well I think you should: 1 - use a proper tool to smooth/remove excess material, like a wooden blcok, or better if some bulit-in solution. Even better if you manage to automate this proccess. 2 - install it over a grill, so you don´t have to worry about losing material. After doing your blocks, swipe leftovers to the grill, open it and recover that material. 3 - optimize your proccess: clear the space around, set everything you´ll need beforehand. Think about ergonomy, economy and quality!
Results have to very according the "earth" mixture. Obviously it's filtered pretty fine but I'm wondering if any cement or concrete mix is added. I'd add it as it could only help even in a small amount. Many rammed earth mixtures I've seen do it.
id like to hear what do you think about ceb press. does it really make strong enough to build bricks? since im student myself and live from my own earnings im kinda saving my money, and it will be really sad if i make something like this and it wouldnt work as i expect.. =] or maybe i could buy 1 brick from you for testing?
now I could tell why hemp is so much stronger, because the pulp reconnects upon curing making it a tightknit brick. I wonder if using a hydraulic press would make the brick even stronger like how pill manufacturers use extreme pressures to turn crystals into pills.
The trouble is, that you need to be using about 10% cement to volume / weight in the mix. If that ratio is not used, the bricks will fail in service. That, is what you do not want! I am looking to experiment with agricultural lime, that is a by-product of limestone. My thinking is that I am going to have to run a minimum of 15% aglime to the total mix. Plan is to get the block tested in a calibrated press, to see what it can stand up to before it fails. With cement, to achieve 15 mPa, from memory, it is a mix of 4 parts gravel, 3 parts sand, 1 part cement, plus water to suit. The trouble is that concrete blocks are rated for high rise construction, whereas the CSEB are only rated for 3 to 4 levels, depending on the jurisdiction.
am i the only one who was like GTFO OF THE WAY! To the woman who had to get up close to the press and in front of the camera right when the press is compressing? Good thing they do two runs lol
