Of course they’re not going to do compressions; That would require breaking their ribs not to mention that this is just a drill, never saying anywhere that this is real. I was a bit surprised once they said the chest does not rise and fall and then went to rescue breathing I guess you can see if there’s a FBAO with that but you’d have to act fast to switch to that and start cpr
First off, what was that approach head up front crawl not doggy paddle, when you guys put her on the board take your time and do it right the flotation device was still under her causing her back to arch, not everyone needs to be counting the 2 or 3 people doing nothing could be calling EMS, clearing the pool, getting supplies ect. When you ues an AED you have to dry the victim off first ever one that was in the puddle around her would be electrocuted in the end when you did the puke role if you suspect a spinal treat it as such and even if it's not don't just flop them over lift the left knee and right arm, role and put the left arm out to hold them up ( or vice versa) so they don't drowned in puke not to mention that if you don't want throw up on you have the guards on the same side.
This wasn’t a scenario where they suspected a spinal or was a rapid extract and even if they did if the GID is unresponsive life over limb spinal goes out the window when they go unresponsive. And for Ellis guards they’re all required to count if they’re in the scenario just saying Red Cross might work different couldn’t say though
i just completed my nls course and i know if my instructor seen this he would be yelling at the lifeguards that were just counting and doing nothing else.... there is so much they could have done, for instance, setting up the AED, calling ems, head to toe check. and the air way was not even open during the breaths.... and if there was no pulse why was no one doing compressions? wtf
I've done this exact same scenario at a cedar fair park with Ellis training and this scenario only actually needs 4 guards. One on compressions, one on breaths, one mask seal, one pumping the oxygen, and one on AED
Gabriel C this is a scenario and the counting depicts rescue breaths that would happen when there is a heartbeat but no pulse. The breaths are to get oxygen to the blood and hopefully keep your lungs going. But this is JUST a scenario so it’s teaching them how to do it :)

Ezy Pezy suspected spinal are if you see them dive head first in shallow water. Spinals are also very rare and you wouldn't put the body on a backboard now a days due to problems they cause. You would only stabilize them with an arm splint in the water until emt arrived if they conscious.
Michael Fitzpatrick tf you on ahah? It should always be treated as a spinal if you diddnt see what happened, if the body has sunk it’s more likely to be a heart attack or stroke. Head splints are only used to recover a suspected spinal in shallow water, deep water would be a vice grip
retry the update on my way to get the maps and not home right now if i can pick it up today after scooter and the state has a faded part and some cleaning right away know when your here and pick it up not broth the morning 15mins later
