"We were together!" As I sit in one of the rooms my wife and I remodeled, I do remember our togetherness and treasure it. She left her human form just 1.5 years ago and would surely appreciate that I very much appreciate her and her contributions.

From 1 LEO to another, good work! I remember remodeling our house when we bought it in 2002. It looked like an episode from the 70's Show; shag carpet, linoleum floors, pink and blue bathroom sinks and cast iron tub, formica countertops. I did all the work myself. I worked afternoon shift but work on the house started at 7 am til noon. It gave me enough time to shower, eat and make rollcall by 2pm. We worked 4-10's. I was also on SWAT. I did not stop, 7 days a week. I remember on several occasions being in the middle of working on the house and I'd get a SWAT callout. Drop everything, change and tear off to work. We lived in the house the whole time, it took me 2 years to finish.

Reminds me of my mother. We dare not ever tell her we were bored in the Summer. She would send us outside to dig dandelions. Not just her own kids. But the neighbor kids, too. She became a legend in the neighborhood. The day of her funeral, more than one kid (now in our 50s) showed up with a fork to send to heaven with her. One brought pennies, too. Seems she offered a penny bounty on the dandelions, but I am sure we were never paid. We had a great time doing it, bonding in a way we might not have if not for that task.

Use a larger paint stir stick, as your spacer for the drywall..to keep it off the floor, when you get to the walls.

The industry standard is to keep the drywall up 3/16 to 1/4 inch off the floor, in case water gets all over the floor, to prevent the drywall edge from wicking the water up.

This episode of you 2 brought an inner smile on my face . My dad was also a doityourself Bob the builder, He rebuild a massive farmhouse almost all by himself. So when i had some building to do or remodeling , it was me and Bob mostly at work together, and sometimes mom was helping also . So at one point we had to dry wall a ceiling also for an extra room in my practice . My dad ordered my mom and me to hold the thing above our heads against the ceiling and when we did that he stepped back , after a while , mom and me still standing there , arms up holding the thing and we got tired ofc. , he was still standing a few meters away from us , so i told him ehm dad ehm come and nail the thing already , we cant hold it much longer. He said yeah wait I am finguring out how and whats the best way. I looked at my mom and told her to put it down . Dad next time figure it out before you put us like this I said and i think we went to make coffee. At this point now, I have to laugh so much about these funny situations that happened while my papa was still alive Working together with him , sometimes was frustrating and sometimes soooo funny . Pap up there Love you

I am absolutely blown away by the amazing progress you have made since the new year started in spite of the weather challenges you have dealt with recently. I am sure that it seems overwhelming, discouraging and frustrating, at times. Yet, you guys continue to push through. It has been a joy to watch you since I found your channel not long before you moved to Idaho. I am a single mom on disability and have had far too many surgeries throughout my daughter’s life. Watching your channel has brought me so much when I am stuck for weeks to months in the hospital or in bed. I feel like there is a part of me that lives vicariously through each stage of your adventures/journey…a part of me that dreams of doing what you guys are doing but most likely will never have the opportunity to accomplish shy of God providing me with a miracle or two. Moreover, even more than the opportunity to live vicariously through your journey, I have appreciated and treasured the poignant lessons you share that you have learned, Melissa…lessons that God has opened your eyes to, thoughts laid on your heart, or tidbits you just want to share as you look upon this beautiful journey of yours. And, Jeremy, your love for your family and your adoration of Melissa is palpable. You truly exemplify how the Bible tells husbands to love their wives in Ephesians 5. It is beautiful to watch. I love how you both joke, laugh, tease, flirt, and just enjoy each other. The strength of your marriage and your dedication to each other is apparent. Further, I love how you both are so intentional to prioritize family through it all. Finally, I love how you both lean into each other and prioritize your family through all of this. In fact, the tougher moments, moments that would cause a rift in many relationships and families, seem to drive you towards one another rather than pushing you each away from each other and you seem to pull your family in tighter. Keep up the wonderful work and I look forward to watching many more years of your journey and of your adventures. Thank you so much for blessing each us through your willingness to share your story and to give us a peek into your lives. God bless you both!

Hello everyone, it's me again. Lothar from Germany. Nice to see that you are already attaching the sheetrock to the ceiling. It's going super fast. Keep it up! I built my own house about 15 years ago and I would like to give you some important advice. (maybe I've already done that???) You absolutely have to take a lot of pictures of your walls and also of the ceilings. Especially from the walls. You need to know the exact location of the power cables and other installation. Always use a measuring tape so that you always know where a line runs. Measure both the width and the height. Take the time to do this - you will be very happy about it later. Promised. I have done this very carefully and have used it very often. The position of the wooden stand is also important if you have to hang up something heavy or if you have to break through a wall. Again - measure everything extremely precisely and save it on the computer. Best sorted by rooms, otherwise you lose track! Well then, happy work. Greetings from Germany - Lothar

You should be using the drywall square to make your cuts as well...much faster!
@lanemontgomery4968

I suspect you have considered each of these suggestions, but I'll make them anyway. The first thing I would do is build some semi-permanent, stable steps into the front door. The steps you curentlly have barely qualify as steps, in my opinion. Stablizing them (preferably building new) would enhance safety, also. The second thing I would do is back the trailer under the open roof so the fold-down door could be opened onto some sort of secure stands so the transport of materials, such as the drywall sheets, can be transferred almost directly into the building eliminating the plastic pathway you currently use tha is anything but clean and is also a safety concern. I'm confident that you can back the trailer into position where the door folds down within 1-2' of the front door and a sheet of plywood could be used as the bride from the trailer's now-flat door to the house's doorway. Just sayin'.

