Thanks for the review, dont think that i would buy this kit. By the way, I always bought B. Decker drills and they served me well as a full-time carpenter. It's worth remembering that they own dewalt.
I bought this Power8 After using it for a couple weeks as a table saw The battery came loose Now it no longer works Even when it's plugged in you still can't use it as a table saw drill press or jigsaw Call the company and I've got nothing but the run around saying someone's going to contact me this is going on for a month I Facebook the company There is no post from this company for several years If you look at profiles of people who work for power8 It says former employee So basically this companies going out of business And they will not stand behind their products
By God your spending some dough on tools. Weekends the follow up video coming off the table saw and goes the dado for it. The power 8 is shite. Other companies have built similar and they all end up on ebay.
No idea how much you payed for it. I am a hobby woodworker and joiner and I bought it for 250 Swiss Francs in a store, ans I still have the feeling I payed too much. Finally it takes dust in a corner and I bought the tools I needed from Makita and Bosch Professional. The idea of the Power 8 is birilliant but the quality is rubbish.
Thank you for this. I was looking at getting a workshop to start with and knowing what I'm getting into will help. By the way, you look and sound so much like a Lister from red dwarf it's kind of unreal…
I might bite on this if It was supported by a major tool maker like Milwaukee. But I have a feeling this will wind up at a garage sale after I sits in my garage for a couple years. The tool themselves are suspect. The replacement of them and their batteries. What I do like is the Drill press feature. And it is really kinda cool how everything unpacks. But how well does it pack up? The thing about tools is that they are wishing wells. They promise to work like magic but often they are just some cheap junk.
Yes it’s still doing what I need it too. It’s great for a hobbyist and for me it’s just useful to rip the odd board up when out with no power. If I’m honest I didn’t actually think it would be good at all but it’s actually ok.
Hi, can you tell me if is comes standard with an extra battery and AC/DC converter to use pluged it? I just do a few little project at weekends and been following the DOER toolbox. It's nice to see that there is something already in the market.
As you said it's handy in certain situations Lee. I'm a Joiner funny enough so wait to you here this lol. I've owned Bosch, Makita, Hitachi along with other top and lower brands but here's the thing. My over ten years old Black & Decker 18v KC18HF Ni Cad battery drill out performed them all. It's heavy but bullet proof, built to last with tons of power. The battery eventually needed a jump start using a car charger before I could charge it up properly, this was after seven years but still usable ( lithium would struggle with this ), I also use lithium stuff and it has pro's and con's too. I love this drill so much that six months ago I purchased an original new Ni Cad battery for it, it's a mean machine again lol. I've never purchased a battery for any other drill before because the drills simply weren't worth it. I have a B&D electric planer, another powerful monster, still going strong after 30 years. A Bosh jigsaw over 30 years old ( electrical ) Great jigsaw that was purchased the same time as the planer. DeWalt I've never owned but don't care much about, not that it's bad but Practical boat owner put a lot of cordless drills through their paces years ago running boat bilge pumps, a Power Devil won or at least beat the Dewalt. It actually did under perform most of the tested drills. I used to watch guys in places where I worked over the years with their big name power tools, and me, well, I didn't care what the name was as long as it worked well and lasted without getting ripped off. I witnessed their tools having many different types of problems. Bad gears, chucks, bearings, batteries, motors and bad dust to motor management which burns motors out. I do tend to favour the underdogs and get surprised most of the time Lee. I have a pretty Good instinct when it comes to well built strong tools, some research can help but advertising can get in the way of that. My £50.00 drill falling off a High Place hurts less than my mates £199.00 drill hurts him falling from the same height, this is something worth remembering too. To sum things up, middle of the road priced tools can be a great investment if you know what to look for or get a great deal. Purdie loved that box of tricks you have, I like it myself, very innovative. I'm over meeting up with him in early August, can't wait. I had a great time last year 🙂👍 Sorry for the long post mate 😂 B&D Should have sponsored me lol.
