on the record as agreeing with this opinion" 2nd opinion: "but you gotta" Yeah who got checkmate out of this one lmao what a rube
I'm on Connors side with the "decontamination chamber". Ironmouses house needs one. And when you get out of it, you get some of these sterilized white clothes and slippers to wear.
"And then I die in three days" "Yes, that would be unfortunate" From the great minds that brought you 'if everyone is rich, nobody is broke', here we have Connor being great with words once again.
Living in a country where you can start sweating even when you dont move at all, daily showers to keep you from being a sweaty oily mess is necessary lmao.
As a Brazilian, this is unthinkable. Even when I spent one week on Japan and its was quite cold by my standards (5 degrees), still took a shower every day.
Cologne and perfumes are sold in just about every department store in Japan. Not to mention Amazon Japan. It is absolutely not hard to acquire cologne in Japan.
I didn't know you could get eczema from soap, this makes me curious though. I get these spots on my chin and cheeks to varying degrees every time after I shave and after reading this, I'm wondering if it's maybe the shaving butter I've been using all this time. Could I be right in this, or is am I completely wrong in thinking shaving cream could cause these spots?
@@klafsen There are different types of skin and soap, so I guess you got some unlucky combo. I myself is used to normal bar soap from an early age and I wash my hands with it several times a day (depends on what do I do, how much am I busy, etc). When I use liquid soap from a dispenser, for me it feels that not only it doesn't wash the skin properly, but also that I kinda can't wash it off my hands 100%. No such feeling with bar soap.
Since I haven't had to go out a lot lately, I've kinda found myself in this same routine of only showering every other day if it wasn't hot enough for me to get sweaty even indoors, and I realized how terribly dry my skin used to get when I was still showering daily.
bro if i'm not leaving my house, i'm not showering. like if no one is smelling me, what's the point. i don't need to smell good and look presentable to lay around my house all day and do nothing. monke is right on this one. also literally like almost everyone i've met does not shower every day. they either shower every other day, shower once every three days, or again like i do, shower only when i leave the house. and i've been told i smell good so i don't wanna hear shit
Despite showering everyday I agree with Connor. The only reason I shower everyday is because I'm from Australia and it's always hot and side-effect of my medication is excessive sweating.
It's bad for your skin to shower everyday. Plus, if you don't sweat and you don't play outside in the dirt that much, you gather dirt at a pretty slow pace. Once every 2 days is actually fine. You guys are over-thinking this.
I guess Mousey assumed the phrase "sweating balls" refered to the balls sweating a lot. When in reality it's more that having sweaty balls is uncomfortable, so when you say you're sweating balls, you mean that you're sweating so much it's uncomfortable.
so no sweat = no shower? seems to make some sense with a/c in tropical or hot countries as long as you dont sweat or go outside. i can imagine taking a shower in the cold countries where you would need hot water on tap unless yu can stand it. but then again there are other factors like the smoke from cars, people smoking, mud, or if you dropped food on yourself for instance thats when id go take a shower. Semi-agree with Monke on this one.
I shower if I have to make myself presentable for someone else, or I feel gross. I'm in America with my dad rn, so I have to take a bath every day so he doesn't say "Did you shower? You fuckin smell."
I mean, the not showering every oyher day thing only applies if you don't sweat. As a member of the SEA Gang as well, we need to do it because the humidity that is most certainly out to kill us makes us sweat like a geyser. I've lived in really cool climates wherein if you just stay at home and the weather doesnt make you sweat, you really do not need to shower barring special circumstances.
We South American Equator line dwellers gang also suffer with that shit all the time. Today was like 37°C where I live. I went to a restaurant with my family and the car ride was painful. Even with air conditioning the temperature was at some 25° at best.
Showering everyday makes sense if you’re in a tropical country or you have your AC on almost all the time don’t sweat. Still, for me who lives in a tropical country with unlimited AC, I still stink somehow after not showering one day. So, in conclusion, shower every other day if you don’t sweat.
you know there are products that makes you not need to bathe at all. however there are mental and physical bonuses to taking a bath outside of "getting clean" so it's still good to shower or take baths. but yes over showering isn't good for your skin or for your hair because it will dry you out and remove a lot of essential oils and other things that your body makes to regulate your skin and hair.