A couple of comments. First, I love your commercials. Y’all’s creativity is just off the charts. Great job. Second, the reflective nature of your commentary at the end really does bring such a grateful spirit to your videos. Simple gratitude and being able to just take joy in being with those you love comes glaringly through in the videos. I’ve said it before and I stand by it again, I have no doubt, none, that our Messiah looks upon this family and proudly says…”these are My children in whom I am well pleased”. I truly wish I could find the right words to convey how our Lord takes joy in your family. You both and your children all occupy such a precious place in God’s heart. I hope you and your children know our God proudly proclaims to all of creation you are His…

Huge drywall job for beginners, but it looks great! If there's anything worth subbing out, it's the mudding/taping/finish coats on the drywall joints. The mudding is truly the most frustrating, dirty and time-consuming part, and a professional drywall finishing crew can get it done quickly and save you a huge headache.
@dct1238
@dct1238 2 года назад
I disagree. A "professional" nowadays are horrible at taping, unless one plans on doing a heavy knock-down on the walls.
@daveenyart
@daveenyart 2 года назад
Yep ....I was wondering about the tape/mud as well. I'd sub it out too. I will mud 5 pounds and sand off 4 pounds. Kudos to the contractors who do that stuff.
@thebluelibra5686
@thebluelibra5686 2 года назад
@@daveenyart There's definitely an art to it, and it's extremely easy to burn thru material, time and your own patience pretty quickly while you're learning. I'm decent at mudding/finishing, but definitely not a pro, even after completing dozens of fairly large renovation projects, I'd still sub out a project like this to a pro crew.

From having a drywall business years ago, most sheetrockers have a permanent knot on the top of there heads. It's important to sink the screws into the sheetrock leaving an indentation. You fill them with drywall mud and can sand smooth. If you don't put the screws in far enough, they can pop lose and will be able to see them even after painting. I agree Melissa, I used to help move 12 ft sheets and they are back breakers.

You guys are doing great… my wife and I built the interior to our 1st house as part of our down payment. 1983 BTW. We got the subcontractor’s pay for doing the drywall, mud work, trim work including setting the doors and the carpet…. It was a lot of work in a short time because we had to stay on the master schedule like a subcontractor too. I worked weekend doing the aluminum siding on a lot of homes with a friend that did that full time… that qualified me for this deal. We learn a lot, just like you all are doing… you are sore, you sleep good, and keep moving forward…. Thank so much for building the video editing skills at the same time and sharing the results with all of us. I bet the house will start to feel a good bit warmer soon too. That will help your speed of work a lot… you’ll be surprised. Blessings to you both…

I am glad I stumbled upon your channel by coincidence. You made my heart stop bleeding. Thank you so much! With deep respect Peter from 🌲🇩🇪👌

Glad you addressed the vapour barrier question. In so far as moisture trapping, most of that is due to insufficient air movement in the attic. Make sure you have a ample venting system in your attic.

It's starting to really come together now. I can't wait to see your first crackling fire in your woodstove. I wish I'd done this years ago.

It is so satisfying for you to see your progress in spite of overcoming your winter weather. Also, I am glad to see the horse's shoes 'getting a shine'. Love seeing your "littles" playing outside a bit. How are the house pets doing? Sometimes, older pets get wracked up by cold weather and it can be painful and hard on them. Hope you are all well and cheerful.

Great video and job on the ceiling. Had me smiling throughout your video at your antics. No moisture barrier in my ceiling with blown in insulation and it has worked fine. Just remember that blown in insulation settles over time and it will need to be topped off after about 15 years to maintain the R value so leave adquate attic access to do that.

Love the chemistry you both have and the way you enjoy the journey together as much as the focus towards the destination. Simply wonderful. And your inspirational voice overs at the end are so beautifully written. Inspiring!

Here's a little something for ya Melissa. For the last two weeks or so I had a song in my head. It was "I will follow him" every morning when I woke there was that darn song. When if started to slow out came a nother..but this one is only 3 or 4 lines.. afew days later a video popped up, there was you n the kids Melissa on the very first day you got your baby sheep... you know the words "song" I miss? " Make the most of everyday, make the most of what GOD gave with good simple living.".......

It’s looking so good. Y’all make it look easy. Grateful for the lift I bet. I helped my husband put sheet rock on a ceiling and we had no lift. Thankfully it was a small room. That was very rough on me holding it while he attached. That was a very long time ago. Glad the snow has let up for ya.

Great job with the ceilings! I know it's not easy to work above your head, but luckily you had power tools to make it easier. As a child I remember not enjoying all our chores, but we made our own fun too. We sang while we washed and dried the dishes, but the most fun thing we did while we did the dishes: I would start all my words with one letter (maybe S) and my sister would start hers with another (maybe R). If you've never tried it: well, sometimes my mother would hear a word that was not necessarily appropriate to say. (but it was FUN) You are amazing! I love watching you!
