Cecil Frances Alexander (1818 - 1895) was a remarkable woman. Not only did she pen 400 hymns you may have sung countless times, or heard of and even know by name, she was there at the time of the great potato famine and cared for all people, no matter what their background or faith, gaining respect and admiration from everyone who came in contact with her.
As Countryfile celebrates her, in this 200th year of her birth in 2018, she is remembered here in Northern Ireland.
She was born in Dublin and lived in Ireland (at the time, totally under British rule) and gave so much to the people under some of the harshest conditions and her penned 400 hymns shared with the rest of the world.
You may not have heard of her before, but chances are you know or have heard at least one of her hymns.
A truly remarkable individual and showing the greatness, of what a good human being can achieve.
