This was so good to know when I become a Mom! My Mom had a hard time. I don't want her negative narrative be mine! I don't want to be mean to my children! I don't want to crush their Spirit! Correction is to be done in love! I don't know how to do that yet! I want to encourage people to do better! To be better! They really need to know that someone is in their corner. I felt like it was me against the world for so long! I felt like everyone was against me whether they were or not! Children need at least one ally in their corner! I think they need someone who they can trust! Life is hard enough! I am not an expert by any means or stretch of the mark. I think you will get more lee way with encouragement than beating over the head with a ton of bricks like I was. I am a little rough sometimes! I need to work on being more sensitive. I am not sure why I am not? Oh yes, I was told that I was too sensitive by this gentleman! I think I changed from that day forward! I don't have to be hard to get my point across. I don't have to be hard... I wasn't even born that way! There is nothing wrong with being too sensitive! He was wrong to tell me that! I was wrong for believing him! There is nothing wrong with me crying! I don't have to suck it up! I don't have to suck it up all the time! I don't have to suck it up and move on! If something hurts, I don't have to not cry! It's okay to cry! It's okay for me to cry!
I too was told I was too sensitive but by my dad. It broke me and made me think something was wrong with me. I truly believe that I am sensitive because God made me that way and you know what else? Being sensitive I really deeply feel the Holy Spirit! I also connect deeply with hurting people because I can feel their pain. I think the enemy put those words in my dads mouth in order to try to change me so I wouldn’t be sensitive to the Holy Spirit or used by God to help the hurting. As an older mom with adult children and a teen some advice i would give you is spend time with Jesus each morning and speak life over your kids. Tell them what the Bible says that they are a blessing, that God has a plan for their life- a good plan!

I can no longer raise our oldest teen granddaughter anymore after 16 years (since birth) because I’ve given (my husband has given) and I personally don’t have anymore to give than what I’ve already given over the years!! Parenting a teen in today’s society is harder than ever (harder than when we were raising our own) and technology has gotten in the way of so much when it comes to trying to shield, lead and guide young people because the parents can say one thing and social media and their peers can say another thing that seems to overpower the authority of the parents, teachers, law enforcement and other elders in the community. We love this young lady but she doesn’t want anything to do with the word of God, teen devotional or even attending a youth camp (nothing!). She only thinks of her (self/flesh) and oftentimes will not apologize unless practically begged to do so and that shouldn’t be!! We backed off with “making” her go to church but every now and again we will say “get ready for church service” because we didn’t want it to seem like a chore for her or we were forcing God onto her but we have said “you need God in order to survive out here in this wicked world 🌎 “ but she is so rebellious (no drugs/alcohol or sexual activity thank God!!!)!!! She can be a very pleasant child when she “chooses” to be and we’ve explained that so many times but yet, the Bible warns us about how children’s behavior would be one day (incredibly disobedient in attitude/demeanor) etc….
There really wasn't a need to go into that whole spill. Yes. We need to vent and release sometimes, but there is a healthy and right way to do it. Even if you see them making what you think is poor choices, or choosing the wrong path. Make sure that you are not choosing to be overbearing unnecessarily, controlling, or manipulative. Generally you just have to put and keep them in God's hands, and lay them at God's feet much like Hannah did with her son. Release and surrender them over to God completely, and you have to choose to stop being a form of god in their lives. God can handle and take care of them way better then you can. I pray your strength in the Lord in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ of NAZARETH. The name above ALL names. AMEN.
Why don't you change your narrative! You say she doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, have sexual relations. Then start telling her how proud of her you are! I was thinking about this the other day. One time, I got 1 C on my report card! All my Mom could see was the C. She couldn't see that the rest were As and Bs. Do you know how hard I tried to get those good grades. I got them and she still wasn't pleased. So you know what? I felt like why keep trying? Stop criticizing all the time and tell her how proud you are of her!!!

We've been thru so much since the pandemic started and we still havent been able to get back to our feet again. We're like stuck.