*NO THE NO DEODORANT THING IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE* Im forever scarred by that one guy at my apartment gym that doesnt wear deodorant and made it unbearable to do any exercise *PLUS CONNOR BEING A WHITE BRITISH MAN IN A HUMID COUNTRY LIKE JAPAN?? PHUQ NOOO BAAAAABYY*
If you aren't doing much, showering every 1-3 days is perfectly fine. Washing your hair 1-2 times a week is ideal, any more and it's bad for your hair. Wash your face daily is a good idea. Moisturizing after a shower is a must. Exfoliating your skin once or twice a week is great for it.
Fun fact showering or bathing execively can leave your hair Extremly damaged as hair naturally requires a litlte bit of natural oil you create daily in order to not fall off!
This is definitely more of a social issue than a hygiene issue, if you ask me. I'm on Connor's side. And is it me or does Mouse kind of break character with her voice when she realizes that Connor doesn't shower every day?
It's unhealthy not to poop every day. So, let's assume that you do that but that you only shower every other day. What does this mean? Well, while you're sitting in your chair, moisture is naturally accumulating in your asscrack, and since you haven't showered since you pooped, there's definitely bacteria mixed in that moisture, too. The perineum (aka the taint) is a bridge that directly connects that area to your balls. So, if you take a poop and then just sit down for 12 hours (assuming a sedentary lifestyle), your balls are just marinating in moisture that is steeped in bacteria. So, yeah, this is why you still need to wash your groin and your balls every day. :P Washing your armpits is a recommended practice, too. You can refrain from washing everything else, like the rest of your torso, arms, and legs where the benefits to your skin may outweigh the need for cleanliness and you can afford to skip a day. But do NOT skip washing your groin, especially, because bacteria congregate there. If you go to sleep without cleansing yourself after going to the bathroom you'll wind up with staph bacteria just sitting on your skin overnight, and staph bacteria is the single biggest cause of pimples. You are definitely NOT helping your skin by doing this. Extra note for women: failing to appropriately clean the groin region every day leads to a statistically higher risk of urinary infections and yeast infections. Is it not good to let excess bacteria linger near the vaginal opening and the simplest way to get rid of it is to rinse it away. This is what Mouse is alluding to at 2:11. Connor, being a man, failed to consider this aspect of human anatomy (since he doesn't possess it).
"you can't smell yourself" Me: well we'll see about that *Smells myself* Yep.. you can definitely smell yourself... 2nd comment bc I don't wanna post 2 comments on the same video: Not showering for only one day? Pathetic
Hahahaha yeah I don't shower everyday either, nor do I use deodorant or cologne. HOWEVER, if you tell that to a latina, you can't expect a favorable reaction. Ppl here shower twice a day sometimes, and not doing it is a fucking crime.
Yeah unless you live in fucking africa you don't need to shower every day. It's ridiculous how people think that a day without a shower makes you disgusting or whatever.
I make my bf use Alum as deodorant. It just makes him salty like the ocean so he has no bad BO. No cologne bs.. just smells like clean man.. god damn love it
Tbh it's not that good to shower everyday cuz if you do shower everyday it messes up with the bodily oil that the body will produce Thank you Dr.Mike for that :3
Funny part is that Connor is right, before i started working and as a child i was told to shower every 3rd day, now that i work and sweat a lot, i take a shower everyday but thats because i dont wanna smell like shit.
You really shouldn't shower every day, unless your daily life or some medical condition requires it. Plus, it wastes a lot of water, especially if you bathe. 2-3 times a week is the suggested amount, iirc.
if you are home, alone, by yourself, who cares if you dont shower everyday, or even if you stink or wear the same boxers. just wash before you go out, and change. it literally doesn't affect anyone.
That's.. actually quite normal, I used to live in new york, and in the colder months I'd skip a day or two of a shower, one it saves on the water bill, but two, it gets so cold that unless you're exerting physical effort sitting in your computer chair will NOT leave you even remotely sweaty or dirty, you can definitely shower every other day or two in the colder months. Summer? OR since I've moved to florida where it's summer 11.5 months out of the year? Yeeeah every day
i mean i don't either, considering i barely ever leave the house i'll sometimes go four or five days without showering depending on if i'm feeling grimey or not
I...I can relate with Connor so much. Except, it's not just one day. If I stay home that long, I could not shower for 2 days straight. Or 3 if I'm lazy.
