She might be more familiar with "Brennball" where you don't have to hit a ball that's being thrown at you but you throw a ball (like soccer ball or volley ball), and then also run bases until the other team got the ball back to the ball spot next to the throwing spot. We played that pretty often back in school here in Immerheim.

tbh, I might vaguely remember a game called "Brennball" in PE back then, but ... that's ages ago. I get the ball-part, but was it really ... erm, oversized baseball? On the other hand, I only cared for games like handball or hockey.

Umm, I don't know why that has anything to do with age. Nobody in Europe knows how to play baseball. It's not a thing here. And HSM was popular everywhere.

I can confirm that i have yet to see a single Baseball field in Immerheim. Saw a single american Football field but that was so weird outside of a normal city that you needed a car to get to it. But normal football fields with 2 goals included are basically everywhere you go. You would have to extra go out of your way to not see one.

I think my random rural village school was the only one in the UK that had the equipment to play baseball. But only girls were allowed to play it, boys had to play cricket.

Nah, baseball as such basically just isn't a thing outside the US and Japan (who picked it up from the previous, unsurprisingly). Similar games do exist but tend to be substantially different - eg. the _pesäpallo_ (a pretty literal translation of the name) popular here in Finland is MUCH faster-paced and played in a considerably smaller field with some fairly major differences in the rules.

We have plenty of soccer. Mostly children's and school age stuff. But there are pro level men's and women's teams in bigger cities. They just don't get a lot of publicity.

Problem is US scouting they go to prep schools and the like for some reason like seriously I know for sure there's kids that can't afford those school who'll end up way better with the right training maybe just by going against the competition that's what club teams do think Jurgen wanted to overhaul the entire thing but US Soccer wouldn't go for it

Soccer is the 5th most successful professional team sport in the US. Not as many American athletes try to make a career of it, but almost everyone has played it in school, if only because it's so cheap that even schools with budget problems can afford a single ball and some random markers for goals.

Just because some kids may play it doesn't mean the culture is actually there on the country as a whole or that it's popular to the same extent as it is in other countries, which is more than evident
