This is the simplest caddis fly I have come across but it does work incredibly well on picky trouts. Great channel, thanks for sharing!

Petitjean is somewhere smiling happily seeing someone tying the body that way... For the wing, I typically use my fingers to pull and create a ragged appearance, rather than cut. I also use two CDC feathers for the wing, and have even seen some use zelon under the CDC wing. I once was in a pinch during a trico hatch (I had lost my Miller based trico flies at that point), and used a similar tie as this in a size 22 (body was green though and dun for the wings) and pulled a few more fish out of the feeding pod. It works and is simple. Really simple. My last thought is that I love Loon Aquel and it works well for CDC flies.

Thanks for the video i tied some up and had some nice wild brown trout here in iceland. I did notice some very small caddis on the water so tried your fly and bang first cast got nailed by brownie.

Very helpful is to wet the first CDC with water. With enough twist this makes a segmentation

You think a 6x mono rib would help with durability without comprising the fly?

I would for the body, but it is generally the wing that takes the most abuse.

I find CDC very hard to anchor... do some types of thread work better than others?
